📌 Important Adoption Information All of our dogs are currently living in private shelters or foster homes in South Korea. Once an adoption is approved, dogs will travel to the United States through legal and approved international transport procedures. Video calls are available prior to adoption, and adopters can communicate with our rescue team in real time through our official organization and app-based messaging channels throughout the process. **Name:** Cotton **Sex:** Male (Neutered) **Age:** Approx. 4 years old **Breed:** Mixed **Weight:** 5.4 kg (approx. 12 lbs) **Vaccinations:** Up to date **Health Status:** Cotton has completed treatment for heartworm and has fully recovered. He previously suffered from severe urinary stones and suspected gallbladder stones, and has since successfully undergone urinary stone treatment and gallbladder removal surgery. He is currently stable and healthy. A possible protein allergy is suspected, so he is maintained on a prescription hypoallergenic diet. **Rescue Story** Cotton was living in a high-kill shelter and was placed on the euthanasia list. At the time, the shelter advertised him as being around 2 years old, so a private rescuer believed he was a young, healthy dog and pulled him from the shelter. However, during a veterinary examination, Cotton was determined to be closer to 4 years old and was diagnosed with severe urinary stones and suspected gallbladder disease, requiring extensive and costly treatment. Facing the overwhelming medical expenses, the rescuer felt unable to continue and considered returning Cotton to the shelter where euthanasia was still imminent. Unable to let him face that fate again, a private sanctuary intervened and took full responsibility for his care. Cotton underwent all necessary treatments, including urinary stone management, gallbladder removal surgery, and heartworm treatment. He has now fully completed his medical care and is ready to start a new chapter in a loving home. **Personality & Behavior** Cotton is a gentle, sensitive boy with a calm and observant nature. He enjoys human companionship and will happily approach adults and children to sniff and greet, but he does not appreciate sudden or startling movements. * **With cats:** He becomes timid and cautious around cats * **With dogs:** He may bark at dogs larger than himself. With smaller dogs, he will briefly sniff and then politely avoid them. A calm single-dog home or a well-managed multi-dog home would be ideal. * **With people:** Friendly and affectionate, but prefers respectful interactions **Daily Life** * **Leash manners:** Generally good. He may pull a bit when excited but remains controllable. He has a tendency to pick up food from the ground, so attentive leash handling is important. * **House training:** Fully house-trained. He marks outdoors during walks but does not eliminate indoors. * **Separation anxiety:** None * **Barking:** Minimal. He may briefly bark if someone is outside the door or if a stranger enters the home. **Likes & Dislikes** * **Loves:** Toys, treats, and going for walks * **Dislikes:** Being startled and walking in the rain --- **Diet** Cotton is currently on a hypoallergenic diet due to suspected protein allergies. He loves treats more than kibble, so consistent dietary management will be important to prevent weight gain. **Ideal Home** Cotton would thrive in a calm, structured home with guardians who understand gentle handling and are mindful of his medical history and dietary needs. He is not demanding, adapts well to routine, and will make a steady, loyal companion. **Personality in three words:** Easygoing, perceptive, shy-but-sweet 💙 Adoption Fee Information The adoption fee already includes all major expenses, such as: - International transportation - Customs and export documentation - Medical care (spay surgery, vaccinations, health certificate, deworming, etc.) For this reason, we kindly ask that you refrain from requesting a breakdown or negotiation of the adoption fee. Story
Meet Charlie. This gorgeous boy with the striking marbled coat came from a breeder in a small town outside Charlotte, NC. Charlie is a double merle, which occurs when two merle-patterned dogs are bred together and can result in vision loss. Because of his limited sight, the breeder was unable to sell him and listed him on a Facebook rehoming page. Thankfully, one of our local volunteers, Dina, saw the post and stepped in to get Charlie safely into rescue. Charlie has been in Dina’s home for the past two months and is fully integrated into her pack of 5 pups. He’s best paired with a playful dog his size or larger, because this young boy loves to wrestle and play. While he is technically blind, Dina believes he can see shapes and shadows, and his limited vision doesn’t slow him down one bit. It’s the only life he’s ever known, and he fully embraces it. Dina has been amazed by how adaptable Charlie is, both at home and out on walks. Within just a week, he learned to climb her non-carpeted stairs (she still carries him down to be safe!). He navigates the world using his strong sense of smell and hearing and lives life like any other happy, confident dog. He's mostly potty-trained but needs regular breaks and has been exposed to the crate for short periods of time. Dina shared this update: “Charlie is a snuggly pup, and Shih Tzus are very social dogs. He loves to bury his nose near your cheek and sleeps well through the night, cuddling in bed with me. He takes after the Shih Tzu personality more than the poodle. He loves being picked up, too. When you pick him up, he tilts his head back like Stevie Wonder. He’s playful but not overly energetic and loves all kinds of toys, especially ones that make noise when they hit the floor, like squeaks, rattles, or crunchy plastic bottle sounds. That helps him find them quickly. He has moderate energy. He plays with my dog Bentley or enjoys zoomies in an open grassy area. He also keeps himself busy with a Benebone, bully stick, or lick mat, then happily settles on the couch or floor.” Charlie’s ideal home would include a fenced yard for zoomies and another playful canine companion. Like any dog, he’ll need a gradual introduction to a new home—and with limited vision, taking things a bit slower is important. Starting with one safe room and gradually expanding his access helps him learn his surroundings. When introducing other pets, moving slowly and using jingling tags can help Charlie hear them approaching and feel more comfortable initiating interactions. He’s also best walked on a short leash for added guidance and security. Charlie is joyful, fearless, and ready for a home that will  Apply today!
