He is still learning what it is like to be a pet. This is where you come in, patience is the key to Samson’s heart. We can tell he wants hugs and kisses but he is just not sure. Remember breeder dogs are not shown attention like other puppies that go into people’s homes so he must warm to the idea of being a pet but he still has a ways to go. Can you help him? After we have had him for a bit, we realize that he really does not need a fenced yard because he really does not care to be outside especially in the cold and rain. So, you would have to be committed to walking him on a leash. If you just let him out without a leash he would run off and we don’t want that phone call, ever! Samson is not a barker so he can be in an apartment or condo, ground floor. He says he would also prefer a warmer climate than here in Tennessee! Our must haves for Samson are: • Ground floor apartment or condo • Someone home more than not • Another adult small dog for him to hang with • Someone that is patient and has breeder dog experience If you meet these requirements then make Samson’s wish come to for a home for spring. Apply online on our website, Samson says he’s waiting for YOU. ============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten. If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed on the bio form. They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal. There will be an additional $60 fee added for a required Health Certificate if traveling out of the state in which they are being fostered. We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures. To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page. Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3. Click this link to apply: https://www.allamericandachshundrescue.org/apply, it will take you to the application form. Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers who will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or Midwest. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. Please look for dogs on your coast.

NO CATS, RODENTS or BIRDS Since arriving at her foster home this little girl has gained confidence and her personality has blossomed.  Upon going to a new home, she may be timid for a while until she feels comfortable. BIO:  Pip came from Georgia when a Good Samaritan took her from a neglectful situation but could not keep her. She is very sweet but shy and will need time to warm up. So, if you do not have the patience to give her that time, then she is not the dog for you. You will have to look for another. Dogs come into rescue not because they are perfect, and you adopt them because you want to make them whole, but some take longer than others. Could you be the one to do that for Pip? She really needs time to know she is safe and to relax, and she will give you love, but she wants it back, too. Do not disappoint her; give her what she needs for the rest of her life. Our must-haves for precious Pip include: A fenced yard Another young, small, and well-socialized dog in the home Someone who can be home most of the time or works from home Please no apartments, condos, or high-rises Please reach out if you are interested. We will let you know all about this sweet, gentle girl looking for love. ============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. He is well worth the effort. Our must-haves for adorable Buster include: A fenced yard A dachshund savvy adopter who is a leader Someone who is home more often than not or is retired Another small, adult or senior dog for him to hang with No apartments, high-rises, or condos.  He is a barker. Buster is most deserving of a loving home.  Could that be yours? BIO: After 9 years with his adoptive family, Buster came back to us because he didn't like the grandchildren visiting the home. The problem was that Buster thought he ran the house. He is leery of strangers due to a lack of socialization. With that being said, he’s a great dog and loves being with people and is fine with other dogs. Whoever adopts Buster must be the 'alpha' and let him know that he cannot run the show. When he understands that, he is a wonderful dog—happy and housebroken. He would do better with someone who is looking for a frosty face and is home most of the time. When you are home, he will follow you from room to room, but if you must leave, then he will bark. Are you willing to give him a chance at getting the last home of his life? Do not let his one behavior scare you off; it can be corrected, but you must be the alpha. ============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime.
