Hi! My name is Bridgette and I am looking for a forever home. I was picked up as a stray and taken to a really scary place called a shelter where, after my hold time was up, I was placed on something bad called "the list". Fortunatey for me, a BCAA volunteer saw my picture and started the process on getting me out of there. I was very happy to be out of there but was still pretty scared when I first came into foster, but everyone has been so nice to me that I have started coming out of my shell and discovering I love attention from anyone willing to give it to me (belly rubs are really good, too). I appear to be maybe a mix of a basset (my legs are only a couple inches) and maybe corgi. Whatever I am, my foster mom says I am super cute with a personality to match. The vet put me a little over a year old and I weigh around 24lbs. It also looks like I have had puppies recently and was probably abandoned right after they were weaned. While I'm not aggressive towards other dogs, I prefer calmer ones that do not get in my face; so far I haven't bothered those things called cats. I have done really well in my crate which I will go in readily as I feels it's my safe space unless, of course, I'm allowed to be out with you. I am good on leash with just a little bit of encouragement. This adorable boy happens to be deaf, but don’t tell Kevin that he’s any different, he approaches life with enthusiasm, curiosity, and plenty of puppy charm. Kevin is settling nicely into foster care and enjoys spending time outdoors playing ball. Whether he’s racing after a toy or deciding that bringing it back is optional, he keeps everyone entertained with his goofy antics. Deaf dogs learn through visual cues, hand signals, consistency, and positive reinforcement. They require secure fencing or leash walks since they cannot hear approaching dangers or recall commands from a distance. In return, deaf dogs often form incredibly strong bonds with their people and are just as capable of learning and thriving as any hearing dog. Kevin is a sweet, playful young boy who is looking for a patient family willing to continue his training and help him grow into the amazing dog he’s destined to be.
