10/7/26 pupdate from foster family🐾: Tamale (we call him Tom) is housebroken. He’s one of the sweetest dogs. He loves cuddling (he literally gives hugs), pets and giving lots of kisses and he has the most adorable eyes. He looks more like a Dachshund than anything else. He’s small and long-bodied. He likes to play with other dogs and loves chew toys (he needs chew toys for heavy-duty chewers). He sleeps quietly in his crate all night . He learns fast. The first day we had him Bill had his hands full so he itched him with his foot. Since then, if Bill doesn’t itch him right away he goes straight for his foot. LOL!!!

Petunia Follow Me has a way of making every new discovery feel like a little adventure together. In her foster home, she’s often the first puppy to explore, with the others following her lead. She moves through the world with curiousity, checking back in with her people along the way. She looks a bit like an extra-large Dachshund but our best guess is that she may be a Dachshund and Rottweiler. No science, just observation. in her foster home, she lives with other dogs and is outgoing and confident in familiar surroundings. Her foster says she’s often the first to try something new, with the other puppies following her lead. New places and unfamiliar dogs can take Petunia a little more time. She does best with calm introductions and looks to her people for reassurance while she gets comfortable. Once she does, she seeks out connection and shows off more of the affectionate, lively puppy her foster knows. She is actively working on all the basics including leash walks but because she is growing and learning she will need continued training once she arrives home. Petunia has plenty of growing and learning ahead of her, and she already has two lovely things going for her- a curious spirit and a habit of looking to her person to make sure she is on track and keeping your happy. Meet Darrell! This tiny, ridiculously handsome little guy is about a year old and we believe he may be a Dachshund/chihuahua mix. With his short legs, speckled paws, expressive eyebrows, and permanent "I know something you don't know" grin, Darrell looks like he walked straight out of a cartoon. At first glance, Darrell can come across as a tough guy. In reality, he's more like a tiny security guard who takes his job a little too seriously. His job? Making sure his favorite people are safe and properly loved. He absolutely adores his trusted humans and turns into a total cuddle bug. He's perfectly lap-sized, loves curling up next to his family, and thinks car rides are one of the greatest inventions of all time. If you're headed somewhere, Darrell would like to come too. He also loves having a routine. His crate is his cozy little bedroom, and he happily trots right inside when it's time to relax. Predictability helps him feel safe, and he's the kind of dog who thrives when he knows what to expect. Darrell currently lives with dogs and cats and does very well with both. He's generally pretty aloof with other dogs, preferring to mind his own business rather than get involved in puppy politics. He gets along well with dogs who respect personal space and don't constantly pester him. He also lives with cats and has learned that after one firm feline correction, it's best to mind your own business. Smart guy. Now for the important part: Darrell is not a dog who enjoys strangers getting in his face or handling him before trust has been built. He can absolutely be mouthy when he's uncomfortable and may snap or bite if his boundaries are ignored. He's not being mean—he's just very clear about his feelings and expects people to listen. Because of this, Darrell needs an adopter who understands dog body language and respects that relationships take time. Darrell thrives on routine and predictability. He loves his crate, enjoys knowing what's coming next, and settles beautifully into home life. His foster reports that he has experienced occasional seizures throughout his life, but they have been rare and have never stopped him from being a happy, adventurous little dog. Car rides, lap time, snacks, and spending time with his favorite people are still at the top of his priority list. Because of his medical history and his preference for limited stranger handling, Darrell will be adopted as-is. Future adopters should be comfortable monitoring his health alongside their veterinarian, but overall he continues to enjoy a fantastic quality of life and spends his days doing what he does best: being an adorable little sidekick. The good news? Once he trusts you, he's incredibly loving, loyal, and affectionate. The bond he forms with his people is something special. He's not looking for a hundred friends. He's looking for his family. His ideal home would be a quieter household with older children or adults who appreciate a dog with a little sass and a lot of personality. Gideon Beau invitation to play comes with the cutest little routine: tappy feet, a quick zoom one way, then right back again, all to convince a dog friend to join the fun. Our best guess is that he’s a Dachshund/Chihuahua mix, but with animal rescue, breed is always a bit of a mystery! What we do know is that this little boy has plenty of sweetness and silliness packed into his tiny body. Gideon can be shy when he first meets you, so give him a little time to settle in and get to know you. Gentle encouragement, kind words, and tasty treats help him feel comfortable enough to let his personality shine. 10/7/26 pupdate from foster fam💖: Yes! Potty training is going great! And we are working on crate training🫡 Great with both cats and kids. Has done well in the car! Loves to steal her own leash and sneak goldfish crackers. Is a HUGE fan of binkies! 😂 We are HUGE fans of this girl!
