Hi, I'm Nora! I'm an 8 year old girl that is special needs. I have diabetes insipidus which you can read more about online but basically it is not treated with insulin. Currently I am on a medication for it twice daily and it seems to be helping. I'm a sweet girl but not a fan of other animals so I'm looking to be your one and only. What do you say? Take a senior girly home and love me forever.  If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2620129##

Winnie came to us because her owner left and the person she left her with didn`t have time for her. He says she is good with cats, not sure about dogs. We haven`t tested with kids yet either. She is a bit shy for a few minutes, but warms up nicely and her happy personality comes out! She weighs in at 35 pounds, so she`s now on a little diet to take off a few of those pounds. More to come on this beautiful girl!!
