Harley (female) 7 years 13 lbs Located in Raleigh area AKA: Harley Quinn, Lil Miss Priss (or Piss ), Missus, Sis/Sister, Miss Chevious Short list: Must be an only dog, working on housetraining, leash trained, crate trained, no cats, no kids under 10, eats prescription food for past GI issues Harley is a 13-pound diva with a big personality and even bigger feelings. She follows commands beautifully… but always makes sure to add her own commentary at the end. Yes, in true dachshund style, she's professional barker so no apartments or condos for this gal. Harley is a little anxious at times but endlessly gentle and loving. A gentle soul with a flair for the dramatic, Harley absolutely lives for affection (her fur is impossibly soft and she knows it). She’s a certified Velcro dog and an undisputed lovebug —if you sit down, expect company. If you lie down, expect to lose half the bed. Minimum. Harley is deeply devoted to her person and can be protective of her people from other dogs. We are looking for a home where she is the only dog. That said, she is not dog-reactive and does just fine seeing other dogs on walks or at the vet—she simply prefers to be the sole recipient of your attention. She is also not a fan of cats, so she needs a cat free home. She is also working on house training and will dramatically flop onto her belly if she thinks she’s in trouble (a consummate actress). Her new family should expect accidents and be prepared to continue working on housetraining. Harley eats well and has a history of GI issues, which are well managed with prescription food that keeps her feeling her best. Harley also had bladder stones in her past and had surgery so her new family will need to keep an eye out for urinary issues in the future. She is spayed, UTD on shots, heartworm negative, had bloodwork, had a dental, and microchipped. Harley is fostered in the Raleigh area and her new family must drive to her foster home to adopt - no transports. We prefer to adopt to families in VA, SC, NC, DC area, eastern TN, northern GA and WV. Found wandering in eastern NC, this special double dapple boy hasn’t let his rough start—or his disabilities—dim his joy for life. Because he’s a double dapple, Fritz has limited vision and hearing, which just means he experiences the world a little differently… and bonds very deeply with his people. He doesn’t just follow you — he super-glues himself to you. If he can’t find you, he’ll bark to let you know (which is why apartments and condos won’t work). Once reunited, he’ll immediately melt into your lap and fall asleep. Cold nights? Loneliness? Not in 2026.Fritz sleeps through the night, loves the big bed, and is an A+ snuggle partner who never steals the covers. Despite his vision challenges, Fritz enjoys walks, plays with other dogs, and has even discovered toys. However, Fritz can resource guard, especially over his person. He will need to be an only dog or with a family who can manage the resource guarding. He’ll need a stair-free home (or one where stairs can be blocked off and he can be carried), and a laid-back dog pack that’s welcoming and gentle. H Potty training is a work in progress — he does well on a schedule and uses both outside time and pee pads. Pro tip: if Fritz barks “out of nowhere,” he’s probably politely asking to go potty. Fritz is neutered and has had a dental cleaning. He’s UTD, microchipped, and had bloodwork. Because he is heartworm positive, we have started him on the slowkill treatment for heartworms and the rescue will pay for it until he tests negative. Fritz is looking for a homebody or work-from-home family who wants a loyal companion, understands his special needs, and is ready to start the New Year with a dog who will love them with his whole heart. Tanner Chiweenie9 years (ish)12 pounds Fostered in Raleigh area Tanner is a 9-year-old male Chiweenie with a heart of gold and a serious love for laps. Found as a stray, he’s clearly decided that the best place to be is right next to his people—preferably touching at all times. Everyone who meets this little dude instantly falls in love with his sweet personality. He is happy all the time, but the absolute happiest when with his people. This affectionate boy loves being petted and will happily soak up all the attention you can offer. He enjoys daily walks, is great on a leash, and makes an excellent companion for both gentle adventures and cozy couch days. Tanner would be fine with a working family and is content relaxing while his people are away, as long as he gets his cuddle time when they’re home. Tanner would do best in a quiet home and is not a good fit for families with children under 8, as he prefers calm surroundings . He is not suited for apartment living due to his security guard tendancies, especially Amazon drivers. He would be perfectly happy as an only dog, but can also live with the right calm, lower-energy canine companion. We have not tested him with cats, but am happy to cat test. Tanner is crate trained and housetrained - he will even ask to go outside. And if there is an open lap in the house, this boy plops himself right into it. Dog-wise, Tanner does well with other small and medium dogs who are calm or lower energy. He prefers a relaxed crowd and isn’t a fan of high-energy dogs who don’t respect his chill vibe. Tanner is neutered, UTD, heartworm negative and microchipped. Tanner has had an extensive dental and has no teeth left, but don’t let that fool you—it doesn’t slow him down one bit. He eats well and continues to enjoy life to the fullest. He also has a grade 3 heart murmur and has had an echocardiogram, which showed that he does not currently need medication—just routine monitoring. And yes, his ears are unique - he had vasculitis in the past on his ears, but it is not active and just needs to be monitored. Tanner is fostered in Raleigh, NC and his new family will need to drive to adopt him, no transports. We prefer families in NC, VA, SC, eastern TN, northern GA, WV and DC area. We quickly learned that this boy was suffering from a horrible ear infection that was very painful, and likely causing himHis favorite hobby? Expert-level blanket burrowing. Milo can disappear so completely under a cozy throw that you’ll forget he’s there — until dinner time, of course. He’ll happily greet you at the door when you come home (he always knows), then it’s right back to his bed to tunnel in and resume his beauty sleep until the next important event… like dinner.Milo does great with other calm dogs and is currently living with four other senior dachshunds. He gets along good with cats as well. He values his independence and isn’t a big fan of being scooped up from the front or having his front legs grabbed. But if you approach him gently and start with a solid butt rub, you’ll quickly win him over.He allows short cuddle sessions but prefers to keep things on his terms — a distinguished gentleman with boundaries. Because he can be grumpy is approached too quicky when he doesn't know you are there, we are looking for a calm home without kids under 12.Unless he thinks you are holding out food on him, Milo is a very easy houseguest. He spends most of his time happily sleeping in his blankets. While his vision and hearing aren’t what they used to be, he can still detect loud voices and see some shadows. And he absolutely knows when someone walks through that door — if one human is home and the other arrives, Milo will get up to greet the newcomer without fail. Milo rides well in the car without issues.He’s crate trained and does a great job letting you know when he needs to go out by walking to the front or back door. Just don’t keep him waiting too long — otherwise, one of the rugs near the door might become his backup plan.Milo occasionally plays with his very favorite toy (Lambchop) and takes his role as Kitchen Assistant very seriously. Cooking? He’s there. Crumbs on the floor? Handled. Meal service running behind schedule? You will hear about it. He’s adorably vocal when it comes to food and makes sure everyone knows dinner should always be on time.
