Story
September 8, 2025, 1:38 pm Amy has been with us at the shelter for a little over six months now. She is very scared and timid; however, she has been gradually warming up to us. She is in a kennel with another dog her size and does well with her. We would love to get her into a home that would allow her to take the time she needs to warm up, we hope that once out of the shelter, she will be able to open up and have a wonderful life.

He is still learning what it is like to be a pet. This is where you come in, patience is the key to Samson’s heart. We can tell he wants hugs and kisses but he is just not sure. Remember breeder dogs are not shown attention like other puppies that go into people’s homes so he must warm to the idea of being a pet but he still has a ways to go. Can you help him? After we have had him for a bit, we realize that he really does not need a fenced yard because he really does not care to be outside especially in the cold and rain. So, you would have to be committed to walking him on a leash. If you just let him out without a leash he would run off and we don’t want that phone call, ever! Samson is not a barker so he can be in an apartment or condo, ground floor. He says he would also prefer a warmer climate than here in Tennessee! Our must haves for Samson are: • Ground floor apartment or condo • Someone home more than not • Another adult small dog for him to hang with • Someone that is patient and has breeder dog experience If you meet these requirements then make Samson’s wish come to for a home for spring. Apply online on our website, Samson says he’s waiting for YOU. ============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten. If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed on the bio form. They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal. There will be an additional $60 fee added for a required Health Certificate if traveling out of the state in which they are being fostered. We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures. To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page. Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3. Click this link to apply: https://www.allamericandachshundrescue.org/apply, it will take you to the application form. Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers who will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or Midwest. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. Please look for dogs on your coast.

NO CATS, RODENTS or BIRDS Since arriving at her foster home this little girl has gained confidence and her personality has blossomed.  Upon going to a new home, she may be timid for a while until she feels comfortable. BIO:  Pip came from Georgia when a Good Samaritan took her from a neglectful situation but could not keep her. She is very sweet but shy and will need time to warm up. So, if you do not have the patience to give her that time, then she is not the dog for you. You will have to look for another. Dogs come into rescue not because they are perfect, and you adopt them because you want to make them whole, but some take longer than others. Could you be the one to do that for Pip? She really needs time to know she is safe and to relax, and she will give you love, but she wants it back, too. Do not disappoint her; give her what she needs for the rest of her life. Our must-haves for precious Pip include: A fenced yard Another young, small, and well-socialized dog in the home Someone who can be home most of the time or works from home Please no apartments, condos, or high-rises Please reach out if you are interested. We will let you know all about this sweet, gentle girl looking for love. ============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Chewy came from Ohio when her owner had to give her up because she was fighting with her female fur sibling, and the owner feared the outcome. Chewy was scared when she first came to us, but once she got to know us, she opened up and is now very friendly. She loves the male foster dog in the foster home and even plays with him. She really enjoys the fenced yard and given her young age and love of the outdoors, we want her to have it so she can play and run.  Chewy is frightened of large dogs so she can only go to a home with small dogs. Chewy loves lap time and will beg to get in your lap if you are sitting at your computer, watching TV, or just having quiet time. Because she is a couple of pounds overweight, we want someone who will commit to keeping her at her ideal weight, which we believe should be around 12 pounds. Our must-haves for beautiful Chewy include: A fenced yard Another small, young dog for her to play with.  No large dogs Someone who can be home more often than not No apartments, high-rises, or condos, or townhouses as she likes to bark when someone comes in the door If you meet our requirements and wish to adopt Chewy, please visit our website and complete our online adoption application. Britta loves to be cuddled and covered up and sleeping next to you. She is puppy pad trained but will need you to work with her on house breaking.  She barks when she knows it is time to eat and she hears the rest of the fosters in the foster home start to bark for dinner or breakfast. She has never been around a cat, so she does not even know what they are. She has never been around another young small dog so has not learned to play but does play with toys, or you, if you are willing to play with her. What Britta needs is someone that can spend the time and patience with her to show her the world. She is the sweetest little girl, but it is time she finds her own home.  She will be your heart. While we do not feel she needs a fenced in yard, it is necessary that she has you out there with her at all times. While she will not run, she will wander and that would get her in trouble so a leash would be BEST. We would like her to go to the states from TN or further south because she has not been out in the cold. Yes, she is cute but think about this if you don’t have the time then she would not be a good fit for your home. Our must haves for Britta are Someone home more than not Another young small dog for her to learn from Someone that will be patient with her and has the time to housebreak her Someone that will teach her leash walking If you have experience with blind dogs that is a plus. If you’d like more info on sweet Britta, you can email her foster mom.  ============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime.
