Story
Hi!  My name is Bridgette and I am looking for a forever home.  I was picked up as a stray and taken to a really scary place called a shelter where, after my hold time was up, I was placed on something bad called "the list".  Fortunatey for me, a BCAA volunteer saw my picture and started the process on getting me out of there.  I was very happy to be out of there but was still pretty scared when I first came into foster, but everyone has been so nice to me that I have started coming out of my shell and discovering I love attention from anyone willing to give it to me (belly rubs are really good, too).  I appear to be maybe a mix of a basset (my legs are only a couple inches) with possiby a boxer?  Whatever I am, my foster mom says I am super cute with a personality to match.  The vet put me a little over a year old and I weigh around 24lbs.  It also looks like I have had puppies recently and was probably abandoned right after they were weaned.  While I'm not aggressive towards other dogs, I prefer calmer ones that do not get in my face; so far I haven't bothered those things called cats.  I have done really well in my crate which I will go in readily as I feels it's my safe space unless, of course, I'm allowed to be out with you.  I am good on leash with just a little bit of encouragement.  If you would like to meet me, please fill out an application which can be found at www.bcaaofnj.org.Interested in adopting this pet?Click here for BCAA's on-line Application! PLEASE NOTE: Our adoption fee helps to cover our expenses and includes all shots, *age appropriate*, distemper and rabies, fecal check, spay/neuter, heartworm test, grooming, and in many cases dental and also the fee we pay when we rescue from a shelter. Story
Hi!  My name is Millie and I am looking for a forever home.  I was surrendered by my previous mom to a small rescue 'cause she said she just didn't have the time to take care of a puppy.  A volunteer with that rescue contacted BCAA to see if they could help me and they said yes!  I appear to be a corgi mix, maybe with a touch of chihuhaua, but whatever I am my foster mom says I'm adorable with a super sweet personality to match. I am about 4-5mos old and am around 8-10lbs right now so should stay on the smaller side once I'm full grown.  It takes me a couple of minutes to learn that I can trust you but after that, I'm all about the loving and playing  I have gotten along with all of the other small dogs I have met but haven't really encountered those things called cats yet.  I am a typical puppy in that I will need continued training and socialization to become the great adult dog my foster mom says I'm on my way to becoming.  If you would like to meet me, please fill out an application which can be found at www.bcaaofnj.org. Interested in adopting this pet?Click here for BCAA's on-line Application! Story
Sadie was surrendered at the shelter through no fault of her own. As we’ve gotten to know Sadie better, we’ve learned she’s not your typical laid-back, cuddly corgi. Sadie is a very driven, active girl who thrives with structure, routine, and having something to keep her busy. She is incredibly smart, confident, vocal, and full of classic corgi personality. If you’ve ever met a corgi and thought “this dog definitely has opinions,” Sadie would agree 😅 Sadie is looking for: • A confident owner who can continue her training and provide clear boundaries • A fenced yard • A job, activity, or consistent mental stimulation • A single family home with no shared walls because this girl loves to chat 😅 • An only-pet home with no other dogs and no cats • An adult-only home with no kids The good news? Sadie is crate trained and doing well working on her leash skills. She’s incredibly smart and enjoys learning, she just needs the right person to help her continue building confidence and skills. Sadie is not for a first-time dog owner or someone looking for an easygoing couch potato. She will do best with someone who appreciates a dog with big energy in a short-legged package. For the right person, Sadie is going to be a fun, loyal, entertaining companion with lots of personality.

Story
Meet Applebee’s Bacon Bourbon Sliders aka Baconator aka Kevin Bacon, or sometimes just Kevin. Kevin Bacon is a handsome 1 year old Corgi with a big personality and an even bigger heart. This adorable boy happens to be deaf, but don’t tell Kevin that he’s any different, he approaches life with enthusiasm, curiosity, and plenty of puppy charm. Kevin is settling nicely into foster care and enjoys spending time outdoors playing ball. Whether he’s racing after a toy or deciding that bringing it back is optional, he keeps everyone entertained with his goofy antics. He also loves a good case of the zoomies, happily running laps around the yard before returning for some well earned attention and affection. Like many young dogs, Kevin is still learning the ropes. He’s making progress with potty training and is working on building confidence when his people move out of sight. Sometimes Kevin expresses his opinions with a few enthusiastic bark complaints when he knows his humans are nearby but can’t see them. His foster family is helping him learn that being alone for short periods is okay by rewarding calm behavior and giving him time to adjust. Each day, he settles a little more quickly and continues to gain confidence. Because Kevin is deaf, his future family will need to understand the unique needs of a deaf dog. Deaf dogs learn through visual cues, hand signals, consistency, and positive reinforcement. They require secure fencing or leash walks since they cannot hear approaching dangers or recall commands from a distance. In return, deaf dogs often form incredibly strong bonds with their people and are just as capable of learning and thriving as any hearing dog. Kevin is a sweet, playful young boy who is looking for a patient family willing to continue his training and help him grow into the amazing dog he’s destined to be. If you’re ready for a loyal companion who will keep you smiling with his puppy antics and loving nature, Kevin Bacon may be the perfect addition to your family. Kevin may not hear your voice, but he’s ready to listen with his heart. ❤️ Kevin is being fostered in Queensbury, NY Please fill out an application on our website: www.sjcorgirescue.org/adopt

Story
🌶️ Meet Chili’s Baby Back Ribs 🌶️ Chili is a handsome 1 year old deaf Corgi who proves every day that being deaf doesn’t slow him down one bit! This happy go lucky boy embraces life with enthusiasm and curiosity, always ready to explore the world around him. Chili is a friendly, affectionate pup who loves attention and happily soaks up all the pets and cuddles you have to offer. One of his favorite activities is exploring the backyard, where he can investigate new sights, smells, and adventures at his own pace. He enjoys the company of other dogs and would do well with canine friends who are welcoming and playful. Chili also doesn’t mind respectful children who understand how to interact gently with dogs. One thing that makes Chili unique is how little bothers him. Since he can’t hear them, thunderstorms and fireworks don’t cause him any stress, allowing him to remain calm and relaxed while other dogs may be looking for a place to hide. Chili is looking for a family that will appreciate his sweet personality and understand that deaf dogs are just as capable, loving, and trainable as any other dog. With a little patience, consistency, and communication through visual cues, Chili will make an incredible companion. If you’re looking for a loyal, loving, and resilient best friend, Chili may be the perfect addition to your family! ❤️🐾🌶️ Please fill out an application on our website to be considered. www.sjcorgirescue.org/adopt
