Story
Hi, I’m Chiquita — a tiny brindle lady with a big heart, scruffy wire-haired charm, and years of experience perfecting the art of cuddling. I’m a 16-year-old Dachshund/Chihuahua mix weighing in at just 7 pounds, which makes me the perfect size for lap warming, blanket burrowing, and quietly following you around the house. I’m an indoor girl with free run of the house, and I can sleep in a dog bed in the main bedroom or - my preference - is to sleep with my human. Truthfully, my favorite thing is burrowing under blankets — especially in bed if you’ll allow it. I love cozy naps, soft covers, gentle walks, and snuggling close. Because I’m older, I need a few extra potty breaks throughout the day. I can do stairs surprisingly well, and while getting in and out of cars on my own is difficult, I still get around nicely for an older gal. I recently had a dental cleaning so that is all taken care of!! I’m friendly with cats and mostly keep to myself around other dogs. I can be a little anxious or aloof at first, but I’m not aggressive at all. My hearing isn’t what it used to be, but I still know my name, respond to loud sounds, and absolutely understand the word “TREAT.” Some things never change. The ideal home for me would be calm, patient, and loving — somewhere I can enjoy my routines, take little walks, curl up under blankets, and spend my retirement years feeling safe and cared for. I don’t need much. Just kindness, comfort, and someone who understands that senior dogs still have so much love left to give.

Story
Hi! I’m Wally, a 7-year-old dachshund mix, about 20 pounds, and the slightly more charming half of this bonded pair (don’t tell Woody I said that). I come with a built-in best friend—Woody—and we’re looking for a home where we can stay together. He’s been my buddy forever, and life just wouldn’t be the same without him.I’m the kind of dog who loves to be near my people. Lap? Yes please. Couch? Even better if my bed is on it so I can supervise everything. I’m affectionate, snuggly, and if you ask nicely… I might even give you my signature smile (that is me smiling in my profile picture!).Woody and I love to play outside, especially racing around the yard together in our figure-eight zoomies. We also enjoy walks—walking nicely on leash is kind of my thing—and we’re both great with other dogs. We’ve had visitors and always get along just fine.I’m house trained, comfortable using a dog door, and I settle in nicely at home. Like Woody, I’ll bark when something catches my attention (doorbells are very suspicious), but I warm up quickly and am happy to make new friends once I know everything’s okay.Car rides are no problem for me, especially if I get a little help to relax. Mostly, I’m just happy to be wherever you are.I do need a home without children. Kids make both of us nervous, and we’d really thrive in a quieter, adult home where we can feel safe and just be ourselves.I’m sweet, food motivated, a little independent at times, but always ready for a cuddle. As long as I’ve got Woody and a cozy spot next to you, I’ve got everything I need.

Story
Hi there, I’m Woody—the older, wiser half of this dynamic duo. I’m a 9-year-old dachshund mix with a little grey on my face (I prefer “distinguished”), about 20 pounds, and I come with one very important feature… my best friend, Wally. Wherever I go, he goes too. We’ve always been together, and that’s exactly how we plan to keep it.I’m a laid-back guy who loves the simple things—soft beds, cozy laps, and a good nap (you might hear me snoring… I take my sleep seriously). During the day, Wally and I split our time between inside and outside using our dog door, and when we’re out in the yard, you’ll usually find us chasing each other in our famous figure-eight pattern. It’s kind of our thing.I’m house trained, leash trained, and I do just fine around other dogs. On walks, I can get a little enthusiastic and like to pull—I just get excited to explore! Car rides are okay too, especially with a little help to relax. At home, I’ll let you know if something’s happening—doorbell, squirrel, strange noise—you name it. I’ve got opinions! But give me a few minutes and I’ll be right back to being your sweet, snuggly sidekick. I’m affectionate, adventurous, and very food motivated (treats go a long way with me).I love people… but I do best in an adult-only home. Kids make me nervous, and I’d really prefer a calm, predictable environment where I can feel safe and relaxed. At the end of the day, I’m happiest curled up on your lap or tucked into my bed on the couch where I can keep an eye on everything. As long as I’ve got Wally by my side and a human to love, I’m a pretty happy guy.

Story
Hi there, my name is Cody, and I’m a 12-year-old Dachshund/Chihuahua mix weighing about 13 pounds. I may be a senior gentleman, but I’ve still got plenty of personality and a lot of love to give the right person. I spend most of my day relaxing inside the house where I can wander around freely and keep an eye on things. I sleep on my own cozy bed in my human’s bedroom. I’m house trained, leash trained, and I walk nicely on a loose leash—though I might bark a little when I see new people or dogs. Once I get to know someone, I warm up just fine. I just prefer to take introductions at my own pace. My favorite thing in the whole world is going for walks. I get excited to explore and sniff around the neighborhood. After a good walk, I’m happy to come home, nap, and enjoy a calm, peaceful day. I also enjoy spending time near my person—I’m a loyal little companion. I’m friendly or politely aloof with other dogs, but I do enjoy chasing cats, so a cat-free home would probably be best. My perfect home would be quiet, calm, and child-free, with someone who enjoys daily walks and doesn’t mind a loyal little shadow nearby. If you’re looking for a sweet senior who appreciates the simple things—walks, naps, and companionship—I might just be your guy.
