JENNY--Help needed JENNY is in need of sponsorship in our sponsorship program to pay for the remainder of her extensive veterinary costs. We are raising funds for all of her diagnostic procedures--Xrays, Ultrasounds, CBC, Urinalysis--for her extensive dental work, and extraction and suturing of six very bad removed teeth, and for her bladder stone removal surgery, JENNY is a Maltipoo, a Maltese/Poodle cross. Jenny is 7 years old and weighs about 15 pounds. She is a cream and white color, and she is also hypoallergenic! JENNY is very intelligent and inquisitive. She is housetrained, sweet, gentle, playful, loving, affectionate, a lot of fun to be with, and not destructive. Dogs like JENNY also require regular ongoing grooming maintenance to prevent dangerous matts and tangles in the fur which can cause serious skin damage. Dixon is an adorable Bichon/Poodle mix who's about 3 years old and weighs about 15 pounds. He was a stray that ended up at the Palmdale Shelter. Dixon is a mellow but attentive guy who is affectionate with his trusted humans, preferring to be near them or draped across them on their lap. Dixon has a great mix of affection and independence and has no separation anxiety issues. He loves his walks and does not pull on the leash nor is he reactive when seeing other dogs. He greets people with a bit of caution but quickly becomes at ease with a gentle approach and soft tone. He gets along with other dogs but doesn't engage much with them. Dixon would be best in a home with a confident, experienced dog owner and an adult-only home. He has all shots, is neutered and microchipped. Meet Victoryl! He is the sweetest boyl! He is a 5 year old that was rescued from a breeding farm before heading to a dog meat farm in South Korea. We have partners we work with there that pull these dogs from the worst horrors imaginable. Many of these dogs start off in horiffic puppy mill type facilities on tiny rabbit cage size wire crates in complete filth. If they are not sold at 6 or 8 weeks then they either stay for a couple years to be used to breed more and then are sold off to the meat trade, or they are sold off right away. Jindo's and Tosa's are the most common meat type dogs, and are very commonly bred specifically for their meat and the meat farms also act as breeding farms until they reach a good age and weight. South Korea is one of the only countries that actually farms dogs for their meat. Restaurants will serve a dish called " bosintang ", which stands for "dog meat soup". It's a popular dish in South Korea, and is said to act as an aphrodisiac for men. Little dogs are used for elixirs and potions. The younger generation is mostly against this practice and many choose to not eat them, and we can only hope in time with education and generations of change that an end will come to this horrific trade. Victory and some of his family and friends have been flown here for a chance at a future and a real life. These are miracle dogs that they are alive today. Our adoption fee is $600 which helps offset some of the flight costs. This precious 10.5 lb, 7-8 yr old, tri colored (mostly white), Shih Tzu is the true definition of a lap dog. She can be independent at times (mostly when she is sleeping) but her favorite place is sitting on the couch with you while you watch Netflix! She likes to snuggle with you in bed at night, so if you don’t want this….she’s not for you! We haven’t seen Mimosa actually play with toys, but she does run after them, well maybe trot, but doesn’t do anything with them. Mostly, she likes to be with her human and we don’t think her feet ever touch the ground all too often, as she’s not sure where the bathroom is…she has had a few accidents but mostly she goes outside. Mimosa is a good eater but we don’t think she was pampered in her former home. She came to us with a back full of scabs from biting and chewing at herself. She has been on antibiotics to clear it up, she’s been groomed and she is only eating the best food and treats! More and more of her personality reveals itself the longer we’ve had her but we know she is absolutely precious and even though she might be part diva, she will make someone a very happy parent! THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION AND CONSIDERATION MEET PANDA…a precious 11 lb., black/white, 5-6 yr old Shih Tzu X — maybe with Maltese — who hails from Mexico! This little one-eyed wonder was rescued off the streets of Tijuana with a torn ACL and not the best hips (no surgery needed at this time)…but lucky for him rescuers who specialize in saving these babies from there came to his rescue! They contacted us and we were happy to take him. He looks so much like a Panda…that had to be his name! Panda is a sweetheart, but as you can imagine, after coming off the streets of a foreign country and then traveling to San Diego and then Los Angeles to us, he is still a bit shut down and confused. He is quiet as a mouse, eats like he loves his new food and is very low key. Panda relished in having a warm bed, good food, a roof over his head and lots of cuddling and loving. He has been neutered, got a dental and is now having orthopedic surgery to help him to get healthy and some normalcy in his life. We are not sure how he tore his ACL, and he has learned to cope with it — but he will be happier when it’s healed. He hasn’t been able to enjoy playing or running around, but now will will be able to do everything! Panda won’t be available to adopt until after the New Year (4-6 weeks recovery), but we will make appointments to see and pre-adopt him if the right home presents itself. What we know about him is he is a happy boy, likes to go on walks now that he knows how to walk on a leash (and will love his walks once he no longer limps 🙁) and is a really sweet, wonderful boy.
