If you are seriously interested in an animal, we ask that you first fill out an application, tailsofrescue.org  This will be the first step to gaining more information about the animal as well as allow us to know a little bit about you.  Not all dogs come into the store each day so please start with an application.   Meet Gecko  Gecko’s story is one of survival, love, and second chances. This brave mama was live-trapped after she kept sneaking into a chicken coop for fresh dinners — and just a week after arriving at the shelter, she gave birth to nine beautiful puppies in April 2025.    We don’t know much about her past, but we do know this: Gecko is incredibly loyal once she trusts you. She’s slow to warm up at first, but once she’s yours, she’s all in. She enjoys going for walks, rides calmly in the car, and is house trained when she goes out with other dogs.   Gecko weighs about 37 pounds and would do best in a calm, understanding home — one without small children, cats, or livestock. Meet Cricket!     Cricket is one of Gecko’s puppies, born on April 2, 2025, and now about 6 months old. She currently weighs 26 pounds and is growing into a sweet, gentle young lady.   Cricket lives in a foster home in the country with her sister Honey Bear and two other dogs. She’s very submissive by nature, happy to let others take the lead, and loves following their example.   We’re slowly introducing Cricket back into the store a few times a week to help her get used to new sounds, people, and the rhythm of city life. She’s still learning leash manners and confidence in new environments, so her training is a work in progress, but she’s making small steps every day.   Cricket’s ideal home would be one that’s patient, calm, and willing to help her continue to blossom. With gentle guidance and time, this shy sweetheart will reward her family with loyalty, quiet affection, and that soft sparkle of a dog who’s learned to trust.
