Story
When you check the boxes for the perfect small dog that you want to bring in to your life, you have to consider our amazing little guy named Sammy Boy.  This Dachshund mix boy is about 6-8 months old and weighs16 pounds with a projected 20 pound adult size expected.  He is just a one of a kind personality and look that just makes your heart pitter patter when he is around.   He adores his toys that we think are the first that he has ever had. Having come all the way from a small town New Mexico kill shelter where he and many others had their lives on the line, Sammy Boy arrived at Critter Cavalry Rescue with a shy and scared soul.  It wasn't but a few days until he slowly let go of his fears and embraced the love from his foster family.  Now he loves to play all day and follow his foster mom around like her shadow.  He loves to crawl in her lap and just soak up all the affection that she showers on him.  Her affirmations of love, guidance coupled with the structure that we know he has never had in his life, has bring out Sammy Boy's amazing personality and charm.   He is learning all about crate training. doggie doors, bathroom schedules and how to live like a pampered dog indoors with all the other little foster friends.   We cannot say enough about how wonderful this little guy promises to be for a new family.  He would do best with older children in the home and he would be a great little neighborhood walking pal every day. This bright little boy has learned everything with ease and is on the fast track to learn more about being a spectacular dog.  This boy is ready to go now!!!   Don't hesitate if you are looking for a dog that will no bigger than 25 pounds and one that will be your best friend in life and  a friend to all dogs, cats and people he meets in life.   Please email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com if you are interested.  He is currently in Nashville, TN but is ready for a new home in Tennessee or out of state in the northeastern region.  We transport every weekend to the northeast and he could be on the next van this coming weekend. PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comApril 17, 2026, 11:55 am

Story
Naomi is the kind of little dog who makes you stop, smile, and fall in love all in the same moment. This beautiful Dachshund mix girl has the most heart-melting smile and a gentle, loving spirit that quietly reaches right into your heart. At just 1 year old and full grown at a slim 14 pounds, she’s the perfect petite companion—with a limousine, extra-long little body that only adds to her charm. What we love most are those adorable short legs, with her tiny toes turned outward, making her absolutely unforgettable.   Naomi’s journey hasn’t been an easy one. She was rescued by a kind woman who travels the country in a tractor trailer, giving dogs like Naomi a chance at a better life. For days, Naomi rode along in the cab, surrounded by other small dogs all hoping for rescue. When Critter Cavalry stepped in to save her and others, her new chapter finally began.   At first, Naomi wasn’t sure who to trust—but watching her slowly open up has been something truly special. Day by day, her sweet personality has blossomed as she’s learned that she is safe, loved, and finally home. She does wonderfully with other dogs and is playful, gentle, and beautifully mannered. She’s housebroken, walks nicely with a harness, and carries herself with a quiet grace that makes you want to protect her forever.   Naomi is more than just a pretty face—she’s a little soul who has learned to trust again, and she’s ready to give her whole heart to someone who will cherish her. She’s healthy, spayed, heartworm negative, and completely ready to start her forever life.   If you’re looking for a one-of-a-kind companion with beauty, sweetness, and that irresistible low-rider charm, Naomi is your girl. Email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com to bring this special little lady home.

Story
Knox is just the cutest little pup and ready for a family of his own! Meet Knox, our adorable “coconut retriever” who has been settling beautifully into foster life. He’s already enjoying backyard playtime, tagging along to soccer games, and hanging out with the kids while they do homework. His latest pictures say it all, he’s relaxed, happy, and loving life. At 4 months old and about 10 lbs, Knox is current on age-appropriate vaccines and will be neutered when old enough. He’s social, loving, playful, and curious. He adores kids, gets along great with other pets, and is always ready to charm everyone he meets. Knox is truly a one-of-a-kind mix of mixes, with guesses including Shepherd, Dachshund, Shih Tzu, and who knows what else. He’s got silky fur, short legs, floppy ears, and the fluffiest little head and feet. Basically, impossible not to fall in love with. If you’re ready to add some puppy fun and cuddles to your life, apply today to meet Knox! I love my people and pupparoni treats. I am a very smart curious boy. I can open doors and crates if not fully secure. Please keep me safe and double check its all secure. I am crate trained and have been left for many hours in the past just beware I will love and jump on you when you get home. I ask for you to play with me and my toys and then we can settle down for some cuddle time. Please note I need slow and supervised introductions to children and dogs.

Story
Opie is a very sweet and loving pup. I bought him at 12 weeks old from a pet store. He is a bit needy as most dachshunds are. He loves to sleep under blankets and cuddle between your legs. He is good with other dogs after getting his sniffs in. He doesn’t like to be with crazy puppy’s though. He’s okay with kids but only if they keep them hand to themselves. He has some skin allergies and itches a lot during certain seasons. I bought him before I met my wife and now I have 3 kids under 3. It’s to much to keep up with having pets and paying all the vet bills and food. I hate to re home him but it’s for the best. I think Opie would do great with an older person and Someone with a yard or deck to hangout on. He loves to sun bathe. If you have had another pet he may try to mark inside if there sent it there too. He’s usually good about going potty outside as long as he’s let out a lot. He also hates crates!! He has anxiety attacks being locked up
