Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Henry – Forever Foster Needed   Henry is a 13-year-old sweetheart who prefers to be the only dog in the home. He loves nothing more than following his human around and curling up beside them for TV time or bedtime snuggles. While he isn’t a fan of being picked up, Henry has no trouble hopping onto the couch or climbing the stairs to join you.   Once he feels settled, Henry will shower his person with kisses and cuddles. He’s easy to medicate, happily taking his morning and evening meds when hidden in cheese or treats.   Henry does best as an only dog, so he’s looking for a quiet home where he can soak up all the love and attention.   Medical Details: Henry has a bad back, arthritis, and muscle tremors. He is on Gabapentin and Methocarbamol (muscle relaxer). As a Forever Foster, all of Henry’s medical needs will be covered through our vet, Cornerstone Animal Hospital in Dickson.   Henry is an adorable boy who just wants a forever person to love him, and in return, he’ll give you a lifetime of loyalty and affection.   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.September 20, 2025, 5:28 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Age: 7 years Breed: Dachshund   Meet Waldo Waldo is a sweet, soulful 7-year-old Dachshund with the kind of personality that instantly makes you feel at home. He adores curling up under blankets, snoozing in a cozy dog bed (or yours!), and spending quality time relaxing in a recliner with his people. His gentle, affectionate nature makes him a wonderful companion. Waldo gets along well with dogs of all sizes and has a calm, loving demeanor. He’s truly a cuddle-bug who just wants to be close to his humans. Medically, Waldo has Degenerative Valve Disease (advanced) and is currently classified as Stage B2. He is stable and doing well on Vetmedin 1.25 mg, one tablet twice daily, which he takes without issue. His medication is very manageable and costs approximately $125 for 100 tablets through Chewy. Waldo recently had a dental cleaning with five problematic teeth removed and is feeling much better. A few things to note: Waldo can be a bit of an escape artist, so he’ll need to be supervised when outside. He is looking for a home with no children under the age of 10, where he can enjoy a calm, predictable environment. Waldo may have some medical needs, but he has so much love to give. If you’re looking for a devoted little companion who will happily snuggle beside you and warm your heart, Waldo may be your perfect match. &#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143 Medical Notes: Neutered Vaccinated Dewormed Microchipped Heartworm Negative ProHeart 12 Injection Senior Exam + Bloodwork (all levels within normal limits) - diagnosed with Degenerative Valve Disease (advanced)  of the heart, maintained on Vetmedin 1.25 mg - 1 tablet orally twice a day (costs $124.78 through Chewy.com for 100 tablets) Dental Cleaning with 5 problematic teeth being removed Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.January 4, 2026, 8:47 pm

He is still learning what it is like to be a pet. This is where you come in, patience is the key to Samson’s heart. We can tell he wants hugs and kisses but he is just not sure. Remember breeder dogs are not shown attention like other puppies that go into people’s homes so he must warm to the idea of being a pet but he still has a ways to go. Can you help him? After we have had him for a bit, we realize that he really does not need a fenced yard because he really does not care to be outside especially in the cold and rain. So, you would have to be committed to walking him on a leash. If you just let him out without a leash he would run off and we don’t want that phone call, ever! Samson is not a barker so he can be in an apartment or condo, ground floor. He says he would also prefer a warmer climate than here in Tennessee! Our must haves for Samson are: • Ground floor apartment or condo • Someone home more than not • Another adult small dog for him to hang with • Someone that is patient and has breeder dog experience If you meet these requirements then make Samson’s wish come to for a home for spring. Apply online on our website, Samson says he’s waiting for YOU. ============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten. If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed on the bio form. They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal. There will be an additional $60 fee added for a required Health Certificate if traveling out of the state in which they are being fostered. We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures. To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page. Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3. Click this link to apply: https://www.allamericandachshundrescue.org/apply, it will take you to the application form. Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers who will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or Midwest. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. Please look for dogs on your coast.

Story
We’ve learned a lot about Spot (aka Boone) over the Holidays.*To him, cats = big squirrels = hunt*Children = I like them, they do tend to spook me more than adults (loud or rushed movements), but that just means I retreat and have to warm back up.*Car rides are a breeze (up to 2.5 hrs tested), *IF* he’s buckled in rather than crated. We are still welcoming all tricks for separation anxiety, though we had a major success, we have not yet been able to fully replicate it. Truly seems to be about the only snag behaviorally. He’s polite, playful, no aggression to humans with lots of exposure, minds variable house rules well, and can be chill or active depending on the vibe of the day/person. **New Year, New Me — Spot’s 2025 Pupdate!** Hi friends! I’m **Spot**, (AKA Boone) ringing in the New Year with a tail wag and a fresh pupdate I settled into my new place *fast*—like, faster-than-you-can-open-a-treat-bag fast. My food giver works from home, which is perfect because I’m not a fan of alone time (not even a little). On the rare times he heads out, I’ve started a new anxiety medicine and it’s helping me feel much more at ease. New year, calmer vibes Here’s how I’m spending my days: Daily sniffari patrols of the neighborhood (especially *my* very important log) Competitive-level squeaky ball destruction Professional couch lounging, especially when it’s rainyBig milestone to celebrate: **zero indoor accidents**. Not once. A New Year miracle if there ever was one Social updates: I’ve been introduced to a couple of dogs and did well! We’ve learned that slow, on-leash walks are the key—and sometimes it takes two tries. With people, I’m a bit timid at first, but I warm up quickly and then I’m all about the attention.Quick stats for the record: Around **10 months old** **35 pounds** of New Year’s joyAll in all, life is feeling pretty great, and I’m excited to see what 2025 brings. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got a couch to guard and a squeaky ball that absolutely will not defeat itself. Love,**Spot** Apply online: https://www.russellrescuetn.com/adoption-applicationAlready approved? Email: Russellrescuetn@gmail.com Adoption fee: **$300** — includes vaccines, spay/neuter, heartworm test, microchip, ID collar, leash, and harness January 2, 2026, 12:35 am

He’s a bit shy at first with other dogs-think *“silent night”* vibes—but once he warms up, his personality shines brighter than Christmas lights He’s **house trained**, playful, and would do best with either being your one-and-only pup or with calm, one-on-one dog friendships while he builds confidence.
