Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet David, a 5 year old Dachshund/Chihuahua mix who weighs in at about 10 lbs.  He is very smart with perfect house manners, and just a well behaved canine companion overall.  David is good around children (over the age of 6 due to his small size) and loves attention from anyone willing to give it.  He thinks that treats from a human’s hand are the best thing in the world!  David has a brother named Goliath that looks just like him, but with Dachshund floppy ears who's also up for adoption.  They get along great but do not have to be adopted together.  As with all our rescue dogs, they're neutered and up to date on their vaccinations, worming, flea control and heartworm prevention.  Their adoption fee is just $125 each.If one or both of these 'wiener dogs' may be the perfect pets for you please click on the green arrow icon at the top of the page to fill out an online adoption application (no cost or obligation).  Once approved we'll be delighted to set up a time for you to come and visit with them in person.  Thank you for considering one of our rescue pets.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 21, 2025, 5:50 pm

Story
🐶 Meet Tyson — Your Loyal Little Shadow! 🤍Tyson is a 12-year-old, 12.5 lb bundle of pure sweetness who just wants to be wherever you are. He’s the ultimate sidekick — if you’re showering, he’ll be patiently waiting outside the curtain; if you’re in the kitchen, he’s your sous-chef; and when it’s time to relax, he’s right next to you, curled up and content. 🥹🐾This gentle boy has been through a lot. Found as a stray, we learned his original owner had rehomed him, and sadly, his most recent family couldn’t be reached. Despite everything, Tyson’s heart remains full of love and trust. 💕When he first arrived, Tyson was battling a terrible UTI and some scary kidney values — but with treatment and care, he bounced back beautifully! His kidneys are doing great now. He does have a little bladder dribbling here and there, and he takes daily medication to manage his seizures, but don’t worry — he’s as easygoing and sweet as they come. 💊✨Tyson is looking for a calm, loving home where he can finally feel safe and cherished for the rest of his golden years. In return, he’ll give you endless cuddles, loyalty, and the best companionship you could ask for.If you’re searching for a devoted little shadow to fill your home (and heart) with love, Tyson’s your guy. 🤍Despite all he’s been through, Tyson’s heart is pure gold. He’s gentle, affectionate, and adores people as well as dogs of all sizes. He appears to be potty trained, and while his leash skills need a little polishing, he’s giving it his best shot.🙌If you’re searching for a laid-back, loyal companion who will love you endlessly, Tyson is your boy! He’s the perfect size to be your constant cuddle buddy and lifelong shadow. Tyson wants to go home with you TODAY!💗📍Based in Bryan, Texas. We offer nationwide adoptions and transport!💌Message us or comment down below for the direct link to apply! To have your home considered for adoption, read about our adoption process or fees, and find out about interstate transport (dogs only), please visit our website.https://longwayhome.org/apply ❤ Long Way Home makes no guarantees on breed--most animals we receive from shelters are mixed breeds. Story
✨ Meet Penny! ✨Penny is 13 years old, 11 lbs, and has the sweetest little heart you’ll ever meet. She came to us after being surrendered to the shelter with two other seniors because their owners were “moving.” Despite all that, Penny hasn’t lost her spark. She still has plenty of energy, so much love to give, and the cutest personality.Penny is a professional snuggler — her favorite place in the world is curled up next to you under a cozy blanket. If you stop petting her, she’ll gently nudge your hand like, “hey… don’t forget about me.” She loves soaking up the sunshine, snoozing under the covers at night, and relaxing in her dog bed during the day.And yes, she may only have a handful of teeth left, but don’t worry — she never lets that stop her from reminding you when it’s mealtime. She’s small, but her appetite and her enthusiasm are mighty!Penny is simply an easy, loving, joyful little companion. She just wants a warm home, soft blankets, and someone who will adore her as much as she adores them.🤍 If you’re looking for a gentle, sweet senior girl to make your home warmer, Penny is waiting for you.Sweet Penny loves to burrow under her blankets! To have your home considered for adoption, read about our adoption process or fees, and find out about interstate transport (dogs only), please visit our website.https://longwayhome.org/apply ❤ Long Way Home makes no guarantees on breed--most animals we receive from shelters are mixed breeds.
