Story
Meet Auggie – The Sweetest Shih Tzu with a Freckled Nose! Oh my gosh…is Auggie not the cutest dog ever? This 2-year-old, 17-pound Shih Tzu has the sweetest freckled nose and a personality to match! Auggie’s journey to us wasn’t easy — he was surrendered by owners who kept him outside most of the time, where he would often escape the yard. Thanks to a kind neighbor, Auggie was rescued, groomed (he was very matted!), checked by the vet, and placed into a loving foster home where he’s thriving. Auggie is a perfect mix of fun and calm. He adores everyone he meets, loves spending time outside, and would thrive in a home with a safe yard where he can hang out with you while you garden or relax on the patio. He also gets along wonderfully with playful dogs, so a furry companion would be ideal for him. Auggie is happiest when he has company and isn’t left alone for long stretches — he’s a true social sweetheart who loves being part of the action. This adorable boy is neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped — and he’s ready to find his forever family where he can be spoiled with love and attention. Trust us, once you meet Auggie, you’ll fall in love instantly! 📧 Contact: gina@theforgottendog.org 📞 Phone: 310‑990‑2020 Note: We only adopt in Southern California as we require an in-person meet & greet, home check, and trial period.

Story
PLEASE READ THIS PROFILE AND THE REQUESTED CRITERIA BEFORE CALLING OR SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION. THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION AND CONSIDERATION INTRODUCING DOLBY….and another tragic story to report 🙁 At 12 lbs, 4 yrs old and tri colored, this very special Shih Tzu boy was given to a good Samaritan who took him because she wanted to keep him out of the shelter when his humans were moving. She was told he had a hernia…but in fact it was a testicular tumor. He had never been neutered and the tumor grew to be the size of a baseball before she handed him over to us — never disclosing this information. We got him to our vet and were very worried initially — how such a sweet, easygoing, loving dog could end up this way. GOOD NEWS while the tumor was malignant, it was the type that the oncologist says doesn’t metastasize, so the cancer was gone! We have done a needle biopsy to clear the lymph nodes and everything was negative — which for us was very positive! Dolby’s foster reports that he is one of the easiest going pups he has ever experienced and is a joy to be around. He was playing voraciously with his foster buddy despite the fact that he had an abdomen full of stitches from his surgery! They are still working on his potty training but report he is getting it! He is not hyper but loves to play…not super interested in toys at this point. Loves belly rubs as all dogs do…and is a super kissy lover! He is not yappy or barky but will say hello to the other dogs walking on the street! Not an aggressive bone in his body. Because of his fantastic nature, he could probably go into almost any home – but preferably one with another dog and a family who will cherish him. He is very people and dog oriented and whomever adopts him will be bringing in a wonderful family member. Does that sound like you? He will not be available until the beginning of November. Our website is updated daily. Please do not apply for this dog unless your home fits the specified criteria. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, groomed, vet checked, dewormed, deflea'd and come with a leash, collar and ID If you are interested in adopting a pup from Lhasa Happy Homes, please complete the Adoption Application before calling. PLEASE READ THIS PROFILE AND THE REQUESTED CRITERIA BEFORE CALLING OR SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION. THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION AND CONSIDERATION MEET PRESLEY….a great looking, longer legged, gray/white, 3-4 yr old, 16 lb, Lhasa/ShihTzu who hails from the streets of Compton. A good Samaritan scooped him off the road before he could be hit by a car and searched for his people Unsuccessful in finding them, after several weeks she decided to turn him over to rescue for rehoming. He is now with us 🙂 Presley is a sweet dog who walks well on a leash, is great with other dogs and love to play! He came to us intact, no vaccinations, no microchip and needed the “works.” The vet will neuter him next Thursday and he will be available for adoption July 27. We are getting to know him and he warms up a little bit more each day. One thing we know is he would rather be with his humans and canines than to be alone! A sweetheart, he would be good with kids over 8 yrs old and he is an active boy, so he would love a yard and a playmate…either another dog or children to play with. Since he’s only been here a short time, we will update this profile as we learn more about him. Whatever home he goes to will be a lucky one indeed! Our website is updated daily. Story
PLEASE READ THIS PROFILE AND THE REQUESTED CRITERIA BEFORE CALLING OR SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION. THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION AND CONSIDERATION MEET PANDA…a precious 11 lb., black/white, 6-7 yr old Shih Tzu X — maybe with Maltese — who hails from Mexico! This little one-eyed wonder was rescued off the streets of Tijuana with a torn ACL and not the best hips (no surgery needed at this time)…but lucky for him rescuers who specialize in saving these babies from there came to his rescue! They contacted us and we were happy to take him. He looks so much like a Panda…that had to be his name! Panda is a sweetheart, but as you can imagine, after coming off the streets of a foreign country and then traveling to San Diego and then Los Angeles to us, he is still a bit shut down and confused. He is quiet as a mouse, eats like he loves his new food and is very low key. Panda relished in having a warm bed, good food, a roof over his head and lots of cuddling and loving. He has been neutered, got a dental and is now having orthopedic surgery to help him to get healthy and some normalcy in his life. We are not sure how he tore his ACL, and he has learned to cope with it — but he will be happier when it’s healed. He hasn’t been able to enjoy playing or running around, but now will will be able to do everything! Panda won’t be available to adopt until after the New Year (4-6 weeks recovery), but we will make appointments to see and pre-adopt him if the right home presents itself. What we know about him is he is a happy boy, likes to go on walks now that he knows how to walk on a leash (and will love his walks once he no longer limps 🙁) and is a really sweet, wonderful boy. We will be able to report more once he is on the mend. Our website is updated daily. Please do not apply for this dog unless your home fits the specified criteria. THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION AND CONSIDERATION MEET LILLI….”Lilli pad” to her close friends and relatives! This little 11 lb, 5-6 yr old, gray/white spitfire has had an awful life :(. How or why she originally landed in the shelter we do not know, but she was matted to the bone a year+, adopted by a 92 yr old woman who neglected her for a year and then given to another senior to care for her who couldn’t have two dogs in her living environment 🙁 Once we got her to the groomer and had all the knots and matts and who knows what else the groomer found, he said “if I could, I would take her home with me — she’s so cute!” He never says that about anyone! She was trained to go on a pp pad, but we have worked with her and she goes outside — a couple of accidents here and there on the pp pad! She doesn’t really play with toys — she will chase after them but leave them wherever they land. Lilli would love to have a companion pup to play with as she is trying to play with our other foster dog and he’s not having it! A family with older kids would even be a possibility!! Story
PLEASE READ THIS PROFILE AND THE REQUESTED CRITERIA BEFORE CALLING OR SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION. THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION AND CONSIDERATION MEET STEFFIE….an adorable, happy, 7 yr old, tan/black, 15 lb, Lhasa Apso mix, who unfortunately found herself homeless when her senior owner could no longer care for her. She was so matted that the groomer needed to shave her 🙁 Owner reported she continuously tried to escape, but she has been very happy here and she stays put. One thing she does like to do is roll the window down while you are driving. She did this in her previous home and ended up jumping out of the car and injuring herself. She is fully recovered — but make sure you have locks on your car windows! Steffie is a character. Her original name was Cheff — but since she doesn’t cook, we changed it! She has a big personality and is extremely playful, loving, kissy and attentive. She loves toys and to fetch (even sometimes brings it back to you) — and kissing is her other favorite pastime! If you don’t want a dog to snuggle up in your bed, Steffie would not be the right girl for you. She likes to be on high places, be the boss of the house and be a happy girl. She will bark if she hears noises (like on the TV) and wants to protect the house! She is OK with other dogs but is possessive of her person, so we believe she would be best as an only dog. On walks (which she LOVES), she can also be protective but when approached slowly, she likes to meet and greet everyone on the street. Her potty training is pretty good — but no guarantees at your house. All in all, Steffie is a girl who would be happy as your one and only — but doesn’t love being left alone. A household where her parents work from home and include her in activities woud be ideal. Older kids (10+) who enjoy a playful dog would be fantastic. This girl just wants to have fun…how about you? Story
PLEASE READ THIS PROFILE AND THE REQUESTED CRITERIA BEFORE CALLING OR SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION. THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION AND CONSIDERATION MEET THIS FABULOUS DUO…..and you will fall in love. (respectively) Caitlyn and Cameron are 18/22 lbs, both 2 yrs old, tan/black Lhasa/Shih Tzu and Lhasa X — likely litter mates. When we get dogs like these two, it reminds me why I fell in love with the breed. Not only are they gorgeous, but they are so smart and have so much personality! We were called and told that a Good Samaritan found them huddled in an alley together and was taking them to the Orange County Shelter to locate their owners. Yes, they were a mess. No they didn’t walk on a leash until they came to us, but they are so loving and happy, we are thrilled that they are here. It was difficult getting individual pictures of them because they are always together, on top of each other and/or playing. They even do their business in unison!! They love to cuddle with each other and you — they give lots of kisses and just reek of puppy love! Initially, they were very fearful and reluctant to meet anyone, but not an ounce of aggression. It takes a minute for them to warm up, but it is so understandable. They have only been here a short time and they are already overwhelming their foster with affection and love. As every day passes, they get more and more rambunctious. Definitely need an active family to love these two to life. The ideal home for Caitlyn and Cameron would be one where there are kids over 8 yrs, a yard and dog parents who are able to spend time and train them. They seem to be potty trained, but no guarantees at your house. They have been extremely quiet, but they just recently arrived. They are learning what toys are…all the writer of their profile can say is they are VERY SPECIAL and will only go home together, so please don’t ask us to split them up. Our website is updated daily. Please do not apply for this dog unless your home fits the specified criteria. Story
PLEASE READ THIS PROFILE AND THE REQUESTED CRITERIA BEFORE CALLING OR SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION. THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION AND CONSIDERATION THIS IS ROCKO…and rock’n’roll Rocky is a superstar!! This gorgeous, 17 lb, 4 yr old, tan/white Lhasa Apso is the real deal! Unfortunately, he hasn’t yet found a family that had the time or appreciation to get this wonderful boy training or give him the attention he needs. He is very loving, kissy, playful and happy under the right circumstances! Rocko requires a little patience, time, and training. When you are walking him, he likes to run circles around you, but we are working on “walk straight” and he responds. He is very smart and wants to please. He wants to explore the world, meet and greet everyone on the street and say hello! Rocko is not aggressive, but he can be snippy with new people if they don’t give him enough time to warm up. He needs pet parents who understand the breed and will work on his human socialization. Once he feels comfortable with you (just give him a few days to settle in and he's there!), he's the most loyal companion you could ask for! The best home for Rocko would be one where there is a yard, so that he can exercise and play with you! Because kids can be frenetic, we think he’d be better off without kids. His vocal manners are pretty good, but he does bark to alert! He’s been doing well with potty training in his foster home, but no guarantees at your house! Does handsome, sweet Rocko sound like a pup you could “rock’n’roll” with? Our website is updated daily. Please do not apply for this dog unless your home fits the specified criteria.
