Story
Dachshund Mix6 years old25 poundsFostered in Raleigh Area Short version: Devoted, Hosetrained, cratetrained, must be only dog in the home, good with kids over 12, working family friendly, respectful apartment/condo resident Looking for a snuggle buddy? Want a partner for long walks and adventures? Got no other pets in the home? Then Lucy, also affectionately known as Lucy Goosey, Lula and Lulupalooza, just may be the Christmas present you’ve been looking for. Lucy landed in our arms after she had multiple fights in her home over food, especially human. The took great care of her, loved her dearly and did everything possible to make it work, but for everyones safety, they realized she needs a new home. So now we are looking for a home for Lucy where she can be an only pet. She has no issues with food with adults and teenages, but since she did growl once at a younger kid over a granola bar, we are looking for a family with no kids under 12. This confident gal adapts very easy – she walked in her foster home and immediately jumped on the couch. She is housetrained – not a single acccident and is a very respectful condo residents so apartments and shared walls are find for this pup. Lucy is friendly with new people and loves to give kidsses, but not so many you are covered in slober. And within 3 minutes of meeting you, she will likely be on her back, begging not so subtly for belly rubs. After belly rubs, this girls favorite thing in the world is going for walks. She loves to be outside and would be a fabulous BFF for an active famly. She is friendly with new people and does great in the car. Lucy wants to be with her people and loves to snuggle. But her foster mom says she’s not quite velcro – more like double sided tape. At night she happily sleeps in her dog bed on the floor, but don’t be suprrised if you wake up to Lucy giving you kisses once you start stirring in the morning. And when you come home, Lucy will give you the best welcome – waiting at the door with her tail wagging a mile a minute. Lucy is UTD on shots, heartworm negative, spayed, microchipped and had a dental. Her new family will need to drive to the Raleigh area to adopt her – no transports. We prefer homes located in NC, VA, SC, eastern TN, WV, northern VA and the DC area. To get the process started of bringing home Lucy for the holidays, fill out an application at www.doxiebyproxy.org/application If you’re dreaming of a cozy Christmas filled with walks in the crisp air, couch snuggles by the tree, and a loyal little shadow to share it all with, Lucy may be the perfect gift waiting to be unwrapped. This sweet girl is ready to start her next chapter and make your holidays — and every season after — a little warmer, brighter, and full of love ##2596191##

Story
Rosie came to us from a rural county shelter. She was surrendered to them after being found in a Walmart parking lot. She is approximately 1 year old, already spayed, dachshund mix. Rosie weighs about 24 lbs and is up to date on all vaccines. Rosie's ideal household would be one with lots of love and attention. Rosie loves to use her nose to sniff around outside and is housebroken. She is content cuddling next to you on the couch or going for an afternoon stroll. Rosie's current foster reports that she is house trained and will go to the door when she needs to relieve herself. The foster home that Rosie is currently in has both dogs and cats. Rosie can be timid when meeting new people and new animals. She warms up quickly with pets and treats.

Story
Meet Missy! Missy is an adorable young Dachshund–Poodle mix with a playful spirit and a big heart. She loves to romp around and enjoys the company of other dogs. While she gets along well with canine friends, she can be a bit possessive of her toys and food around other pets—but never with people. She’s a sweetheart through and through.   Missy is potty trained as long as she’s taken out on a regular schedule. With her loving personality and cheerful energy, she’ll make a wonderful companion for someone looking for a loyal furry friend. ##2588347##
