Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. This sweet-natured and friendly 33 lb guy named 'Axl' suddenly finds himself in need of a second family to love.  About 5 years ago he was rescued as a puppy along with 2 siblings from some very rough living conditions.  When he received his routine veterinary exam, Axl was found to have a potentially lethal congenital heart defect called Patent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA).  This was happily and completely corrected by surgery at Texas A&M and Axl's been living a perfectly healthy life ever since.  However, the family who adopted him as a puppy could no longer keep him due to personal circumstances, so they sadly returned him to our rescue group. Axl has invented several cute tricks such as carrying his leash in his mouth on walks and learned some basic obedience commands.  One of his favorite play friends was a cat who lived in the same home, and he gets along with other dogs as long as they aren't 'over the top' behavior-wise.  Perhaps you can tell what an affectionate, charming and somewhat goofy canine personality Axl has from his photos.  He seems to be doing well in his foster home and is now ready to continue his adventure with a new family. As with all our rescue dogs, Axl is neutered and up to date on vaccinations, worming, flea control and heartworm prevention.  His adoption fee is only $125 which includes a LIFETIME microchip registration with HomeAgain.  If you'd love to claim this very special canine and medical-miracle for your own, please click on the green arrow icon near the top of the page to submit an online adoption application (no cost or obligation).    Thanks for thinking rescue--again!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 10, 2026, 12:09 am

Story
Hi, I’m Linus the Kid, a 13 pound Maltese/Dachshund mix with an impressive resume in being adorable. I am about 11 months old, which means I have mastered the art of playtime, perfected the cuddle curl, and still bring that fun puppy energy to every day. I recently came to CAMO Rescue after my family had some major life changes and illness that made it hard for them to keep me. I was very loved, and now I am ready to share all that love with someone new. I am still settling in, but so far I have been told I am a very sweet boy. I hear I get along well with other dogs and even cats, which makes me quite the social gentleman. My favorite hobby is cuddling. If there is a lap nearby, I consider it my personal invitation. If there is no lap, I am happy to help you create one. I am the perfect size for just about everything, small enough to carry, big enough to keep your heart full. Whether we are going for a walk or settling in for a cozy night, I promise to be right by your side, probably leaning into you for extra pets. If you are looking for a loyal little shadow who will make you smile every day and take his cuddle duties very seriously, I think we should meet. My name is Linus, and I am ready to be your favorite hello. Adoption fee is: $500 ALL adoptions require a completed application, vet check, home check and final contract. The application to adopt can be found at www.camorescue.com. Adoption fees are variable. Up to date vaccines, microchip, spay/neuter are included in the fee. Once your application has been approved, we will put you in touch with a CAMO representative to set up a meet and greet. We select the best applicant for each dog, based on the dog's needs. For the safety of our small breed dogs and based on our past experiences, we will not place our dogs in homes with large breed dogs. EIN # 46-5486022

Story
Odie - Wirehaired Dachshund Mix - Male - 3 years - www.twyla.org If you'd like to know more about this dog please visit our website at www.Twyla.org Meet Odie: This gorgeous 3-year-old Wirehaired Dachshund and maybe Bassett Hound mix is sweet and gentle but also a little shy and timid. Odie was surrendered to us when his owner could no longer take care of him, and he's getting comfortable in his new foster home. Odie takes a while to warm up to new people - he mostly avoids eye contact until he figures out if he can trust you. Odie does well with other calm dogs his size - he's not looking for a playmate, but rather a parallel companion he can follow and mirror. He is not a fan of being alone and will voice that displeasure in a manner that suggests that his DNA contains some Bassett  Hound in there - along with the "he's a very long lowrider, isn't he?". He is fully house trained, walks well on leash and rides comfortably in the car. Odie is getting comfortable enough to play with his new toys. We suspect that Odie's vision isn't the best as he closely follows his chosen dog mentor around the house - this could also explain his lack of making eye contact with people. He follows his humans around the house, but not in a clingy Velcro dog manner, more in a supervisory capacity. Odie is looking for a patient home that will give him time to gain trust and security. He does OK with children that can respect his boundaries = if he moves away, let him. Another dog for him to follow will likely immediately increase his comfort level, as will someone who is home a lot. Odie is not a good candidate for a first time owner, nor is he suited for apartment living, as he will alert the neighbors the minute you step out. ***Please note: All dogs are fostered in private homes of volunteers, so to meet a dog please fill out an Adoption Application on our website (http://www.twyla.org/adopt/our-adoption-process) so we may setup a private meetup with the dog or coordinate for an Introduction at the next general Adoption Meet and Greet (as listed on our website: (http://www.twyla.org/upcoming-events), as not all dogs attend all Meet and Greets*** ***Please note: All dogs are fostered in private homes of volunteers, so to meet a dog please fill out an Adoption Application on our website (http://www.twyla.org/adopt/our-adoption-process) so we may setup a private meetup with the dog or coordinate for an Introduction at the next general Adoption Meet and Greet (as listed on our website: (http://www.twyla.org/upcoming-events), as not all dogs attend all Meet and Greets***

Story
Heartworm Prevention is given on the 27th of each month China came to CTDR from a heartbreaking large-scale breeding and hoarding situation involving more than 80 dogs. This sweet girl is understandably scared and nervous as she tries to make sense of a world that is completely new to her. With patience, consistency, and kindness, China will need time to learn that she is finally safe. China has completed her initial vetting and heartworm treatment and is continuing to heal and gain confidence. She is a bigger girl and will benefit from a little “Weight Watchers” to help her lose a few extra pounds as she settles into a healthier routine. If you would like to give China the loving home she deserves, please complete an adoption application at www.ctdr.org. Story
Heartworm Prevention is given on the 29th of each month Meet Slinky, a handsome senior gentleman who is the newest arrival to CTDR. Slinky was found wandering the streets of North Texas and taken to a local shelter, where he was at risk. CTDR was contacted, and we stepped in immediately to give this sweet boy a second chance. Slinky loves to burrow under his covers and his favorite thing in the world is to lay in the sun and enjoy the outdoors.  He also loves his walks and is good on a harness and leash.                    Slinky has begun his vetting process and will need a dental, as his mouth is in rough shape. He gets along well with other dogs and truly loves being with his people. If you are interested in giving Slinky a loving forever home and a cozy place to enjoy his golden years, please complete an adoption application at www.ctdr.org. Story
Heartworm Prevention is given on the 8th of each month Wendy arrived at CTDR with her beloved best friend, Peter Pan, and the two are deeply bonded and must be adopted together. Wendy is a beautiful red longhair girl who has completed her vetting and is ready, along with Peter Pan, for a foster home or forever home. She is a very timid and docile girl with a kind, gentle heart. Wendy loves attention and cuddles and is happiest when being held. She prefers the company of Peter Pan over other dogs and enjoys going on walks with him, and she can experience separation anxiety if they are apart. Wendy enjoys sunbathing outdoors, never turns down a treat, and is leash trained, crate trained, and baby gate trained. She is still working on her potty habits and tends to follow Peter Pan’s lead, but continues to make progress. If you would like to welcome Wendy and Peter Pan into your family, please complete an adoption application at www.ctdr.org. They are gentle, easy companions who would be happiest in a home where they can stay together and enjoy their golden years side by side.
