Story
Winnie is a very loving dog. She loves to cuddle and lay right next you. She is very low maintenance and loves people. She has never shown signs of aggression to people. I have had her since she was a puppy. Winnie would do best in a home with just her and no cats. I think she feels threatened by other dogs and is fearful. Unfortunately I do not have the time or finances to train her for leash manners when it comes to passing other dogs on walks. I have another dog and they get along fine but I find it increasingly difficult to take them on a walk together when Winnie gets anxious. She would probably flourish somewhere with land or a fenced in yard that she could have her space in. Please consider my little Winnie girl. I just want her to be somewhere that she doesn’t feel threatened or anxious! Please contact with any questions.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Frederick is our sweet little old man. He was found as a stray and landed in a shelter. We rescued him soon after. He was a shelter favorite and needed a dental asap. He also had some skin issues but now his skin has cleared up and he is flea free. He immediately blended in with his foster family of dogs and new humans. He loves to play with his ball and sunbathe on the deck. He is definitely a lap dog but he does love his special chair. Good with all dogs and cats, neutered and heartworm negative. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. It is perplexing that nobody has expressed interest in me, considering my charming demeanor. My ears alone merit some attention. Given my compact size of 11 pounds, ideal for travel, it is surprising that this has not piqued anyone's interest? I enjoy going for walks and cuddling in laps. I am potty-trained and bark infrequently. I am fully vetted and microchipped. I require a home with a fenced yard due to my exploratory nature and curiosity, although frequent walkers may find this unnecessary. To apply for me visit our website at STFFAR.org or STFFAR.com and ask for Buddy  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 31, 2025, 6:18 pm

Story
Barley5 years old10 poundsFostered in Raleigh areaAdoption Fee is $350Short list: Snuggly, Sweet, needs home with no male dogs, Needs single family home, working on housetraining, Needs someone home more than not, Chicken allergy, good with kids 5 and upBarley is sweet, snuggly and wants to be where you are at all times. With Barley in your life, you will never be lonely or cold again. And yes, he will follow you to the bathroom, He will somehow worm his way between your body and side of the couch. Once he’s in his favorite place next to you, he won’t move an inch for hours. Because this velcro boy wants to be with his people as much as possible, we are looking for a family whose home more than not. He’s not a huge fan of the crate, but has made significant progress while in foster home. He settles down after a bit. And because he will share his opinions about you leaving loudly at first, he needs a single family home – no apartments or condos. Because he was recently neutered, he’s still working on housetraining, but has made a lot of progress in foster care. But his new family should expect accidents and be willing to continue working with him.Barley has a super playful side, often a puppy like energy. His foster mom says that he’s like a rocket when he gets a bolt of energy. It's hilarious to watch his version of the zoomies, which is silly and energetic at the same time. When he’s happy, which is pretty much all of the time he’s with his people, he has the best butt waggle we’ve seen in a while. And if he loves to play with toys – not so much when you take them away. But we think he may have the world record for killing stuff squeaky toys – and in a dachshund rescue that’s a pretty big feat.Barley can be a bit skittish and timid at first with new people as well as loud noises. He warms up after a bit, but a family who likes to walk will help his anxiety – a tired Barley means less nervous energy. But don’t expect him to walk when it’s cold or raining – he’s not a fan. Barley has successfully lived with female dogs in the past, but has gotten in skirmishes with other male dogs. He was intact at the time, but just to be safe, we are looking to adopt him to a home with no other male dogs – he would do great with only female dogs or as an only dog.Barley has a chicken allergy and does great on his current food and treats. Because it took his past owners a bit to figure out the allergy he has no hair on his ears, which will likely not grow back. But we think he looks adorable just how he is.Barley is UTD on shots, neutered, had a dental cleaning, HW negative and microchipped. His new family will need to drive to Raleigh to adopt - no transports. We prefer to adopt to families in NC, VA, SC, DC area, WV, eastern TN and northern GA. To get the process started of adopting, fill out an application at www.doxiebyproxy.org/applicationIf you’re looking for a loyal little shadow who will fill your days with love, laughter, and endless snuggles, Barley is your boy. He’s ready to find his forever person—and once he does, he’ll never let them feel alone again. ##2552774##
