Tugger is a Boston Terrier/Dachshund mix. He came in to rescue as a small puppy. He is vaccinated, microchipped, and neutered. He was sick when he was signed over to us, but was hospitalized and overcame his sickness. Now? He is little dog perfection. Perfect health. He lays in my lap all the time. Great in a crate. Great with other dogs. Great with cats. Would be perfect dog for kids. Great dog to travel with. Light brindle coat, Boston terrier eyes, Dachshund body. Story
Nelson came to us from a hoarding case. There were 16 dogs in one house and the owner passed away. None of them had been socialized so we have been working with them for months. Nelson is coming along but still needs a lot of help getting socialized with people. He enjoys stiffing people but does not enjoy being picked up.

VACAY UPDATE (3/31/25):  Hey, guys! It’s your boy Ace! I just returned from a fantastic vacation. So much fun! Did some cart cruisin’, duck chasin’, and just chillin’ in the cabana. I enjoyed walking on the beach while flyin’ my “Adopt Me” flag to let everyone (especially the chicks) know I am available. I love the sun and spent a lot of time working on my tan. What a great time! Check out all my photos. But all was not fun and frivolity, I was responsible for driving the RV, of course.  Foster Mom had to keep me tethered to my seat while I was not driving. I was so excited to be on the road; I wanted to be all over the place.  If you are up for adventure, I am your man. I’ve still got things to learn so I can be your co-pilot or navigator, but I would love to give it my best shot just so I can be with you. As much as I like experiencing new places, what I want most is that one place to call home, my very own forever home. Could we do that? Love, Ace UPDATE:  Hi, Ace here! I wanted to give you a little update on how I am doing. I am getting to play every day with my Foster Sister and having so much fun! Every now and then she lets me know that she doesn't want to play, and I back off. When we take a break from playing, I get to snuggle with my Foster Siblings under a blanket, and I just love it. I don't stay long because something always distracts me, and I just have to check it out. As my Foster Mom says, I am nosy, or you could say a lot curious. I like it here but would really like to find my furever home. I want someone who will love me forever because I will love them forever! I really like to play, so I need a brother or sister who will play with me. And look at me... why wouldn't you want someone this handsome?! If you think we could spend the rest of our lives together, please complete an application. I am waiting for you! BIO:  Ace was returned by his original home to the breeder because he snapped at a small child. The breeder then asked AADR to help find Ace his perfect forever home. He loves to play, so he would need a home with another dog his size who also loves to play. He will sit in your lap until something else gets his attention. He loves being under a blanket with his foster siblings, so I’m sure he would like to snuggle with a new brother or sister. Mr. Ace is a very nosy boy, so he is constantly checking things out. He does not like loud noises such as a vacuum cleaner, hair dryer, paper shredder, etc. He will bark at them until he has barked them into submission, and they go silent. He is working on house training and now goes out the doggie door by himself but still has accidents. If you are an active adult with children over 10 and looking for an active and lovable dog, Ace may be the guy for you. Our must-haves for adorable Ace include: A fenced yard Another small to medium young dog for him to play with Someone who is home more often than not No condos, high-rises, or apartments due to possible barking If you want to know more about Ace, complete our online adoption application, and we’ll be happy to talk to you about this sweet boy.    ============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten. If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed on the bio form.  They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.  There will be an additional $60 fee added for a required Health Certificate if traveling out of the state in which they are being fostered.  We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states.  If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures. Can I help it if I was abandoned and not wanted by my last owner when she left the home that was graciously offered to her and me? But she did not want me after she left, WHY? I am housebroken to the max, sweet as can be, AND I patty-cake to beg you for something, including your attention, so WHY? I’m looking for that special someone who will give me a home until the end of my life, whenever that is, but I promise you I’ll give you tons of devotion, loyalty, and love. So, what are you waiting for? I need you, and I know you need me. What I need is: A fenced yard Someone who is home more often than not I would like another adult small dog to be friends with, but I can be an only dog if you are home with me all the time Most important I want your bed and you to sleep with, can i? No apartments or high-rises If you are looking for a companion, then the organization highly recommends Rebel as the dog you should adopt. He loves attention and will beg for it. He came in from east Tennessee and would love a home anywhere that will treat him better than he was treated when his owner walked out on him. He loves his foster mom and will follow her everywhere and is the happiest when she is sitting and watching TV so he can snuggle with her. If you are a single woman and looking for love then Cody is definitely your man.Cody is a retired breeder dog and he will need time to adjust to being a pet. It is very important that he goes to a home with another well-socialized small dog that he can learn from what it’s about to be a pet and not to be afraid of new things. If you are truly looking to “rescue” a pet, Cody is your guy. He will need patience, love, and an understanding that this will not happen overnight. It would be really great if someone with breeder dog experience would come forward to adopt him. Yes, it’ll take work and time, but the rewards are great when you see the first time he wags his tail at you, or comes running when you get home, or better yet, when he climbs in your lap. He is the true rescue story. So if you have what it takes, please apply, but if you just are not sure you want to take on a project like Cody, please pass on him. BUT if you do, you won’t regret your decision and will make his days so much brighter.
