Story
Bippity and Boppity were surrendered together to a local shelter. HART scooped them right up. These two are super nice. They love belly rubs and are open to being touched and held. They LOVE attention! Boppity (the female) is a little more timid than the boy and patiently waits while he gets attention first. She is very pretty and feminine, smaller that him. At 2 years old, they are fully grown. Their foster say she gave them a nice blanket and 2 squeaky toys and they really seem to appreciate everything that they have. They can be adopted separately but Boppity may appreciate another dog in the home as she is always checking in with Bippity. Questions About this Animal? Story
He is kind and very playful. He loves toys and is friendly and very independent. He likes to cuddle under the sheets. Obi has a one-year-old Yorkiechon brother who have never been apart since the day they were born. They are deeply bonded — play together, protect one another, and truly find comfort in each other’s presence. Because of this bond, separating them would break their hearts. They are incredibly sweet, affectionate, and loving dogs with gentle souls and lots of energy. Watching them interact, you can see how much they rely on each other — it’s not just companionship, it’s family. Both boys completed two weeks of OFF LEASH K9 training, and they did very well. Like any training, it must be consistently reinforced at home to be successful long-term. They will thrive with an adopter who understands that training is an ongoing commitment and is happy to continue working with them—particularly if they choose to keep them together.

Story
Mariah was adopted January 2026! Mariah is a sweet, affectionate little dog with a charming personality that’s impossible not to love. One of her most endearing quirks is the way she pirouettes as she walks, clearly delighted by the world around her. Mariah thrives on companionship and would be happiest in a calm home where she can enjoy plenty of attention, cuddles, and quality time with her people. She has a nice balance of energy and enthusiasm, enjoys going for walks throughout the day, and will occasionally treat you to happy zoomies. Mariah comes when called, knows how to sit, and is eager to please—especially when treats are involved—making continued training very achievable. Housetraining has been a breeze when she’s taken out promptly after meals. She’ll also let you know when she needs a daytime potty break. Mariah tolerates being crated and is comfortable eating in her crate, though she prefers having free access to the main living areas of the home. Mariah is hypoallergenic and requires moderate, regular grooming to keep her coat healthy and comfortable. If you’re looking for a loving, devoted companion and can offer a calm, caring forever home, Mariah may be the perfect match for you. Please complete an application to meet her! I'm Abbie, and I'm the SWEETEST lap dog you will find! I'm a senior, easy going and quiet gal, which means I can live in an apartment, condo or townhome! Not only am I a chill gal, but I get along great with dogs of all sizes, people and likely cats. I'm just not bothered, in fact, I am a confident lady (not shy or timid). I do have one request though. I must be able to sleep in the big bed with my humans, sorry, non-negotiable!!! The weather is getting chilly, and I'm looking for that warm lap-human to keep me cozy. Please apply today if you are the one for me. Story
Hi everyone! I'm Duke, a little ball of adorable friendliness. I am an owner surrender looking for a new home to call my own. I just landed at my foster home, and so far, she describes me as low key. I enjoy sleeping in the big bed with my foster, so I hope whoever adopts me will let me do the same! I get along with other dogs, but am a little intimidated by the big ones. Please consider making me a part of your family. Story
Meet Clyde. The sweet senior was surrendered with his brother, Charlie, to our rescue by the only family they’ve ever known. While these two boys technically had a home, they were kept in the basement and did not have the care or engagement they deserved. Both dogs came into the rescue in dire need of dental work, both living with pain and infection. Clyde also had a heart murmur that needed medication. Both pups have been fully vetted, had dental work, and been groomed, and they’re getting lots of love and attention and flourishing in wonderful foster homes. These pups are exceptionally sweet, easygoing seniors who do well with cats, dogs, and all people. NOTE: Charlie and Clyde are not bonded, but they are friends. Since they can be adopted as a pair or separately, we are featuring each pup individually. Clyde is a charming 11-year-old Maltese who will melt your heart with his soft cuddles and soulful eyes. He is a very gentle, affectionate, and laid-back boy who loves to be near his people and enjoys cuddling with his dog buddies. His foster home is an active household with a mom, dad, teen son, and two larger dogs, and he does well with everyone. Clyde would thrive in a quiet, loving home with someone who understands the joy and fulfillment of caring for and loving a senior dog. Whether you’re retired, work from home, or just want a sweet companion to keep you company, Clyde is ready to bring his gentle presence into your life. He enjoys short, leisurely strolls or just hanging out at home — he’s very adaptable and the perfect buddy for someone who enjoys a slower pace of life. He would do best in a home with a laidback pup companion and really appreciates the companionship of a dog buddy. As a senior, Clyde has some health issues to manage. He has a grade 4 to 5 heart murmur, which requires daily medications. We had an echocardiogram done to assess his condition, and he was cleared for dental surgery. He’s doing well on the medication and already had his dental cleaning and extractions. He’s feeling so much better now; his mouth infections are gone, and he has a new pep in his step. Clyde’s care will include bi-yearly bloodwork (which all seniors should have) and regular echocardiograms to monitor his heart condition every 6 to 12 months. Because of his past home conditions, Clyde currently wears a belly band during the day to protect him from marking or pee accidents. He knows to potty outside and will always poop outside. We suspect he has a mix of learned behavior from his prior home, older age, and some of the medications he is on make him more prone to potty. He has already learned to hold it overnight and enjoys snuggling up with this foster family in bed, so we’ve seen improvement. His foster mom has also noted that he tends to have more accidents when change or activity happens…so we think he could continue to improve in a calm environment. Despite his medical needs, Clyde’s foster mom, Jenn, describes him as a lovable, low-maintenance companion who is happiest snuggled up beside you or snoozing in a cozy bed. Clyde is a calm little guy who doesn’t ask for much — just a quiet, loving home where he can enjoy his golden years. Clyde may have a few extra needs, but the love he has to give is immeasurable. If you have room in your heart and home for this sweet senior, consider Clyde and apply today. Story
Meet Charlie. This gorgeous boy with the striking marbled coat came from a breeder in a small town outside Charlotte, NC. Charlie is a double merle, which occurs when two merle-patterned dogs are bred together and can result in vision loss. Because of his limited sight, the breeder was unable to sell him and listed him on a Facebook rehoming page. Thankfully, one of our local volunteers, Dina, saw the post and stepped in to get Charlie safely into rescue. Charlie has been in Dina’s home for the past two months and is fully integrated into her pack of 5 pups. He’s best paired with a playful dog his size or larger, because this young boy loves to wrestle and play. While he is technically blind, Dina believes he can see shapes and shadows, and his limited vision doesn’t slow him down one bit. It’s the only life he’s ever known, and he fully embraces it. Dina has been amazed by how adaptable Charlie is, both at home and out on walks. Within just a week, he learned to climb her non-carpeted stairs (she still carries him down to be safe!). He navigates the world using his strong sense of smell and hearing and lives life like any other happy, confident dog. He's mostly potty-trained but needs regular breaks and has been exposed to the crate for short periods of time. Dina shared this update: “Charlie is a snuggly pup, and Shih Tzus are very social dogs. He loves to bury his nose near your cheek and sleeps well through the night, cuddling in bed with me. He takes after the Shih Tzu personality more than the poodle. He loves being picked up, too. When you pick him up, he tilts his head back like Stevie Wonder. He’s playful but not overly energetic and loves all kinds of toys, especially ones that make noise when they hit the floor, like squeaks, rattles, or crunchy plastic bottle sounds. That helps him find them quickly. He has moderate energy. He plays with my dog Bentley or enjoys zoomies in an open grassy area. He also keeps himself busy with a Benebone, bully stick, or lick mat, then happily settles on the couch or floor.” Charlie’s ideal home would include a fenced yard for zoomies and another playful canine companion. Like any dog, he’ll need a gradual introduction to a new home—and with limited vision, taking things a bit slower is important. Starting with one safe room and gradually expanding his access helps him learn his surroundings. When introducing other pets, moving slowly and using jingling tags can help Charlie hear them approaching and feel more comfortable initiating interactions. He’s also best walked on a short leash for added guidance and security. Charlie is joyful, fearless, and ready for a home that will  Apply today!
