He is still learning what it is like to be a pet. This is where you come in, patience is the key to Samson’s heart. We can tell he wants hugs and kisses but he is just not sure. Remember breeder dogs are not shown attention like other puppies that go into people’s homes so he must warm to the idea of being a pet but he still has a ways to go. Can you help him? After we have had him for a bit, we realize that he really does not need a fenced yard because he really does not care to be outside especially in the cold and rain. So, you would have to be committed to walking him on a leash. If you just let him out without a leash he would run off and we don’t want that phone call, ever! Samson is not a barker so he can be in an apartment or condo, ground floor. He says he would also prefer a warmer climate than here in Tennessee! Our must haves for Samson are: • Ground floor apartment or condo • Someone home more than not • Another adult small dog for him to hang with • Someone that is patient and has breeder dog experience If you meet these requirements then make Samson’s wish come to for a home for spring. Apply online on our website, Samson says he’s waiting for YOU. ============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten. If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed on the bio form. They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal. There will be an additional $60 fee added for a required Health Certificate if traveling out of the state in which they are being fostered. We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures. To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page. Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3. Click this link to apply: https://www.allamericandachshundrescue.org/apply, it will take you to the application form. Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers who will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or Midwest. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. Please look for dogs on your coast.

Dogs are gonna bark!!  She was mostly kept outside, and we are so glad the Good Samaritan stepped in and asked if she could take little Boop and find her a good home. With all this being said, this little girl has to learn to trust and will need someone with a lot of patience and love to show her that she is safe and loved. That is where you come in.  Do you have the time to show her what love is like? Boop has opened up to us here in foster care.   It took her about 5 days to learn that we meant her no harm, and we were here to love her, feed her, and keep her warm. Luke came into rescue overweight.  He has lost some weight, but he may need to lose another pound or two after he is adopted. He really is a sweet, happy boy.  He loves to be outside and will do zoomies out in the yard in the morning.  We do know that he does not like going to the vet to get his nails trimmed and a muzzle must be used. We also know that he doesn’t care for strangers.  New people coming into the home would need to be made aware of this and not just walk in.   Therefore, we think a quieter home would be best for him, one with few visitors.  Taking Luke out for walks and to non-stressful environments, such as PetSmart, would be great for him. If you are looking for a standard, then here is your chance. Please help Luke find his last forever home. Giselle was very timid and frightened.  For the longest time she would not pull herself away from the wall she was leaning against.  However, soon she was coming to the front of her pen to get her daily treats.  Then it wasn't long before she wanted to be out with the other dogs but would not let us touch her.  Everything was a slow process of gaining her trust and she was not a happy girl.  But now her tail wags and she is happy to see us, get her food, and be out to run with the other fosters. We know this will tug at everyone’s heart strings but unless you are committed to helping her become the wonderful pet she can be, do not rush to apply.  Seeing her take her baby steps in becoming a normal pup is a blessing in itself. Our must have for this beautiful little lady are: A fenced in yard Another adult, small, well socialized dog for her to continue to learn from Someone that can be home more than not Someone with either unsocialized dog experience or someone that has lots of patience and a desire to help her No apartment, condos, or high rises She will stay with us until the right home comes along.  We know that loving home she deserves is out there.   ============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime.
