Story
Meet Coda!!Coda is a charming, long-eared `teenager` looking for a family to join his pack. At seven months old, he has already been neutered and is entering the fun, slightly stubborn adolescent phase where his personality is truly starting to shine.Personality & TemperamentThe Social Butterfly: Like most Bassets, Coda is a social creature who thrives on companionship. He is naturally affectionate with his family and typically gets along well with other dogs and children.Nose First, Questions Later: Coda is a scent hound through and through. Once he catches an interesting trail, he might get `selective hearing,` so a secure, fenced yard is a must for his safety.A `Mellow` Athlete: While he loves a good snooze on the couch, Coda still needs about 30–60 minutes of moderate daily exercise—like a long, sniff-heavy walk—to keep his weight in check and protect his developing joints.Vocal & Expressive: Expect a few soulful howls or bays! Coda uses his voice to communicate when he`s excited or feeling a bit lonely.Training & Care NeedsAdolescent Antics: At seven months, he may occasionally test boundaries or `forget` commands he once knew. Patience, consistency, and plenty of high-value treats are the keys to his heart and his cooperation.Joint Safety: Because he is still growing, it is important to limit Coda`s use of stairs and prevent him from jumping off high furniture until he is about 18 months old to protect his long back.Grooming: His short tricolor coat is low-maintenance, but his signature long ears need weekly cleaning to stay healthy and infection-free.Ideal HomeCoda would do best in a home where:Someone is around for much of the day, as Bassets can struggle with separation anxiety. There is a secure outdoor area for supervised sniffing. His family understands the `hound way` of thinking—patient, goofy, and always ready for a cuddle.
