Story
Hi...My Name is Dan and I will be 6 Months old on April 6th 2024, My Birthday is 10/06/2023.I weigh 12-13Lbs. I am Dachshund/JackRussell/Feist. My Previous Owners took Pretty Good Care of Me and made sure I stayed warm. I was born from theirs daughters dog and My Grandma took me and my Sister until they could find a better place for us. Unfortunately my Sister got hit by a car before I was introduced to my Foster Mama.Because I have lived outdoors up until I went to my Foster Mamas house I don't understand the whole Potty training thing and it confuses me a little. I am trying to learn, but it's hard. I just need some patience. I am a Very Loving Boy who just want all your Love and to play. I am a typical 6 Month Old Male Dachshund Puppy and when I get Excited to be picked up or loved on I will Pee a little. My Foster Mama says to me that it's normal because I seem to pay more attention to my parts when it does happen, like I am Embarrassed. While I Absolutely Adore Kids I need to be watched with younger kids because I am Mouthy. Not in a Biting Mean way and I don't put pressure down, but I don't yet understand what my teeth can do. My Foster Mama tried a Play date with another small male puppy and he was just too much in my face and I didn't like it at all so I snapped at him and scared him. I didn't mean to but he invaded my personal space.my Foster Mama then tried introducing me to her Giant Dog Lettie who is like 10 of me in one and she was so sweet and gentle that I was able be comforted.  My Foster Mama thinks I do better with Calmer Female dogs and if Calm then it shouldn't matter the size.I Love Love Love to Play Fetch and will bring the ball back to you. I Love Squeaky Toys. I used to get a lot of table scraps at my previous owners and now my Foster Mama says that I can't have that anymore because its not healthy. I am Protesting Eating my Kibble but when I get HungryI cave. My Foster Mama Waits me out and doesn't give into my requests. She has started training me to walk on a leash, but I am taking a bit to understand how that works.I Do Chase Cats and want to play in a not so nice way and that makes My Foster Mama Mad so I am trying to learn that too, but its hard.I just need someone with the patience to learn with me. Please take a Chance on me...I Promise I am a Lover Boy   Available dogs are met by appointment only and pre-approved adopters ONLY.Our dogs are currently in a foster homes which can answer your questions better than anyone else. We promise our fosters that we will qualify all potential adopters before we ask them to communicate with potential adopters. The application is the first step. Rev (name he came with) and he's 2 years old Thanksgiving day. I got him from someone who was going to take them to the shelter. The original owner was giving them away free to whoever would take them to keep them out of the shelter. He's a sweet dog that likes affection...to be held. He's not 100% housebroken. I've a doggy door which he has learned and does go out to potty some. He won't potty in the kennel. He likes balls and car rides and to be held.  info provided by ownerIf you can foster or adopt please contactRussellrescuetn@gmail.comAvailable dogs are met by appointment only and pre-approved adopters ONLY.Our dogs are currently in a foster homes which can answer your questions better than anyone else. We promise our fosters that we will qualify all potential adopters before we ask them to communicate with potential adopters. The application is the first step. Story
This little pretty chocolate dappled girl is called Mazie and goodness what a cracker jack she is.  Don’t for minute let those green eyes and chocolate marbled coat fool you to think she is gentle or easy.  She is the CEO of dogs and will run the show at your house if given the chance.  Mazie is 20 pounds and 9 months old.  She is a breed mix of Dachshund and Basset Hound we are told.  Her pics make her look big but she is a “tiny but mighty” little girl.  Mazie is not a fan of any other female dogs in her life or around her.  We don’t know where that came from but the dislike is there so we say…don’t ignore the warning.  She is great with big male dogs, not good with other small dogs or cats, but loves people deeply and wants to be around them.  She needs a fenced yard because she is a runner as most Dachshunds can be and she needs to be able to run and play and get her energy out daily.  Older children would be better for her and she is crate trained, 90% housebroken and she adores going for walks; a very good girl on a leash we can say.  She is beautiful but a “tad” bit complicated, which is why we have outlined the Likes and Dislikes of this girl to a TEE!  We want the right and perfect home and there are lots out there that can give her that.  Tiny but Mighty little Mazie is ready for a home NOW!  Please email us at Critter Cavalry Rescue : ccrtennessee@gmail.com   Tell us where you live when you email asking for information and an application. PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.April 29, 2024, 11:29 am

Story
My name is Sweet Pea and I am truly a sweet little pea!   My story began about 5-6 years ago when I came to live with a family who had way too many dogs.  They could not afford to spay and neuter and so a lot of us had puppies over and over.  Now I am with Critter Cavalry Rescue  and they promised me a better family life ahead.  I am a Dachshund/Terrier mix and I weigh 22 lbs and could probably walk a few pounds off this Spring and Summer with an active and fun person that would adopt me.  I was terrified beyond words when I first moved from my overcrowded home to this nice new foster house.  But soon I have realized I am safe and well fed and that these people are very stable and will get me to the vet when I need to go.  I am housebroken, ride just fine in a car and I am going to love to sit on your lap and make you feel loved and cherished by ME!  I do not like to walk on a leash.  I can learn if you are patient to teach me but I think I initially need to go to a home with a fenced yard and then learn how to walk nicely there in the backyard. It is not biggie but right now it kind of isn’t a fav thing to do.  Other than the leash, I am pretty perfect!  I am healthy and I love to give kisses and adoring looks to my fav humans.  If you want to invite me to come live with you please email ccrtennessee@gmail.com   I am ready to pack my bags! PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.April 29, 2024, 11:29 am

What they need is love, patience, and time to trust you. Please, won't you give them that chance?  Both Bell and Obie came to the rescue from severely abusive situations. This is hard to imagine, given Bell’s sweet nature and incomprehensible, given Obie’s blindness. Together, after reaching rescue, they have found comfort in one another. When Obie arrived, he had no clue how to play. Bell found this unacceptable and has taught her friend to trust, play, and enjoy life once again. They now run through the house or play in the yard together. It took a while as they, both Bell and Obie, had to wrestle with their internal demons, but through the process, they bonded, and separating them is not an option for us. They have been in rescue for months waiting for the right home to come along, but we know there is that perfect home for these two where they can be together. Bell will need time to trust her new owners, and Obie will need time to get familiar with the layout of the home and yard. However, this little team will do it. They sleep in the primary bedroom at night together in a doggie bed, never asking to come up on the big bed. When we must leave, they go into their own crates, which are located side by side. We know this adoption will take a special person with a big heart, but they are a true “rescue story.” Are you up to this incredibly rewarding challenge? Our must-haves for this dynamic duo include: A fenced yard Someone who is home a lot or works from home A truly patient person or family (no small children) Not a first-time owner; must be an experienced dachshund owner No apartments, condos, duplexes, or high-rises   ============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Lady was dumped at a shelter in East Tennessee when her owner went into a nursing home, and no one in the family would take her. She is fine with other small dogs but prefers to be an only dog, but you must be a strong pack leader, as she was allowed to run the house when she was with her old owner. Lady does take a bit to warm up to strangers. She was scared to death when she came to us, but after she had time to decompress, she became a happy, lovely girl. Lady loves sleeping in her fluffy, calming bed but would prefer to be with you in your bed. She also loves to share the recliner for a nap or to catch the latest movie. This little lady will even play a bit if you have another small dog, but mostly, she wants to keep your lap warm. But first, you must give her time to learn that you are okay and she is safe. Lady doesn’t like the rain or snow, so a puppy pad would be best for those days when she cannot go outside. Our must-haves for sweet Lady include: A fenced yard Someone who is home most of the time Another adult, small dog for her to pal around with No apartments or high-rises, as she will bark at strange noises If you think you want to give this sweet, beautiful girl her forever home, please complete our online adoption application. Unfortunately, he came from a home where he was not properly socialized and learned to be very timid and fearful. We have been working with him, teaching him that not all humans are bad, and he is making great progress. We have been taking him out and about to experience new people, dogs, and places. He is gaining confidence and becoming a bit less fearful. However, Raven has a very HIGH flight response. On a walk, if he senses something that he does not like, he will do everything in his power to go home including some rather impressive aerial acrobatics, followed up with backing out of his harness. So, attention to him on a walk is mandatory. He just wants to run. He has many admirers and loves to be held but will not approach a stranger and will bark at strangers when they enter his house.  Despite his fears, Raven is learning to be loved by humans, and he is soaking it up. He is a sweetheart and loves to cuddle on the couch with you and sleep in the Big Bed as long as there are stairs or a ramp to get on and off to prevent him from jumping if startled and hurting himself. He may be okay to be crated at night, or just have a dog bed in the room. He uses the doggy door, but in this Wisconsin cold, he may choose to occasionally go potty on a puppy pad. PLAY!?!… Raven LOVES to play with his fur siblings and pack run with other SMALL dogs. Raven is an Energizer Bunny. While playing, he wears out one of his fur siblings and then starts with another. So, he MUST have an energetic, FULL-TIME playmate. We think a well-socialized playmate would also help Raven learn good behaviors. He is not aggressive whatsoever. He loves his toys but happily shares. His future humans must have the energy to match his puppy-like energy level. Raven is searching for that perfect furever home. A home that MUST include someone who will continue helping him become the confident, carefree pup he deserves to be. Raven will bond with HIS humans. He will bond first with one, then slowly with the other. So, patience with him is a MUST. If you are looking for a "couch potato" dog or a dog to take to the park and you don't have the patience or skills to deal with a reserved pup who does not willingly engage socially, please pass on Raven. His perfect home is waiting for him, and we are going to be VERY picky in assuring he finds it. Our must-haves for handsome Raven include: Someone who doesn’t work and is home a lot or works from home Someone with time and patience to help him learn to love, be loved, and have more confidence A calm home No children in or visiting the home who are under 10 years of age A fenced yard A doggie door would be a plus At least one young, small, playful, well-socialized dog for him to buddy with No apartments, condos, or high-rises ============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten. If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed on the bio form.  They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal. There will be an additional $60 fee added for a required Health Certificate if traveling out of the state in which they are being fostered. We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states.  If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures. To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page.  Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3. Click this link to apply: https://www.allamericandachshundrescue.org/apply, it will take you to the application form.
