Story
Herk is a 6-year-old purebred dachshund (born October 29, 2019) who weighs about 15 pounds. He is neutered, calm, affectionate, and bonds closely with his people. We are rehoming Herk because our youngest son's severe dog allergies have progressed despite every mitigation effort. The dogs now spend too much time confined and deserve a home where they can roam freely and receive the affection they're used to. Herk has had two surgeries with full recoveries from both. In July 2020, a congenital liver shunt was corrected. In January 2025, he had back surgery for IVDD. He requires standard dachshund back precautions: no jumping, limited stairs, no rough play. Herk lives with Crow, a small dog he is bonded with; they must be adopted together. He eats The Farmer's Dog (turkey, beef, pork) twice daily with pumpkin; chicken is avoided. Complete veterinary records available. We seek a calm home familiar with dachshunds who will continue his care routine.
