Story
JANETThree’s Company called… and apparently Janet got cast as the sweet, soft-hearted roommate with the giant bat ears and emotional support energy. 🖤This little beauty is around 12 weeks old, approximately 7 pounds, and appears to be some kind of Chihuahua mix… although we strongly suspect there’s a little corgi mixed in based on those absolutely ridiculous ears. We’re pretty sure she can hear a treat bag open from three counties away.Janet is currently being fostered with her brother Jack, and while he’s usually the first one ready to explore something new, Janet tends to hang back just a little at first and take everything in. Once she settles in though? She absolutely wants to be close to her people — curled up beside you on the couch, quietly following you around, and emotionally attaching herself to your daily routine immediately. She gets along wonderfully with other dogs, loves everyone she meets, and has such a soft, gentle personality. She’s still learning all the normal puppy things like leash walking, crate life, and potty training, but she’s eager to learn and already proving to be a very easy puppy to love. And honestly? There’s just something special about the quiet girls. 🖤✨ Apply to adopt at:www.biggiepawsrescue.orgYou could keep scrolling… but Janet would take that personally. 🐾▪️ Located in: Kewaunee County▪️ Adoption fee: $500 + $150 refundable spay deposit▪️ Microchipped: Yes▪️ Current on age-appropriate vaccines: YesDATCP # 494550

CHRISSYIf Three’s Company had a tiny fearless roommate who thought she was MUCH bigger than she actually is… it would absolutely be Chrissy. 🖤This teeny little girl is around 12 weeks old, only 4–5 pounds, and appears to be some kind of Chihuahua/Boston Terrier mix. She’s tiny. Like… “could probably fit in your hoodie pocket and still have room for snacks” tiny.Chrissy is currently being fostered with her sister Jasper, and despite being the smaller one, she is determined to keep up with everything Jasper does. Running through the backyard? Chrissy’s coming. Exploring the world? Chrissy’s involved. Playing tug-of-war with toys twice her size? Obviously. She’s sweet, social, ridiculously friendly, and always excited to see her people. Chrissy loves being held and cuddled, but she also has that fun little adventurous streak that makes puppies so entertaining. Basically she wants affection AND the opportunity to investigate literally everything. And honestly… between the giant ears, tiny body, and spotted tongue, Chrissy looks like someone accidentally combined a fruit bat, a puppy, and pure joy into one tiny creature. She’s still learning all the normal puppy basics like potty training and leash walking, but she’s doing great and already settling beautifully into foster life.Like so many black puppies in rescue, Chrissy and her siblings waited longer than they should have in an overcrowded rural shelter before finally getting their chance to leave. And honestly? We’d really love to prove that stereotype wrong for this tiny girl. 🖤✨ Apply to adopt at:www.biggiepawsrescue.orgTiny dog. Giant ears. Main character energy. 🐾▪️ Located in: Antioch, IL▪️ Adoption fee: $500 + $150 refundable spay deposit▪️ Microchipped: Yes▪️ Current on age-appropriate vaccines: YesDATCP # 494550

Story
JACKIf Three’s Company had a tiny chaotic heartthrob roommate with oversized bat ears and absolutely zero personal boundaries… it would be Jack. 🖤This little guy is around 12 weeks old, approximately 7 pounds, and appears to be some kind of Chihuahua mix — although with those short little legs and satellite dish ears, we’re convinced there’s some corgi nonsense happening too.Jack is currently being fostered with his sister Janet, and while she’s politely observing life from the couch, Jack is usually already halfway into the next adventure. Not wild. Not naughty. Just a happy little puppy who approaches life like everything might be fun and everyone might become his new best friend. He’s affectionate, playful, spunky in the best way, and absolutely loves being close to his people. If you sit down, there’s a very good chance Jack will appear beside you immediately like a tiny emotional support gremlin.Like his siblings, Jack was pulled from an overcrowded rural shelter and is now learning what safety, toys, couches, and love are supposed to feel like. And honestly? He seems pretty thrilled about the whole situation. He’s still learning all the normal puppy basics — leash walking, crate training, potty training — but he’s eager to learn and already proving to be a smart, loving little guy.And honestly…black puppies statistically wait longer in rescue, and we’d really love to prove that wrong for Jack. 🖤✨ Apply to adopt at:www.biggiepawsrescue.orgHe already has the ears. Now he just needs the family. 🐾▪️ Located in: Kewaunee County▪️ Adoption fee: $500 + $150 refundable neuter deposit▪️ Microchipped: Yes▪️ Current on age-appropriate vaccines: YesDATCP # 494550

Story
Meet Moo — your very own “pet raccoon” lookalike with a heart full of love. Moo is a sweet 7-year-old girl from Tennessee weighing around 30 pounds. While her paperwork lists her as a Yorkie/Terrier mix, her foster family suspects there may be a little Corgi mixed in too. With her adorable fluffy tail and unique markings, she truly resembles a tiny raccoon in the cutest possible way. Moo came to Safe Haven after her mom in Tennessee, a dedicated shelter volunteer, became ill and could no longer care for her own dogs. Safe Haven is incredibly grateful to have been chosen to help find loving forever families for these deserving pups. Inside the home, Moo is an absolute dream companion. She is potty trained, crate trained, and very well-mannered. She’s perfectly content lounging in a cozy dog bed nearby, but she also enjoys coming over for pets, scratches, and quiet affection from her people. She walks nicely on a leash, though loud noises and unfamiliar people can still make her a little nervous. With patience and consistency, her confidence continues to grow every day. Moo does well with other dogs but appreciates having her own personal space. She may give a gentle warning growl if another dog gets too close while she’s eating or relaxing. She’s looking for a family that will respect her boundaries and continue helping her feel safe and secure. This adorable girl is also on a little wellness journey and could benefit from losing a few pounds. She does not require a fenced yard, but she should remain leashed outdoors since sudden sounds can still startle her. Every day, Moo opens up a little more, showing just how loving and loyal she can be. She’s ready to find a forever family where she can finally relax, feel secure, and enjoy the happy life she deserves. Our standard adoption fee is $465. We offer a $15 discount for adopters who pay by cash or check, making the adoption fee $450. The adoption fee includes spay/neuter when age appropriate at one of our participating veterinarians, age-appropriate core vaccinations, fecal test, deworming, current on flea and tick preventative, and microchip. To ensure the best match for both our dogs and adopters, we require a fully completed adoption application, a phone interview, and a meet-and-greet with the entire household. Applications will not be reviewed unless fully completed. Submitting an application does not guarantee adoption and does not obligate you to adopt; it simply allows us to begin the review process. To request an application or for additional details, please email adopt@safehavendogsIL.org Please note that the breeds and sizes posted in this biography are educated best guesses and are not guaranteed. Safe Haven Dog Rescue reserves the right to approve or decline any adoption application based on the best interest of the dog.
