He is timid from not being socialized but he has warmed up and is doing very well.  At first, Peanut was scared but has slowly come out of his shell.   We have male and female fosters in our home and he gets along with them all.  However, no cats or big dogs, please. He is also doing very well with his foster people (male and female). We are looking for someone who has the patience to help Peanut become the pet he was meant to be.  If you do, then you will have the best boy who is so cute and loving.  Our must haves for Peanut are: Fenced in yard Another small, young, well socialized dog to help him feel comfortable in your home Someone who can be home more than not No apartments, high rises, or condos Think about it. If you have the time and patience, then this is the boy for you.  He will repay it 100 times over in loyalty.   ============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten. If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed on the bio form.  They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.  There will be an additional $60 fee added for a required Health Certificate if traveling out of the state in which they are being fostered.  We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states.  If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures. He is still learning what it is like to be a pet. This is where you come in, patience is the key to Samson’s heart. We can tell he wants hugs and kisses but he is just not sure. Remember breeder dogs are not shown attention like other puppies that go into people’s homes so he must warm to the idea of being a pet but he still has a ways to go. Can you help him? After we have had him for a bit, we realize that he really does not need a fenced yard because he really does not care to be outside especially in the cold and rain. So, you would have to be committed to walking him on a leash. If you just let him out without a leash he would run off and we don’t want that phone call, ever! Samson is not a barker so he can be in an apartment or condo, ground floor. He says he would also prefer a warmer climate than here in Tennessee! Our must haves for Samson are: • Ground floor apartment or condo • Someone home more than not • Another adult small dog for him to hang with • Someone that is patient and has breeder dog experience If you meet these requirements then make Samson’s wish come to for a home for spring. Apply online on our website, Samson says he’s waiting for YOU. ============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Gracie is an older lady and just wants to find a home where she can spend the last of her golden years.  She is very friendly, loving, and the sweetest little girl.  She gets along great with her foster sisters.  Gracie does not like sharing her doggie bed and will growl if another dog tries to get in bed with her.  She loves to eat but unfortunately, she lost 17 teeth when she had her dental and is still on softened food. Gracie loves spending her days sleeping.  She would do great as an only dog and would love it if you were retired where you would be at home with her all day. Gracie loves cuddling on the couch with her person under her blanket. She would love to sleep in the big bed. Our must haves for sweet Gracie: A fenced yard since she loves walking around and smelling the ground. Someone who is at home all the time Apartment or Condo would be okay. ============= Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dogs Bark!! She was mostly kept outside and she’s only 10lbs, why, you ask, who knows, but we are so glad the Good Samaritan stepped in and asked if she could take her and find her a good home. With all this being said, this little girl has to learn to trust and it’s going to take someone with a lot of patience and love and more patience to show her that she is safe and loved. That is where you come in. Do you have the time to show her what love is like? She has opened up to us here in foster and it took her about 5 days to learn that we meant no harm and we were here to love her and feed her and keep her warm. Are you up to this challenge or have the experience with a fearful dog and want to add to your pack? Our must haves for her are: A fenced in yard is a must Another young small well socialized dog for her to learn from Someone that can be home more than not No apartments, high rises, or condos Once this little girl settles in and knows you, she will be the sweetest little girl because she will know that she has the best home. And as you can see, she does not know personal space once she gets comfortable in her surroundings.     ============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. She wants people who will cuddle and have another small dog to hang around and learn from. She doesn't really know how to play with other dogs at this point, but she sure loves her toys. Just like any puppy, she is new to everything. Being blind, she needs to be trained and shown the world through your eyes and her incredible, smelling nose and floppy ears. Training with noise, such as a clicker, and using voice commands, a harness, treat rewards and positive encourangment are known to have excellent outcomes to build confidence and bonding. She'll also need to work on potting training still because she's so young. We'd love for Britta to live in a state that has nice year-round weather so she can enjoy the wonders of nature. BIO:  Britta came from right here in Middle TN.  She was given up by the breeder because of her blindness and their inability to care for her.  At first, we were not sure if she was completely blind but after taking her to VOS it was determined that she is indeed blind.  One eye is smaller than the other.  She also has a “club foot” but that does not stop her from getting around. Britta loves to be cuddled and covered up and sleeping next to you. She is puppy pad trained but will need you to work with her on house breaking.  She barks when she knows it is time to eat and she hears the rest of the fosters in the foster home start to bark for dinner or breakfast. She has never been around a cat, so she does not even know what they are. She has never been around another young small dog so has not learned to play but does play with toys, or you, so please be willing to play with her. What Britta needs is someone that can spend the time and have patience with her to show her the world. She is the sweetest little girl, but it is time she finds her own home.  She will be your heart. While we do not feel she needs a fenced in yard, it is necessary that she has you out there with her at all times. While she will not run, she will wander and that would get her in trouble so a harness and leash would be BEST. We would like her to go to the states from TN or further south because she has not been out in the cold. Yes, she is cute but think about this if you don’t have the time then she would not be a good fit for your home. Our must haves for Britta are: Someone home more than not Another young small dog for her to learn from Someone who will be patient with her and has the time to housebreak her Someone who will teach her leash walking If you have experience with blind dogs that is a plus. If you’d like more info on sweet Britta, please feel welcome to email her foster mom.  ============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime.
