You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Frederick is our sweet little old man. He was found as a stray and landed in a shelter. We rescued him soon after. He was a shelter favorite and needed a dental asap. He also had some skin issues but now his skin has cleared up and he is flea free. He immediately blended in with his foster family of dogs and new humans. He loves to play with his ball and sunbathe on the deck. He is definitely a lap dog but he does love his special chair. Good with all dogs and cats, neutered and heartworm negative. Meet Monse!!🩷 Monse is just over a year old and full of life! She has a big personality and even bigger energy. She absolutely loves to play and gets so excited when she sees kids or other animals — she’s very friendly and social. Monse would thrive in a home where she has someone who can match her playful energy. She would do great with an active person, a family, or anyone who has the time to run around and play with her daily. This has been a very hard decision for me. Because of my work schedule, I come home exhausted and can’t give her the level of activity and attention she truly deserves. I want her to have the fullest life possible. Monse does have a small hernia that a vet said can be repaired at the time of her spay surgery. I have not been able to complete that due to cost, but it is something that can be addressed with proper veterinary care.

This sweet girl has been through a lot — she came to the shelter after her beloved owner passed away. She was found faithfully staying by their side, and while that loss has made her a bit cautious at first, it’s also shown just how deeply she bonds. Bebe can be a little skittish when meeting new people, and she’s still timid in unfamiliar situations. But give her a little reassurance, a soft voice, and some patience, and you’ll see her melt. Once she trusts you, she settles in beautifully and becomes the ultimate companion. She would thrive in a quiet, calm home where she can feel safe and secure. Because she likes to alert-bark at new or unfamiliar noises, an apartment or condo setting wouldn’t be the best fit for her. She’s mostly housetrained and does best with a consistent routine. Bebe would do well in a home with kids over 10 who understand how to be gentle and respectful. She’s fine with visiting younger children, especially when interactions are calm and supervised. She would absolutely love another playful dog to romp around with — or an active family who will happily toss a ball for her (her favorite game!).  And when playtime is over? Bebe is a huge snuggle bug. Her favorite place in the world is curled up in your lap, soaking up all the love. She’ll happily trade zoomies for cuddles in a heartbeat. If you’re looking for a loyal, playful, lap-loving companion who just needs a little patience to shine, Bebe may be your perfect match. Story
Miriam's Christmas wish came just a few days before Christmas when she entered the doors of a shelter. Surrendered by her homeless owner who could not provide the medical care she desperately needed and rescue was called to come to her rescue! This older black and tan gal was full of mammary tumors, in need of a spay (to stop the growth of said mammary tumors) and a significant dental. It has taken us some time to get her medical completed as she had to have a double mastectomy to remove all of the tumors - so that has required 2 major surgeries. Thankfully all tumors came back benign - the beginning of Miriam finding her new "leash" on life! But Miriam, in true dachshund fashion, has handled all of her medical care in stride! Miriam loves to be with her humans and enjoys lots of belly rubs and cuddles. She is good with small dogs, housebroken, good on a leash. She loves going outdoors for a short walk and to bark at birds, leaves and snowflakes. She prefers to sleep in the big bed with her humans and is a gold medal Olympic Champion at burrowing under the covers. Miriam is very food motivated. She is not tested with cats but can be upon request. No apartments or condos because Miriam does tend to like to hear herself "talk". She definitely will let you know if she feels her meal is late or if she deserves more treats. Not tested with children but would probably do fine with them. His favorite place is curled up on the couch with his people, or tucked under the covers like the cozy little burrower he is. He loves sitting on laps and will happily nudge you if you stop petting him before he’s ready — because in Nathan’s opinion, there’s no such thing as too many pets.And like many dachshunds, Nathan has opinions! If something isn’t quite the way he likes it, he won’t hesitate to let you know. He also LOVES to eat and is always excited when it’s time for a meal or snack. Because he lost a lot of teeth in his dental, his tongue hangs out in the most adorable way, but it doesn't stop him at all when mealtime comes.Nathan is neutered, had senior bloodwork, UTD on vaccines, heartworm negative, and microchipped. He had a dental with many extractions and will likely need additional work in the future.His new family will need to travel to Raleigh, NC area to adopt him - no transports. We prefer to adopt to families in NC, VA, SC, eastern TN, northern GA, southern MD, DC area and WV.
