She was scared when she first came into rescue, but with kind words and time, she relaxed and got comfortable in her new surroundings. She loves playing with the other younger dogs we have here because she is a young dog herself. We try not to crate her too much because she has done fine out with several of the other dogs in our care or with our dogs. Understand she will be scared and shy at first but just go slow with her and she will come around. Our must-haves for pretty Cara include: A fenced yard Another young, small dog for her to play with and pal around with Someone who can be home more often than not or works from home Someone active enough to take her for walks and car rides No apartments, high-rises, or condos in case she barks at noises If you can fill these must-haves and want to add a beautiful little girl to your home, then Cara is the one for you. Please go to our website and complete our online adoption application. ============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten. If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed on the bio form. They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal. There will be an additional $60 fee added for a required Health Certificate if traveling out of the state in which they are being fostered. We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures. To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page. Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3. Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers who will help your 'new friend' get up and down the East Coast or Midwest. We just can't get them from one coast to the other.
