Story
Hi, I'm Nora! I'm an 8 year old girl that is special needs. I have diabetes insipidus which you can read more about online but basically it is not treated with insulin. Currently I am on a medication for it twice daily and it seems to be helping. I'm a sweet girl but not a fan of other animals so I'm looking to be your one and only. What do you say? Take a senior girly home and love me forever.  If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2620129##

Missy is a sweet, timid old gal who is looking for a home to retire in. She`s pretty timid, which is to be expected as her last owner had to surrender her due to no longer being able to care for her, after having Missy for 4 years. Missy still watches the door at her foster home, waiting for her previous person. Missy would do best in a calm environment where she can rebuild her trust. She loves to go on walks and spend time wandering the yard. She is slowly learning to trust and enjoy pets and attention from her fosters which include two kids. She tolerates the other dogs in her foster home very well but does not really want to play with them.She is still agile and able to navigate very well around her foster home including going up and down flights of stairs. She does well in her kennel and rarely if ever barks.Would you consider giving this gal a home where she can be loved and comfortable for the rest of her years?
