Story
Meet Toby A Gentle Soul Looking for a Patient Forever Home Toby is a 6-month-old, 26-pound Corgi/Dachshund mix with a heart as big as his adorable ears. His story began with heartbreak. At just 4 months old, Toby was abandoned at a high-kill shelter alongside his mom. While his mom was quickly adopted, Toby was left behind, scared and alone in a noisy shelter environment. Thankfully, a loving foster stepped in and gave him the chance he deserved. When Toby first arrived in foster care, he was terrified of the outside world. Everyday sounds and unfamiliar surroundings overwhelmed him, and even going outdoors was frightening. But Toby found comfort in his foster sisters. By watching them confidently explore, play, and enjoy life, he slowly began to follow their lead. Today, Toby happily goes outside on leash, loves playing with his foster sisters, and enjoys stretching out in the sunshine for a relaxing afternoon sunbath. Toby is shy when meeting new people and needs time to decompress in new environments. Once he feels safe, however, he blossoms into a loyal little companion who will quietly follow you everywhere. He is calm, gentle, incredibly sweet, and completely non-confrontational. He does not resource guard and has wonderful manners around other animals. Toby loves to hang out and lay either on bookshelves or under desks, or right by his foster sister. Toby currently lives with six dogs and one cat and gets along beautifully with all of them. He absolutely thrives in the company of other pets and looks to them for reassurance and confidence. Because of this, a happy, confident, playful dog in the home is required. Toby trusts dogs more than humans, and having a canine role model helps him continue building confidence and learning that the world is a safe place. He is also a very smart puppy and a quick learner who continues to make progress every day. While he is fine around children, we feel Toby would do best in a quieter home without young kids. He spends a lot of energy observing his surroundings and making sure everything is okay, so a calm environment will help him relax and continue gaining confidence. After everything he has been through, it's understandable that Toby is cautious. But for the family willing to give him patience, kindness, and time, Toby will reward you with unwavering loyalty and a bond that is truly special. Toby is currently puppy pad trained and has done an excellent job learning where to potty indoors. Because he is still working through his fear of loud noises and the outside world, we are not yet asking him to go outside regularly for potty breaks. Instead, we are focusing on helping him build confidence at his own pace. The good news is that Toby is a very smart little guy and learns quickly. He picked up puppy pad training in no time and closely watches the other dogs in his foster home. When his canine friends head outside to do their business, Toby is eager to follow their lead. We believe that once he becomes more comfortable with outdoor noises and new environments, transitioning to outdoor potty training will be easy for him. With a patient family and a confident dog companion to show him the ropes, Toby is expected to housebreak very quickly. If you have a friendly dog looking for a best friend, and a quiet home where Toby can continue to flourish, this sweet little survivor may be the perfect addition to your family. Toby has already come so far. Now he just needs a forever family to help him write the next chapter of his story. Toby is fully vaccinated with 3 rounds of shots, neutered and heartworm negative. He is kept on heartworm and flea preventatives. To meet this amazing pup via facetime or whatsapp or other video chat apps, please send a completed application via www.savesomesouls.com Yards MUST BE adequately and fully fenced to adopt our pups. We do not accept electric or underground fences. Toby's adoption fee includes all vetting (DAPP with booster, Bordetella, Rabies vaccine, multiple broad spectrum deworming treatments, spay/neuter surgery and recovery, heartworm and flea prevention), a microchip with free lifetime registration, a high quality nylon Martingale collar, and harness. Our dogs are fully assessed by foster parents, vets and behaviorists, as well as videos and video chats are available to observe their manners in public. We are extremely transparent and like to share everything negative and positive with the adopters, to ensure it's a good fit and they are not returned to us, as the trips are very stressful on them. Houston is home to million strays, many who are abandoned, many born on the streets, many who escaped while living in the yard, which is common in Texas. Since our rescue does not get grants that shelters get, we use adoption fee to help the pups and kitties in our care. Your adoption fee goes towards vetting and feeding our long term and permanent fosters, and unadoptable pups, as well as towards the monthly care and preventatives etc of our pets. By adopting one pup from our rescue, you make room for another dog to be rescued our high kill shelter, thus becoming an integral part of our mission to save as many unfortunate dogs off the streets and shelters as possible. So Thank you for choosing to rescue, and not go to a breeder.

Story
Meet Mac – A Mighty Little Pup We’d like to share the story of a very special pup named Mac (short for Makenzie). Born the runt of her litter with severe limb deformities, Mac was unable to walk and initially given a poor prognosis. But Mac’s story didn’t end there. Thanks to Scout’s Honor Rescue, she was evaluated by the team at Houston Veterinary Specialists, who believed that with corrective surgery on her back legs, she could have a real chance at a happy, active life. Mac proved them right. With her trademark spunk and resilience, she recovered beautifully from major orthopedic surgery. Today, she spends her days chasing lizards in her foster’s backyard and soaking up naps in warm sunbeams. While Mac’s surgery was a great success, her early deformities mean she is more susceptible to injury and already has some arthritis. She will require a bit more advanced veterinary care as she ages. She also may eventually need corrective surgery on her front left leg. That means she really needs an amazing pet parent, someone who will give her the love, care, and medical support she deserves (and fortunately for us, we know quite a few amazing pet parents)! Mac gets along wonderfully with cats, dogs, and children, she truly loves everyone she meets. If you think you might be the perfect match for Mac, please click the link below to fill out an adoption application. https://scoutshonor.org/dogs/little-mac-pup  July 3, 2026, 10:57 pm

Story
If happiness had four legs and bright blue eyes, it might look a lot like Rusty. This young Corgi mix has a knack for finding joy in the little things—a squeaky toy that needs rescuing, a tennis ball worth chasing, or a new trail waiting to be explored. Rusty is a loyal sidekick, the kind of friend who’s always nearby, ready for the next adventure or a well-earned scratch behind the ears. Add in his love of belly rubs and back scratches, and you’ve got a dog who turns ordinary days into something a little more fun. ##2762707##

Story
Meet Monroe, an 18 lb, 6 year old chihuahua–corgi mix with a heart as big as his ears. Monroe was adopted from a shelter years ago and knew nothing but love. He had a happy home, a devoted mom, and a fur sister by his side. Then, last August, his world changed when his mom passed away from cancer. After the family home was sold, his routine disappeared, and eventually his dad could no longer care for him either. His sister found a new home. Monroe was just days away from being taken back to the shelter when his foster mom stepped in to save him, but he still needs a permanent home where he can feel safe and loved. Despite everything, Monroe’s spirit is gentle, loyal, and full of love. He is housebroken, potty trained, great with other dogs, and wonderful with kids. He’s a classic Velcro dog — happiest when he’s curled up next to his person, soaking in affection and offering quiet companionship. He deserves a forever family who will cherish him for the rest of his life. If you’re looking for a devoted little shadow who will adore you endlessly, Monroe is ready to give his whole heart. Please apply to adopt Monroe at HTXdogrescue.org

Story
Meet Sienna, a young, playful, and cuddly dog full of energy and love. While she can be very shy and jumpy, her excitement shines through once she warms up. It might take a little bit of time though. Sienna is quite protective, making her a loyal companion once she trusts you. She`s still learning the ropes, so some training will help her become the best version of herself. She`ll need help with leash walking and house training and her tendency to chew. She weighs 32 pounds and enjoys running and chase. Sienna thrives on companionship and is eager to be part of a loving home and never wants to be alone. While she can be a bit rough with other dogs, she`s incredibly gentle and joyful around children, making her a delightful family companion. However, because of her timidity and fears, she`ll need to live with kids at least nine years old. She was given up because there were too many animals in the home. Adopt Sienna and discover the joy of growing together with a devoted friend. (tw 7/4/2026)
