You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Frederick is our sweet little old man. He was found as a stray and landed in a shelter. We rescued him soon after. He was a shelter favorite and needed a dental asap. He also had some skin issues but now his skin has cleared up and he is flea free. He immediately blended in with his foster family of dogs and new humans. He loves to play with his ball and sunbathe on the deck. He is definitely a lap dog but he does love his special chair. Story
Meet Max — the Velcro Dog ExtraordinaireDachshund Mix (possibly Beagle or other hound)9 years22 lbsFostered in Holly SpringsQuick Stats: Loves cats Gets along with small/medium dogs, but could be only Housebroken Great walker, car-ride champ Crates are not his thing Needs a single-family home (no shared walls) Kids 8+ LOVES his person… like, a lotMax is a certified Velcro Dog: if he could merge into your hoodie, he would. His love language is “personal space? never heard of her.” When you’re gone, he posts up on the back of the couch like a furry security guard waiting for your grand return. And he LOVES blankets and has the most adorable self-blanketing routine we've ever seen - check out the video in the comments. He came into rescue when his elderly owner, who adored him, could no longer safely navigate around his enthusiastic under-foot devotion. After a few weeks in foster care, Max is thriving and officially accepting applications for his forever human.Looking for a buddy for hikes, breweries, festivals, or casual neighborhood fame? Max is your guy. He makes friends easily, walks like a pro, and rides in the car like he’s training for a road-trip Olympics. He’s housebroken and politely sits by the door when he needs out—though if you miss his signal, he may leave you a gentle “reminder,” so routine is your friend. Crates? Hard pass from Max. His new people will need to use a pen, leave him out, or be ready to work on slow-and-steady crate training.Because Max loves hard, he will absolutely let you—and your neighbors—know when you’ve left the building. Single-family home required. He’d also prefer someone home more often than not. He adores cats, like LOVES them in a way rarely found in dachshunds. If his human isn't available, we often find him snuggling with the cat.Max gets along with small/medium dogs. But this dude would also be happy to hog all the attention as an only dog. Big dogs in his home? No thanks. He randomly decides he's 100 pounds and tries to tell off the big dogs when they get in his space. But seeing big dogs on walks or out on adventures? Totally fine.Max is neutered, up to date on shots, HW negative, freshly dentally tuned-up, microchipped, and working on shedding a few pounds (his beach-body era is coming). At first, we thought he had selective dachshund hearing, but we now think he has some hearing loss.Max's new family will need to drive to Holly Spring, NC (Raleigh area) to adopt their new BFF. We prefer families in NC, VA, SC, eastern TN, WV, or DC area. To get the process of adopting Max started, fill out an application at www.doxiebyproxy.org/applicationIf you want a loyal, goofy, affectionate shadow who transforms ordinary days into excellent ones, Max is ready to attach himself—lovingly—to your life. And if Max isn't a fit for your family, share his bio so we can get this guy what he really wants for Christmas — his very own forever family. ##2580484##

Story
Rosie came to us from a rural county shelter. She was surrendered to them after being found in a Walmart parking lot. She is approximately 1 year old, already spayed, dachshund mix. Rosie weighs about 24 lbs and is up to date on all vaccines. Rosie's ideal household would be one with lots of love and attention. Rosie loves to use her nose to sniff around outside and is housebroken. She is content cuddling next to you on the couch or going for an afternoon stroll. Rosie's current foster reports that she is house trained and will go to the door when she needs to relieve herself. The foster home that Rosie is currently in has both dogs and cats. Rosie can be timid when meeting new people and new animals. She warms up quickly with pets and treats.

Story
Meet Missy! Missy is an adorable young Dachshund–Poodle mix with a playful spirit and a big heart. She loves to romp around and enjoys the company of other dogs. While she gets along well with canine friends, she can be a bit possessive of her toys and food around other pets—but never with people. She’s a sweetheart through and through.   Missy is potty trained as long as she’s taken out on a regular schedule. With her loving personality and cheerful energy, she’ll make a wonderful companion for someone looking for a loyal furry friend. ##2588347##
