Story
Ping Pong is an estimated 1 year old male mixed breed. He has short stubby legs and a long body so we are thinking there is some Dachshund in there. 26 pounds, which is a good weight for him. He was found as a stray. He is overwhelmed here in the shelter, doesn't understand what he is doing here. He is looking for a patient adopter who can give him time to adjust to his new situation. Basic obedience training is not just a great way to bond with your new dog it's a great way to give a nervous dog a confidence boost. Ping Pong is up to date on vaccines, has tested negative for heartworm disease and his adoption fee includes a voucher for the mandatory neuter and microchip.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Frederick is our sweet little old man. He was found as a stray and landed in a shelter. We rescued him soon after. He was a shelter favorite and needed a dental asap. He also had some skin issues but now his skin has cleared up and he is flea free. He immediately blended in with his foster family of dogs and new humans. He loves to play with his ball and sunbathe on the deck. He is definitely a lap dog but he does love his special chair. Good with all dogs and cats, neutered and heartworm negative. Story
Harley (female) 7 years 13 lbs Located in Raleigh area AKA: Harley Quinn, Lil Miss Priss (or Piss ), Missus, Sis/Sister, Miss Chevious Short list: Must be an only dog, working on housetraining, leash trained, crate trained, no cats, no kids under 10, eats prescription food for past GI issues Harley is a 13-pound diva with a big personality and even bigger feelings. She follows commands beautifully… but always makes sure to add her own commentary at the end. Yes, in true dachshund style, she's professional barker so no apartments or condos for this gal. Harley is a little anxious at times but endlessly gentle and loving. A gentle soul with a flair for the dramatic, Harley absolutely lives for affection (her fur is impossibly soft and she knows it). She’s a certified Velcro dog and an undisputed lovebug —if you sit down, expect company. If you lie down, expect to lose half the bed. Minimum. Harley is deeply devoted to her person and can be protective of her people from other dogs. We are looking for a home where she is the only dog. That said, she is not dog-reactive and does just fine seeing other dogs on walks or at the vet—she simply prefers to be the sole recipient of your attention. She is also not a fan of cats, so she needs a cat free home. She is also working on house training and will dramatically flop onto her belly if she thinks she’s in trouble (a consummate actress). Her new family should expect accidents and be prepared to continue working on housetraining. Harley eats well and has a history of GI issues, which are well managed with prescription food that keeps her feeling her best. Harley also had bladder stones in her past and had surgery so her new family will need to keep an eye out for urinary issues in the future. She is spayed, UTD on shots, heartworm negative, had bloodwork, had a dental, and microchipped. Harley is fostered in the Raleigh area and her new family must drive to her foster home to adopt - no transports. We prefer to adopt to families in VA, SC, NC, DC area, eastern TN, northern GA and WV. To apply to adopt, fill out an application at www.doxiebyproxy.org/application She’ll steal your spot, your blanket, and your whole heart—then bark once more, just to be sure you noticed. ##2623086##

Story
Meet Cook Out — your adventure-loving sidekick! Cook Out is a 3-year-old Dachshund/Beagle mix with a big personality packed into a perfect 20-pound frame. He was found hanging out in a Quality Inn parking lot (clearly waiting for his forever family) and is now ready to trade motel life for a cozy home of his own. This little guy loves to play and would thrive in a dog-savvy home with another higher-energy dog who’s ready to be his built-in best friend. Cook Out is smart, enthusiastic, and always up for fun—whether that’s a game of chase, a car ride, or heading out on a new adventure. He’d make an awesome hiking partner and will happily hop in the car to go wherever the day takes you. Cook Out does have a few quirks that make him extra special. He has some resource guarding tendencies (he likes the guard the lap of the individual he is snuggling at the time), so he’s looking for a home experienced with mild behavior challenges. The good news? He comes with free training in the Greensboro area to help set everyone up for success—Cook Out included! In the home, Cook Out is a rockstar: Crate trained Leash trained Great with cats Super friendly and polite when out and about If you’re looking for a wicked smart, playful, and loyal companion—and you enjoy working with a dog who will keep you on your toes—Cook Out might just be your perfect match. Ready to bring home a pup with personality, brains, and a love for adventure? Cook Out is waiting to meet you!  ##2547111##
