Story
Meet Rowan Burrowshanks!! Rowan has been rehabilitating with Wagging Tails rescue for just over a year. He is an approximately 8 year old long-haired chocolate dachshund weighing in at about 16 pounds. When he arrived, he was unable to use his rear legs or urinate on his own because of an untreated spinal injury, which is unfortunately common with this breed. Since then, he has received chiropractic and holistic care from the wonderful Dr. Bradshaw with Agape Animal Chiropractic as well as physical therapy at home with his foster mom and is WALKING again!!!! He has gained back about 75% of his ability to urinate on his own. His foster mom still expresses his bladder 1-2 times a day, but he is usually able to get most of his tinkles out by himself. We just do the additional expression to help prevent urinary tract infections. He is able to poo on his own, but it's occasionally a surprise to him when it shows up, so there are times when he may have an accident in the home.Rowan is a quirky guy, so will require a special forever family. He's a genuinely happy little dude, but is socially awkward. He gives warning nips when he is uncomfortable or frightened, so we do not recommend a home with children. Since he needs his bladder expressed, we would prefer a home with someone who has experience doing so, since he will be quick to correct anyone who is causing him pain or discomfort. He does not like to be picked up because of his back issue, but he's happy to chill out on a fluffy blanket or dog bed at your feet. Now that he can walk again, his tail is always wagging.Rowan is somewhat slow to warm up to new people, but if you are patient with him, he will soon be asking for endless belly rubs, and will stare into your eyes like you're the only human in the world. He loves squeaky toys, smooshy beds, blankets, naps, and like most dachshunds, he was born with a German engineered early warning system pre-installed, so you will never need a doorbell again! He is well-behaved at bath-time, and very much enjoys being blow-dried after his baths. He's a master napping buddy and will be forever loyal to you if you can show him kindness, patience, and understanding. He gets along well with the other dachshunds and small dogs in his foster home, but gets nervous with bigger dogs. He doesn't really show interest in playing with the other dogs, so he would be fine as an only dog. He cannot go up and down stairs or ramps because of his back, so a one-story home would be best for him. We know Rowan isn't everyone's idea of a perfect dog, but he deserves to have a forever family just like any other "normal" dog. Are you his perfect match? Please send in an application at www.waggingtailsrescue.org

Story
Hi, I’m Sadie! I’m a Dachshund mix weighing about 20 lbs and will be 5 years old in the spring. I am very affectionate and love to snuggle. I am easy to take care of, I love to sleep in, and I don’t bark. I only need a few walks a day to take care of business and smell the outdoors. All my shots are current, I’m spayed and I’m house-trained. I’m loyal and also protective of my owner, which sometimes makes me growl at other dogs that I don’t know, so it’s best to keep me at a distance from them. I can also be a little shy around strangers, and I like the chance to warm up to them first. My current owner is getting up in years and can’t take me for walks anymore, so I’m starting to put on some weight. I would benefit from a younger owner who can take me for longer walks. I'm used to being the only dog in the house and, although I get along okay with most other dogs, I really want to be your one-and-only. I think a fenced yard would also be good for me. Are you ready for a sweet, loving dog who is happy to curl up by your side all day long? Here I am! Sadie is good with adults and older/considerate/gentle kids; good in the car; likes to be in your lap; affectionate; obedient and eager to please; intelligent; even-tempered and gentle. If you are interested in meeting and possibly adopting Sadie, the first step is to submit an adoption application. Please go to our website www.k9bestfriendsforever.com and click on "Adopt" which will take you to our online application form.

Story
** PLEASE EMAIL questions, please DO NOT call. We are a volunteer based group and are unable to handle the call volume. WE HOLD ADOPTIONS ON SATURDAYS & SUNDAYS FROM 10-4 PM at our Adoption Center. Our adoption center is located next to CAL Ranch at 232 North Jones (I-95) Suite 170. NO APPOINTMENT NECESSARY, just walk right in. Martha's Ana aka Hannah is about 10 yrs old and weighs about 12 lbs. She has the energy of a young pup. She can be very shy at first but once she feels comfortable she is very playful with both people and other dogs. Once you're in her heart, she'll be loyal to you in every sense of the word. She is a good girl who really enjoys running around and going for walks outside. She also loves to lay out in the sun and cuddle up in a nice warm blanket, especially if it's on your lap. She is very good with common commands and is house and crate trained. Loud or unexpected sounds tend to frighten her so young children may unknowingly startle her at times. She may be best suited for a family with older kids who understand this or adults. She is good with other dogs also Hannah was recently dumped by her family the day before her 10th Birthday. Her family who adopted her at 7 months took her to a kill shelter instead of calling us to return her. The reason? They had a baby and did not have time for her anymore. Hannah looking for FOREVER but would love a foster home while she waits. A Path 4 Paws holds adoption events at our Adoptions Center, located at 232 N. Jones Blvd, Suite 170 right next to CAL Ranch (North Jones/ I-95). Please bring your dog(s) for a meet and greet (if applicable) Please bring your entire family so everyone can meet. If you are interested in Martha's Ana aka Hannah, please contact dogrescuelv@hotmail.com to confirm the dog you are interested in, will be attending that particular event. We have limited space at the store, therefore we can not take every dog out to the event. This pet comes with 30 days of free post-adoption support through Petcademy.org . This benefit includes free access to Petcademy's team of trainers/behaviorists, as well as access to online materials that will help you settle Martha's Ana aka Hannah into your home. You can text unlimited questions to Petcademy and they'll respond within 24 hours, Monday-Friday. This pet is spayed/neutered, has current vaccinations and includes a microchip, deworming and 2 free vet visits, including a Healthy Start Certificate with the VCA Hospitals with a $250 health credit (restrictions apply).
