Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. This sweet-natured and friendly 33 lb guy named 'Axl' suddenly finds himself in need of a second family to love.  About 5 years ago he was rescued as a puppy along with 2 siblings from some very rough living conditions.  When he received his routine veterinary exam, Axl was found to have a potentially lethal congenital heart defect called Patent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA).  This was happily and completely corrected by surgery at Texas A&M and Axl's been living a perfectly healthy life ever since.  However, the family who adopted him as a puppy could no longer keep him due to personal circumstances, so they sadly returned him to our rescue group. Axl has invented several cute tricks such as carrying his leash in his mouth on walks and learned some basic obedience commands.  One of his favorite play friends was a cat who lived in the same home, and he gets along with other dogs as long as they aren't 'over the top' behavior-wise.  Perhaps you can tell what an affectionate, charming and somewhat goofy canine personality Axl has from his photos.  He seems to be doing well in his foster home and is now ready to continue his adventure with a new family. As with all our rescue dogs, Axl is neutered and up to date on vaccinations, worming, flea control and heartworm prevention.  His adoption fee is only $125 which includes a LIFETIME microchip registration with HomeAgain.  If you'd love to claim this very special canine and medical-miracle for your own, please click on the green arrow icon near the top of the page to submit an online adoption application (no cost or obligation).    Thanks for thinking rescue--again!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 10, 2026, 12:09 am

Story
Benjamin is new to our rescue and is settling in at his foster home.  At only 14 pounds he is a small pup......easy to pick up, hold in your lap, and take along for car rides.  Go ahead and apply to meet this cute fellow.  You will fall in love.  He is just adorable.  Best guess is he is some kind of Mini Dachshund mix. Benjamin, is about one year old.  He is neutered, has his rabies certificate, and is up to date on his vaccines.  His foster mom has not heard him bark once yet.....not even one time.....and he has been in rescue for five weeks now.   He is a quiet little fellow.  Benjamin needs a fully fenced yard, and someone who can be gentle and patient with him.  He gets nervous easily.  Benjamin loves to go on walks and walks very well on leash.  Do you want to meet this sweet babe?  Fill out an application and his foster mom will get in touch with you.June 16, 2026, 1:39 pm

Story
Meet Cordelia 🐾 Cordelia is a 5-year-old Dachshund mix weighing just 11 pounds, with a soft gray coat that's slowly recovering from a difficult past. Rescued from a hoarding situation, Cordelia arrived neglected and missing fur across much of her body. With proper care, good nutrition, and a safe environment, she's already beginning to heal, and her beautiful coat is gradually growing back. This little girl is incredibly shy, deeply insecure, and still learning that the world can be a kind place. She won't be the dog who rushes up to greet strangers or demands attention. Instead, Cordelia communicates in the sweetest, quietest ways—a gentle glance, a cautious step forward, or a tiny tail wag that feels like a huge victory. Every bit of trust she offers is something she has worked hard to give. Cordelia will need a patient adopter who understands that building confidence takes time. She relies heavily on the comfort and reassurance of other dogs and will need a confident, friendly canine companion in her future home. In fact, Cordelia is not a candidate for life as an only dog—she truly needs another stable, social dog in the home to help her feel safe and secure. She looks to other dogs for guidance, confidence, and comfort, and their presence helps her navigate new situations with far less fear. While her true personality is still emerging, the sweetness underneath is impossible to miss. With patience, consistency, a calm home, and the support of a canine friend, Cordelia's walls will continue to come down, revealing the loving companion waiting beneath them. If you have a gentle heart, a patient spirit, and a welcoming dog who can show her the way, Cordelia may be the perfect addition to your family. Watching her gain confidence and discover what it means to be loved will be one of the most rewarding journeys you can take. ✨🐶 Adoption fee is: $350 ALL adoptions require a completed application, vet check, home check and final contract. The application to adopt can be found at www.camorescue.com. Adoption fees are variable. Up to date vaccines, microchip, spay/neuter are included in the fee. Once your application has been approved, we will put you in touch with a CAMO representative to set up a meet and greet. We select the best applicant for each dog, based on the dog's needs. For the safety of our small breed dogs and based on our past experiences, we will not place our dogs in homes with large breed dogs. EIN # 46-5486022

Story
Meet Canelo 🐾 Canelo is an approximately 2-year-old pup weighing in at a perfect 16–17 lbs. He’s house trained, great with other dogs, and rides nicely in the car—making him an easy companion for both home life and adventures. Canelo is a happy, healthy boy with a very sweet nature. He’s already neutered, microchipped, has had a dental cleaning, and received his first round of vaccines. He would do best in a home with another active dog, as he really thrives with a canine companion. No cats for this boy. If you’re looking for a loving, well-mannered dog to add to your family, Canelo could be the perfect match! 💛 Adoption fee is: $450 ALL adoptions require a completed application, vet check, home check and final contract. Story
Lewis - Dachshund/Terrier Mix - Male - 1 Year - www.twyla.org If you'd like to know more about this dog please visit our website at www.Twyla.org Meet Lewis! Lewis came to us as a stray and has quickly adjusted to his new foster home. This 1-year-old 13lbs Dachshund/Terrier mix is full of energy and personality! He loves being around people and other animals and is happiest when he’s part of the action. Whether it’s a walk, a play session, or just hanging out with his people, he’s always ready to join in. He’s still a young dog who is learning his manners. He can get excited and may jump or bark when meeting other pets, but he settles down with a little time and would benefit from having another dog in the house. He also does well with confident cats after some time. Lewis is still working on potty training, but he’s making good progress. He can be a bit mouthy during play, so he would do best in a home without small children. An older child who wants a playful companion would likely be a great fit. He loves squeaky toys, chew toys, and just about any game you want to play with him. At night, he sleeps well in his kennel, but he doesn’t enjoy being left alone for long periods and would thrive in a home where someone is around most of the day. He’s pretty good on a leash and enjoys walks… at least until he decides he’s done. He’s a stubborn, funny boy with plenty of opinions, and when he doesn’t want to do something, he’ll make that very clear. He’ll benefit from continued training, but he’s eager to be part of a family that will help him learn while appreciating all the joy and laughs he brings along the way. ***Please note: All dogs are fostered in private homes of volunteers, so to meet a dog please fill out an Adoption Application on our website (http://www.twyla.org/adopt/our-adoption-process) so we may setup a private meetup with the dog or coordinate for an Introduction at the next general Adoption Meet and Greet (as listed on our website: (http://www.twyla.org/upcoming-events), as not all dogs attend all Meet and Greets***
