Meet Highway Steve! This cute boy was found running on a main road for several days, refusing to let people rescue him. Finally he was hungry enough and had enough of living in the rain that he let someone snatch him up. When Steve made it to Adopt A Pit Rescue, his foster momma jumped into action, and got all his matted, wet, dirty and filth covered hair off him. And under all that was the most precious little boy! Steve is incredibly loyal, he is playful, great with other dogs, cats, kids and loves to be outside doing yard work. He currently lives on a farm where he follows his foster family everywhere. Never letting them out of his sight. He enjoys golf carts escorts on his bed and car rides. Steve is crate trained and is working really hard at potty training. We believe that Steve was an outside dog the entire first part of his life. But he is adjusting well and loves to lay in his people laps or snuggle under a nest of blankets. Steve is believed to be a Dachshund mix and 1-2 years old. He will make a very loving companion for any family! All of our dogs are spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, microchipped and if over 6 months of age, heartworm tested and on heartworm preventative in their foster home. We require an approved application to meet any of our dogs. We do not have a shelter location and will not arrange a meeting without an approved application. We strive to make sure the bios provided for our dogs are complete and accurate; we do understand that mistakes happen, however, so if you absolutely cannot find the answer to your question in the dog's bio, you can contact us for more information. We require a home visit for each dog we adopt out, so we adopt within a 2 hour radius of Dayton, OH. If you are outside of this radius, we encourage you to contact your local rescue or shelter. I’m a Dachshund/Chi mix with a big personality packed into a little body. My previous owner had too many dogs for the city limit, so me and some of my buddies had to find new homes. The good news? I’m ready to make someone VERY lucky! When I first arrived I was infested with fleas, and also had a injury to my face. Suspected from a dog bite, but I've got amazing people and vet staff taking care of me with antibiotics and xrays to make sure I'm all ready for my new family. I love people so much that I sometimes bounce up out of excitement when I meet you. I just can’t help it! I’m all about kisses, tail wags, and making new friends. I also LOVE other dogs and have a blast playing with them and sharing my toys. Toys are kind of my thing, honestly. I’m not sure about this “potty training” business yet, but I’m a smart little guy and eager to please. I’m already neutered, 4DX negative, current on vaccines, and protected with ProHeart 12 and Bravecto — so I’m all set and ready to go! My adoption fee is $400. Hi there… My name is Pietro 🐾 I’m a 3-year-old long-haired golden dachshund with a big heart and an even bigger love for people. After spending my early life as a breeding dog, I’m finally ready for a fresh start, a home where I can just be someone’s best friend. My current Mom and Dad rescued and fostered me so I could learn what love and comfort feel like again. I’m an easygoing little guy who loves other dogs and absolutely adores cuddling with my humans. If you sit down, I’ll probably curl up in your lap and nap beside you. I also have a playful side and get the zoomies outside, but I’m just as happy relaxing indoors watching TV with you. I’m potty trained, up to date on vaccines, recently had my teeth cleaned, and will be freshly groomed before going home. I do have some separation anxiety, so I’d thrive with someone willing to help me build confidence with patience and love like my current Mom and Dad.
