Story
Meet Tony… again! 🐾 Tony had his first meet-and-greet yesterday, and we learned something new about him — he’s a little fearful of men. We’re not sure if this comes from a past experience or simply not being around men much before, but he definitely told us he prefers the company of the ladies right now. Because of this, Tony would do best in an all-female household or a co-ed home with a very patient man who is willing to give Tony the time and space he needs to build trust. Aside from that, Tony is truly a wonderful little dachshund. He is: • Potty trained • Good on a leash • Excellent with other dogs He hasn’t been around large breed dogs yet, but he absolutely loves to cuddle, eat, and soak up attention. Tony would thrive in a home where someone is around most of the time, and he would also do just fine as an only dog soaking up all the love. Other than needing a little patience with men, Tony is your typical charming dachshund who’s ready to steal your heart. Story
Meet Rowan Burrowshanks!! Rowan has been rehabilitating with Wagging Tails rescue for just over a year. He is an approximately 8 year old long-haired chocolate dachshund weighing in at about 16 pounds. When he arrived, he was unable to use his rear legs or urinate on his own because of an untreated spinal injury, which is unfortunately common with this breed. Since then, he has received chiropractic and holistic care from the wonderful Dr. Bradshaw with Agape Animal Chiropractic as well as physical therapy at home with his foster mom and is WALKING again!!!! He has gained back about 75% of his ability to urinate on his own. His foster mom still expresses his bladder 1-2 times a day, but he is usually able to get most of his tinkles out by himself. We just do the additional expression to help prevent urinary tract infections. He is able to poo on his own, but it's occasionally a surprise to him when it shows up, so there are times when he may have an accident in the home. Rowan is a quirky guy, so will require a special forever family. He's a genuinely happy little dude, but is socially awkward. He gives warning nips when he is uncomfortable or frightened, so we do not recommend a home with children. Since he needs his bladder expressed, we would prefer a home with someone who has experience doing so, since he will be quick to correct anyone who is causing him pain or discomfort. He does not like to be picked up because of his back issue, but he's happy to chill out on a fluffy blanket or dog bed at your feet. Now that he can walk again, his tail is always wagging. Rowan is somewhat slow to warm up to new people, but if you are patient with him, he will soon be asking for endless belly rubs, and will stare into your eyes like you're the only human in the world. He loves squeaky toys, smooshy beds, blankets, naps, and like most dachshunds, he was born with a German engineered early warning system pre-installed, so you will never need a doorbell again! He is well-behaved at bath-time, and very much enjoys being blow-dried after his baths. He's a master napping buddy and will be forever loyal to you if you can show him kindness, patience, and understanding. He gets along well with the other dachshunds and small dogs in his foster home, but gets nervous with bigger dogs. He doesn't really show interest in playing with the other dogs, so he would be fine as an only dog. He cannot go up and down stairs or ramps because of his back, so a one-story home would be best for him. We know Rowan isn't everyone's idea of a perfect dog, but he deserves to have a forever family just like any other "normal" dog. Are you his perfect match? Story
Lady Pati was picked up as a stray, crossing busy streets and eating out of the trash. She is loving life in her foster home where she naps on a soft bed, enjoys regular, yummy meals and gets lots of love. This cutie likes walks and gets along well with other dogs. She is lower energy and although she's a bit shy at first meeting, she has a gentle personality that steals hearts everywhere she goes. She is estimated to be 3 years old and she weighs 26 lbs. Story
Hi, I’m Sadie! I’m a Dachshund mix weighing about 20 lbs and will be 5 years old in the spring. I am very affectionate and love to snuggle. I am easy to take care of, I love to sleep in, and I don’t bark. I only need a few walks a day to take care of business and smell the outdoors. All my shots are current, I’m spayed and I’m house-trained. I’m loyal and also protective of my owner, which sometimes makes me growl at other dogs that I don’t know, so it’s best to keep me at a distance from them. I can also be a little shy around strangers, and I like the chance to warm up to them first. My current owner is getting up in years and can’t take me for walks anymore, so I’m starting to put on some weight. I would benefit from a younger owner who can take me for longer walks. I'm used to being the only dog in the house and, although I get along okay with most other dogs, I really want to be your one-and-only. I think a fenced yard would also be good for me. Are you ready for a sweet, loving dog who is happy to curl up by your side all day long? Here I am! Sadie is good with adults and older/considerate/gentle kids; good in the car; likes to be in your lap; affectionate; obedient and eager to please; intelligent; even-tempered and gentle. If you are interested in meeting and possibly adopting Sadie, the first step is to submit an adoption application. Please go to our website www.k9bestfriendsforever.com and click on "Adopt" which will take you to our online application form.

Story
Meet Cooper! 🐾 Cooper is a one-and-a-half-year-old Dachshund mix with a BIG personality packed into a low-rider body! This little “wiener dude” is full of life, love, and nonstop wiggles. Friendly? Absolutely. Energetic? 1000%. Cooper is still very young at heart and has that classic “dog with ADHD” vibe — always moving, always curious, always ready for the next adventure. He would thrive in an active home that can keep up with his zoomies and give him plenty of playtime, structure, and exercise. Important notes about Cooper: • No cats — he is not feline-friendly. • Would do best with someone who understands high-energy dogs. • Training and consistency will help him channel all that enthusiasm into being the best boy ever. Cooper is incredibly sweet and loves people — he just comes with turbo mode permanently switched on. If you’re looking for a fun, silly, loyal sidekick who will keep you laughing and on your toes, Cooper is your guy.
