Haribo is a 1 year old Miniature Wire Haired Dachshund. He loves to cuddle and is happiest wherever you are. He is a quiet and low-energy guy who just wants to be near his people. Haribo would be a great match for a first-time dog owner, a semi-active couple or individual, a family with older, respectful kids who match his chill vibe, or a home with another friendly small dog. If you’re looking for a devoted companion who will go on walks, play a little fetch, attend your gatherings, and then curl up beside you at the end of the day — Haribo is your guy! Haribo has been a very good sleeper in his closed crate in the living room, sleeping quietly after settling after his last potty break at about 11pm and sleeping until about 6am. Haribo prefers to be outside in the yard for at least 10 minutes before going potty. He tried a 2ft x 5ft length of fresh sod on an upstairs deck, but he didn't take to it and did much better when out in the backyard with room to wander for a bit sniffing for a good spot. Potty pads are available inside, but doesn’t understand why they are useful yet. With a consistent schedule for going out and figuring out for how he asks to go out should solve the problem. Haribo has taken to the adult male person in the house and prefers his company but also looks to the adult female, just not as often. He is very quiet, only barking/whining for a bit on the first night when sleeping alone in the crate. He is a funny boy who is eager to please his people. He likes to play with toys, and enthusiastically brings a toy back when playing fetch, wanting the game to continue as long as possible. Haribo is a chill, easy-going boy that travels easily and quietly in the car and would make a great travel buddy. He is good with cats. He is a happy, funny boy who is full of silly Doxie expressions and antics that will make you laugh. He is a sensitive boy who wants to please his people and to be the best boy. A Quick but Important Note to All Adopters:
Please remember that none of our dogs arrive fully trained. Most come from tough or uncertain beginnings and may have never lived in a home or known basic routines. That means:

✧ They are not potty trained on arrival. Most dogs regress in potty training when moving to a new environment.

✧ They may lack basic manners (like leash walking or appropriate chewing).

✧ They’re learning, growing, and doing their best—but they will need patience, structure, and compassion to succeed.

The majority of these pups have lived in the confinement of a cage or kennel run for most - if not all - of their lives. Because of this, we strongly discourage the use of crates for anything other than vehicle transport. They deserve the chance to decompress and learn what true freedom and comfort feel like.

Our amazing foster homes work hard to start these dogs on the right path, but they are rescues, not finished products. These dogs need time, consistency, and a loving home willing to meet them where they are.

Also, breed designations are our best guesses based on appearance and behavior. We can't guarantee breed, size, adult weight, or coat type.

A compassionate rescuer witnessed this and refused to look away. She advocated for him and brought him to safety. Though faint marks remain as reminders of his past, Caramelo has long since embraced love and security. Monty is literally a little old man. He isn’t actually “old” but he sure is living life on little legs. He definitely has a salt-and-pepper face and “retired gentleman” energy. His retirement dream is simple- a peaceful home, coziness, and a person who feels whole-heartedly that quality time is the best time, because it absolutely does! If Monty had a motto is would be “slow is the new fast.” Want to see his low-key vibes and tiny-leg strut in action? If you are going to corner us for a “breed” we might go with little lab/little pittie. Very official. He is estimated to be 8 years old and weighs 36 lbs (best guess, rescue rules apply). And don’t let the age or the little legs fool you- he gets around just fine, he just prefers life at his own pace, nice and slow. On walks, he does occasionally decide to insist on a break. Its easy enough to get him moving but it is also just as easy to take his lead and have a little break. He is trying to remind you that neither of you are training for a marathon. At heart, Monty is a sweet companion. He has showed us an especially side with little ones. He goes from the sweet snuggly moments into clearing space for a spontaneous cartwheel or Barbie Jeep take-off. He is even okay with a dress-up moment. We wouldn’t say he is down to be a “toy” dog, afterall our seniors deserve a little peace and quiet to rest, but he will be like the fun grandpa who drops into the party for a bit. We would recommend kids 5+ who can follow his lead and give him the gentle, easygoing treatment he’s earned along with understanding he needs sleep to recharge for the fun. For his ideal home, just between us, Monty would love to be in an only dog home. He has heard about how peaceful and full of love only-dog life is and since then he hasnt stopped dreaming. He has shown he can warm up and even gets moments of bouncy and playful energy but it is short short lived and moves right into “I’ll be over here smelling.” The only absolute is no cats. And again because he has earned it, we respect our elders.
