Story
Meet Daffodil — a little flower who’s finally learning to bloom. Daffodil is a 3–4-year-old, 17-pound pup with a heart as gentle as her name. She came from a hoarding situation and has spent the last several months discovering what it means to feel safe and loved. Her journey hasn’t been easy, but it’s been remarkable to watch her grow. Daffodil is very dog-friendly and absolutely needs at least one other dog in her home — they’re her comfort, her confidence, and her teachers. A securely fenced yard is also a must, as Daffodil doesn’t yet know how to walk on a leash and finds joy in running full speed through the grass, getting the zoomies, and playing with toys. She’s not fully house trained, but she does well using puppy pads when she can’t make it outside. Daffodil has also shown potential to live peacefully with cats. Because of her past, Daffodil is wary of new people and situations. She needs a calm, patient home without a lot of noise or chaos. The first few weeks (or even months) will take understanding and consistency — but when she decides you’re one of her people, you’ll know it. She becomes affectionate, playful, and loves nothing more than burrowing under the blanket for a snuggle or inviting you to play her favorite games. Daffodil isn’t an “easy” dog — she’s a special one. She’s looking for a home that will meet her where she is and help her continue to blossom into the joyful, trusting little dog she’s meant to be.

Story
Bubbles is a very sweet nine-and-a-half-year-old, Long Hair Dachshund who came into our care after her owner lost her job where she worked from home throughout her entire career. Her new job required her to be away for 10 to 12 hours each day. Out of love, she decided it would be best for her to go to a new home where someone is present most of the day. She is sweet-natured, enjoys running and playing, and occasionally gets the Zoomies and scamper around the fenced-in-yard. She gets along wonderfully with other dogs and cats and she has a calm, quiet, and laid-back demeanor. Bubbles is fully house-trained and goes to the door when she needs to go out. She will also come find you and let you know it’s time. She is a very good eater, well-behaved, and offers affection to other family members or canine friends. Health-wise, other than needing to lose a few pounds, she is in excellent condition, with bloodwork results within normal limits, rabies and distemper vaccinations up-to-date, and she recently underwent a dental cleaning. This lovable soul would make a fantastic addition to any family, bringing joy and companionship for many years to come

Story
Bricks is a 9 year old, pitbull mix who is absolutely built like a brick. Short, heavy, thick, brown-ish red. He's a low rider with tiny little legs and minimum ground clearance. Bricks is a charming little guy who likes to bounce, sniff and explore! He's happy, friendly and loves to cuddle up under a warm blanket. He was house trained but may need a refresher after being kenneled. He's excellent on-leash and is the perfect little partner to stroll with you around the neighborhood. Bricks was adopted out from a rescue years ago. Shortly, after being adopted from them, he stripped his collar while out for a walk and hurt another dog. Tougher than the 90's crime bill, Va law labeled Bricks as "dangerous" and he will pay for that mistake for the rest of his life. One strike, he's out. He's lucky he isn't dead. He was able to live at a sanctuary ran by that rescue but when they closed, Bricks had no where to go. Lucky for him, the President of Augusta Dog Adoptions is famililar with Va law and was willing to care for Bricks as legally required. Bricks can be adopted within the state of Va with additional requirements. But hey, we have good dogs that no one wants so the chances of that are slim to none. Brick's best chance of finding a home is out of state. He cannot go to a home with cats. He has been ok with some dogs but dominant/aggressive with others. The safest place for him is in a home without other pets. I don't know how to tell someone they should adopt a dog with such a label. You would just have to meet him for yourself. He's little and kind and cute and funny and he deserves to have a family who loves him. A reduced adoption fee of $100 does apply for Bricks, our seniors, special medical and behavioral needs dogs and other "slow to adopt" dogs! Augusta Dog Adoptions is an all- volunteer, foster- based rescue. We take applications online and schedule individual adoptions in the Waynesboro, VA. A $175.00 adoption fee ($300 for puppies under 6 months old) helps us take care of all the dogs we rescue. All dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm and tick borne diseases (if old enough), microchipped, and vaccinated for rabies (if old enough), distemper/parvo and bordetella. They are also treated for internal and external parasites. Many dogs also receive extensive medical care such as dental work and major surgeries. Story
Moped is a sweet, Happy go lucky Beagle/Dachshund mix guy who is bursting with personality! He’s a certified lap dog who loves being close to his people- but don’t be surprised if he suddenly gets the zoomies while playing. He’s currently thriving in his foster home with another dog and takes his cues from his canine companions, making him a great fit for a home with another easygoing pup. Moped is crate trained, good with other dogs, and a total snuggle bug. He is a little self concious about a small benign tumor on his head, but he wants to assure you that it is completely harmless and just adds to his unique charm!
