Story
I’m Princess, a 12 year old female Shih Tzu. I am very sweet, enjoy playing like a puppy in short bursts with rest time after, groom time with my foster, find stairs a bit of a challenge, love being outside, a lovely houseguest getting on with the resident canines swimmingly, and learning the joy of heating pads. ********PLEASE READ BELOW PRIOR TO EMAILING IN**********If you are interested in adopting this dog or any other from our rescue, please go to https://www.hobocare.org/adopt to review our home requirements and fill out an application. Story
Tess was rescued after a Good Samaritan saved her from the harsh streets of McAllen, Texas in the Rio Grande Valley on the Texas/Mexico border. She was likely dumped, common in the area, as she was found on a back road with no homes for miles. She was super matted and it took three hours to remove the horrible matting, flea bath and removing huge ticks on her poor little body. No more sleeping on the harsh streets for this princess. Despite her ruff life before rescue, Tess is very social. She gets along really well with other dogs and loves to play. She's great with kids. She lets you put bows in her hair. Tess goes on daily walks, is potty & crate trained and is ready to go to her furever home! According to her foster (who obviously adores her): 12/14/2025: "Tess is sweet, loving, loves to cuddle and receive attention. She’s great on her walkies & gets along with dogs her size. She’s still a little skiddish be she’s outgrowing it." 12/11/2025: "Her eyelashes are gorgeous!! This little bundle of fur loves to give kisses, loves to wrestle & zoomies with her foster sister Piper and loves to cuddle! Gets along great with our pack of 4!!!" 12/6/25: "Tess is so pretty and the sweetest most innocent pup I’ve met yet! She loves to cuddle & give kisses. She’ll guard you at your feet thru the night. Cant wait for her transformation This is what fostering does for dogs rescued straight from the streets. She’s learning a humans touch isn’t always hurtful, learning to love and be loved and most of all gain her confidence back from those horrible streets that hurt her so much in McAllen." Tess is currently living in a foster home in San Antonio, Texas, awaiting an adopter or open foster home in Colorado to bring her up and into their home- the next transport arrives January 9th! Red Fern Animal Rescue offers a two week foster to adopt trial in your home before finalizing the adoption to ensure the animal is the right fit for you, everyone in the home, human & animal, and vice versa. Red Fern Animal Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit foster-based animal rescue in Denver that saves animals from abandonment and neglect in South Texas for new lives in Colorado. We primarily rescue dogs off the streets and from kill shelters in San Antonio. ##2615393##
