Story
Meet Alfie: Alfie is a 9-year-old Dachshund mix who was rescued from Alabama and is now ready to find a cozy forever home. With his moderate energy level, Alfie is the perfect balance of playful and relaxed—happy to enjoy a short walk or playtime, then curl up for a long cuddle. Alfie absolutely loves to cuddle and is a big fan of toys, which still bring out his playful side. He does well in an apartment or condo setting and would be a wonderful companion for seniors or anyone looking for a calmer, affectionate dog. He is dog selective, so he’d do best as the only dog or with careful introductions. Alfie doesn’t require prior dog experience, making him a great match for first-time adopters who are ready to give him patience and love. If you’re looking for a loyal, snuggly companion with a gentle spirit, Alfie might be your perfect match.

Story
Brooklyn is a one year old Chiweenie (Chihuahua/Dachshund mix).  30 pounds- and yes, she needs to be on a diet!  Good with other dogs and all the people she meets, including children.  Adopter will be required to have her spayed and brought up to date on her vaccines and testing. Brooklyn is in our direct-from owner program.  Chesed Rescue will background and vet check all applicants and adoption will be directly from the owner.  There will be no adoption fee, though donations to the rescue are appreciated. Story
1 year old female  11 pounds  Canela was rescued from the streets of Puerto Rico and is still learning that everything isn’t scary. She jumps at new things and sometimes things she’s seen before.  She takes a little bit to get used to new situations, but is getting better all the time. Once she gets comfortable with someone, she would like to be next to them as much as possible. She cuddles up to women faster than men, but it does happen within a couple of days.  Canela really needs another young and confident dog in her forever home to show her how good life can be. She loves to play and we want to be sure she has a playmate. A backyard would be ideal for her to run and play in.  She needs a family that will give her the time she needs to feel safe and comfortable. If you are interested in adopting me, please complete the DRSF Online Adoption form.My adoption fee covers all my (prior) vet care (adopter receives vet records).  For more information refer to the DRSF Adoption Fee page.If you have any questions about adoption or want more info, you can email: info@dachshundrescuesouthflorida.comDecember 8, 2025, 8:40 pm

Story
Pina is a 1 year old female. She weighs 13 pounds. Pina is good with other dogs. She came from a hoarder house and is a weirdo. She’s not at all aggressive, but the inbreeding that happened in that house was hard on her. She likes to be pet, but gets scared of hands sometimes. Her eyes are structurally not correct and she’s been like that since birth. She can see, but mostly shadows and light and dark. She is crate trained and likes to know how things go, a strict schedule isn’t necessary, but her place to eat and sleep should be consistent. Sometimes she runs in circles, but she isn’t bothered by it She will need a patient family, but she is well worth it!
