Story
Long story. But it's his story. Once upon a time, 3 dachshund mix puppies came to Legacy of Hope. They had been tossed off a bridge. One of them, later named Sully, was injured. His jaw was dislocated and he was in pain. He was treated, and he went on to be adopted into a loving family. For 4 years he lived the dream. A family, home. Friends. Then he jumped off the bed and injured his back. Now named Mike, he was diagnosed with IVDD. Intervertebral Disc Disease. IVDD is when these discs deteriorate (calcify/harden), wherein they become susceptible to bulging or bursting - especially with hard impacts (jumping off a couch, steps, rough play, etc). The cost of surgery is exorbitant, and the time frame for it is minimal. With no guarantee of success. Mike's family did all they could to avoid returning him. They love him. He is family. But the home ,yard and work schedule made it impossible . Mike is in his original foster home, Tammy is taking great care of him. Dr. Martin has been doing acupuncture on him a few times a week. He has his chair and his drag bag. And he is available for adoption. Bear in mind that he is not a novelty, probably not for a first time handicapped pet owner. He needs a home with people who will take care of all his needs, medical or otherwise. He is a loving boy, good with kids and dogs Legacy of Hope Dog Rescue

Not good with cats,
Story
Skye is a 5-6 year old spayed female dachshund mix. She looks mostly dachshund. She weighs around 12-15lbs. She is heartworm negative, vaccinated, microchipped and has recently received a dental. Skye is a very loving and snuggly girl who wants nothing more than to cuddle on the couch and chase off possible intruders! She is always on alert for danger and will let you know if she hears ruckus going on outside. Skye is a typical dachshund who does will when let out often but will have accidents when left too long. She does not really like a crate but will stay in one if needed. She is only 12lbs but she is the boss of her foster home and keeps the other dogs in line! She does love to play fetch and loves toys. She has done well with a 5 year old child but we prefer a home with older children due to her long back and small size. Skye doesnt do well with cats. She will need a fenced yard to keep her safe. Her adoption fee is $150.00 If interested please fill out the online application below https://form.jotform.com/200005720739042

Story
Ody & Penny: A Basset Package Deal Two hounds, one application. Ody and Penny are bonded littermates- a brother and sister who came as a set and intend to stay that way. They're around 14 months old, low to the ground, and built like the Basset blueprint- long ears, big paws, the works. At roughly 60 and 50 pounds respectively, they are a lot of dog without being a lot of height, which is a very specific and HIGHLY rated combination. Personality wise, they split the work. Penny is the greeter- she loves everyone, has never met a stranger, and would like to be cuddled immediately and continuously. Ody is more of a chill guy. He's a little standoffish with new people at first, takes a sec to size things up, and then decides you're acceptable. Having his outgoing sister around helps him feel brave, which is part of why they make such a good pair. Both are house trained, crate trained, good with young kids (ages 3 and 5), do great with other dogs, and reportedly have no beef with cats. Ody knows exactly one command, "spin," which he will perform with enthusiasm in exchange for food. They're dreaming of a home with some room to snuffle around, people who are into couch time, and someone who understands that adopting one means adopting two.

Story
Meet Finnagen. He, Ellie Bells, and Watson are a trio of basset hounds who came to us under the saddest of circumstances- Their owner passed away with no next of kin to take them in, and after two months with a kind neighbor who made sure they were cared for, they're ready for the next chapter. Ellie and Watson are 8 years old and they had a son together- Finnagen. He is now 5, and all 3 can actually come as a package deal- and honestly, that's kind of the best part. You don't have to wonder if your new dog will get along with your other dog. You could just get three hounds who already love each other and come as a set! They're friendly and curious with strangers, though they'll absolutely announce your arrival with a howl or two- they are basset hounds, after all. They've been around a one year old without any issues, and they're curious rather than aggressive with cats. They're not highly socialized and may need some time to warm up to new dogs, but there's no aggression- just a little uncertainty that patience should sort out. These three have already been through a loss. They deserve someone who has the space and the heart to take them in. If that's you, we'd really love to talk.
