Hello! I’m a traveling medical student and it’s been hard on Chancho. I love him dearly, but it’s not going well having him in a crate while I’m clinicals. If there’s somebody who’s willing to give him the attention he deserves, he’s an awesome dog.

Story
Meet Squirrel!! He is believed to be 3.5 years of age Corgi JRT mix. Who has overcome so much already including parvo and distemper. Oh boy has he been a very slow progress project dog.He came to us spring of 2016 after his receiving rescue who pulled him from TEXAS refuse to take owner ship of the 5 dogs due to fearful behaviors presented upon intake. Since, his whole family of 5 dogs all adopted except him. He is still making steady continue process. Squirrel is extremely sweet but lacks confidence and social skills, when it come to moving forward with change. He can easily become unsure and any confidence plummets when his fear is trigger causing anxiety and unwillingness to try. He freezes in fear but that has becoming a thing from the past. We keep pushing him until he realizes there is no need to fear anything, anyone, or place. Squirrel is amazing with dogs and fact is they are crucial for his continued progress. Squirrel thrives in a pack. He continues to learn from them. Squirrel is cat friendly too and would do just fine with older mature kids who will nurture him and push him a bit more out of his comfort zone. A fenced in yard is a must, experience with dogs like him preferred, a balance pack needed. Squirrel is very food, praise, affection motivated and requires persistence paired with nurturing without pity. He needs a calm, assertive, compassionate, nurturer leader. Squirrel is house and crate trained, up to date on all appropriate core vaccines including lepto, rabies, de-wormed, fecal tested negative, micro-chipped, neutered, and on monthly heart-worm flea/tick prevention. Updated: 2/1/2023 www.animalhousesanctuary.org We believe training is an ongoing process that needs to be worked on daily. New issues that arise, need to be addressed and/or rewarded. Understanding that continued training is a lifetime commitment, is very important. Out-of-state adopters are welcome at the adopter's expense. Meet & Greets are a required before proceeding with an adoption. We DO NOT ship any of our pets.

Story
Meet Wabbit! He is believed to be a 4 year old Corgi Jack Russell mutt mix. He is just under 25 pounds. Wabbit is a special needs dog, he is epileptic and requires medication 3x a day. His seizures are controlled very well with his medication. Without his medication his seizures become continuous clusters. You see Wabbit was a distemper survivor pup, which caused the damage to his central nervous system causing him to become epileptic. Wabbit is a sweet boy who thrives to be independent. He never barks, ever. He loves to walk but if we prefer to hold him he won’t complain unless he wants to walk. He snuggles and cuddles and thrives in nurturing hands while still maintaining his independence. Wabbit is very low key, very simple, calm, lazy, independent dog. He can be a lap dog, when he wants to. As long as he is cared for, given his med's on time, and has other dogs he is happy and healthy, Wabbits epilepsy is finally under control and any potential adopters must discuss this with their vet in depth, we prefer an experienced adopter. Wabbit is on: 250mg 3x a day Phenobarbital 97.2 m 3x a day Potassium bromide 500mg daily split tab 2x a day And other supplements. Truly as long as his seizures remain in control he is a very easy dog and takes his meds like a champ. Wabbit does require specific food with rosemary extract free. Wabbit is house and crate trained, up to date on all appropriate core vaccines including lepto, rabies, dewormed, fecal tested negative, microchipped, neutered, and on monthly heartworm flea/tick prevention. Story
Laszlo & Cassidy are a bonded pair and are volunteer favorites! Laszlo is a 5-year-old Corgi mix who weighs about 20 lbs. Cassidy is a 3-year-old terrier mix who weighs about 40 lbs. This duo will have your ribs hurting as you laugh at the fun when they are wrestling, playing chase and doing zoomies around the yard. Cassidy is a social butterfly and is always the first one to greet people at Waldo's Dog Dorm. She just thrives on attention and wants tons of loving. She's a very active girl who needs plenty of room to run. Cassidy loves toys and is fabulous with all other dogs and people. She was dumped at a kill shelter which is where we saved her. We have found that she becomes very anxious and fearful around children younger than 10 years of age; this has led us to believe that in her original home there were young children who didn't respect her space and pulled her fur/tail and traumatized her which is likely the reason for her being left at the shelter. Laszlo was a stray who survived at the Morgan County Fairgrounds from the time he was 6 months old until he was finally trapped at 18 months. He was totally feral when we got him and avoided people at all costs. However, this wonderful boy has learned that chest rubs and ear scratches are heavenly; Laszlo won't take treats until he is massaged and scratched; touch is his "love language" ... he craves it more than treats. Laszlo does still need continued rehabilitation after the trauma he experienced during his first year and a half of life. A quiet, loving, patient home with few visitors will be necessary for him. Because of his experience of having long choke tethers on the end of metal poles on him by animal control officers, he is still very fearful of leashes/harnesses. We will provide training techniques to whoever adopts him to help with this, but it's doubtful that her will ever be comfortable taking walks on a leash due to this past trauma. Both of these dogs have so much love to give. What you invest in them in time and love will be returned in spades! Their playfulness along with their love of being massaged & rubbed make them such wonderful family members who will bring smiles and joy to whoever adopts them. Their perfect home will have a VERY SECURE fenced-in yard, no children under 16; as well as a calm, peaceful environment with experienced dog owners who provide positive reinforcement and lots of praise. Whoever adopts Laszlo and Cassidy will be very lucky indeed! The adoption fee for the pair is $325; both are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped and kept on year-round heartworm/flea preventative.

Story
Meet Frankiealso known as Detective Franklin Beans (chief investigator of every sniff), Grumbles (professional little mutterer when things dont go his way), Passenger Prince (the undisputed king of road trips), and Lightning Buggy Boy (the handsome little night-walking superstar who lights up the neighborhood in his bright green glow collar!).No matter what you call him, one thing is for sureFrankie is full of personality, charm, and enough quirky nicknames to keep you smiling every single day. Frankie isnt looking for just any homehes looking for his home. A home filled with patience, kindness, understanding, and unconditional love. This sweet boy is searching for a very special forever familyone that understands that love isnt rushed. Frankie is a nervous and sensitive pup who has likely been through more than well ever know. New people and unfamiliar situations can feel overwhelming for him, and he is especially fearful around men. Frankie needs a PATIENT, CARING, and LOVING family who will allow him to move at his own pace. He doesnt need someone to fix himhe needs someone who will respect his autonomy, honor his boundaries, celebrate every small victory, and give him the time and space he needs to build trust on his own terms. For Frankie, trust is something that grows slowlybut once you become part of his circle, youll discover what a truly special companion he is. The bond you build with him wont happen overnight, but it will be incredibly meaningful and worth every moment. Once Frankie feels comfortable, his sweet and adventurous personality shines through. He absolutely LOVES long walks and happily trots along, taking in all the sights and smells of the world around him. Hes also the perfect adventure buddy and the ultimate Passenger Princea calm, wonderful car companion who enjoys relaxing in the passenger seat on his soft, furry mat. Whether youre heading across town or setting out on a scenic drive, Frankie is happiest riding along beside you. And Frankie isnt just a fan of car rideshes also a music lover! Nothing makes a drive better than a good playlist, especially Noah Kahan or some Yacht Rock classics. Frankie will thrive in a home with: A securely fenced yard where he can safely explore and continue building confidence. Another friendly, confident dog companion to help show him the ropes and provide reassurance. A calm, predictable environment with a family committed to helping him blossom. Frankie is a creature of habit, and a consistent routine helps him feel safe, confident, and ready to succeed. Mealtime is one of his favorite parts of the dayyoull often find him happily parading around the house with the resident dogs while everyone eagerly waits for their meals. Frankie enjoys eating his meals in the comfort of his crate, though he prefers not to spend too much extra time there afterward. When the sun goes down, Frankie transforms into his adorable alter ego: Lightning Buggy Boy. Sporting his bright green light-up collar with pride, he heads out for his evening walkies, carefully checking all the neighborhood pee-mail along the way. These nighttime adventures are one of his favorite daily traditions! One important thing his future family should know is that Frankie does best with regular potty breaks. He can comfortably hold it for about 45 hours, and having someone accompany him outside with gentle encouragement helps him feel secure and successful. Frankie may not be the dog who runs into your arms on day one or greets every stranger with a wagging tailbut he is the kind of dog whose love is earned through patience, consistency, compassion, and trust. Watching Frankie slowly discover what it means to feel safe, gain confidence, and choose to trust you is one of the most rewarding experiences you can have. If you believe that love is patient, that the best things in life are worth waiting for, and that every dog deserves the chance to bloom, Frankie is waiting for you. Could you be the family who gives this deserving boy the forever home hes been dreaming of?
