Story
Meet Darrell! This tiny, ridiculously handsome little guy is about a year old and we believe he may be a Dachshund/chihuahua mix. With his short legs, speckled paws, expressive eyebrows, and permanent "I know something you don't know" grin, Darrell looks like he walked straight out of a cartoon. At first glance, Darrell can come across as a tough guy. In reality, he's more like a tiny security guard who takes his job a little too seriously. His job? Making sure his favorite people are safe and properly loved. Watch Darrell in action in his video! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vTR5fmcZ9EM Once Darrell decides you're one of his people, you're in. He absolutely adores his trusted humans and turns into a total cuddle bug. He's perfectly lap-sized, loves curling up next to his family, and thinks car rides are one of the greatest inventions of all time. If you're headed somewhere, Darrell would like to come too. He also loves having a routine. His crate is his cozy little bedroom, and he happily trots right inside when it's time to relax. Predictability helps him feel safe, and he's the kind of dog who thrives when he knows what to expect. Darrell currently lives with dogs and cats and does very well with both. He's generally pretty aloof with other dogs, preferring to mind his own business rather than get involved in puppy politics. He gets along well with dogs who respect personal space and don't constantly pester him. He also lives with cats and has learned that after one firm feline correction, it's best to mind your own business. Smart guy. Now for the important part: Darrell is not a dog who enjoys strangers getting in his face or handling him before trust has been built. He can absolutely be mouthy when he's uncomfortable and may snap or bite if his boundaries are ignored. He's not being mean—he's just very clear about his feelings and expects people to listen. Because of this, Darrell needs an adopter who understands dog body language and respects that relationships take time. Darrell thrives on routine and predictability. He loves his crate, enjoys knowing what's coming next, and settles beautifully into home life. His foster reports that he has experienced occasional seizures throughout his life, but they have been rare and have never stopped him from being a happy, adventurous little dog. Car rides, lap time, snacks, and spending time with his favorite people are still at the top of his priority list. Because of his medical history and his preference for limited stranger handling, Darrell will be adopted as-is. Future adopters should be comfortable monitoring his health alongside their veterinarian, but overall he continues to enjoy a fantastic quality of life and spends his days doing what he does best: being an adorable little sidekick. The good news? Once he trusts you, he's incredibly loving, loyal, and affectionate. The bond he forms with his people is something special. He's not looking for a hundred friends. He's looking for his family. His ideal home would be a quieter household with older children or adults who appreciate a dog with a little sass and a lot of personality. No apartments for this guy—he can be a bit chatty when he has opinions, and Darrell definitely has opinions. Darrell is the canine version of that grumpy old man who secretly has a heart of gold. He's funny, loyal, adorable, and full of character. He won't love everyone, but if he chooses you, you'll have one of the most devoted little sidekicks around. And honestly? That's kind of what makes him so special. 🖤🐾✨ Ready to welcome a new furry friend into your life? Meet Casper (aka Caspi)! 🤍🐾 Looking for the ultimate cuddle buddy? Casper is your guy! This adorable 5-year-old Dachshund/Chihuahua mix believes blankets were invented for snuggling and that the best place in the world is right next to his favorite human. ❤️ ✨ Casper's Highlights: 🐶 5-year-old neutered male 🛋️ Low-energy couch companion 🏡 Housebroken & crate trained 🚗 Loves car rides 🤍 Very people-oriented 🛏️ Professional blanket burrower 🎉 Greets you with the happiest little yips when you come home! Casper is a goofy little guy with a big heart who simply wants to be included in whatever you're doing. Whether it's a trip to the store, relaxing on the couch, or binge-watching your favorite shows, he's happiest just being by your side. Story
**Charlie and Cody: Bonded Dachshund-Corgi Mix Brothers**   Charlie and Cody are gentle, reserved brothers, approx. 15 months old, both neutered. They were left at the shelter with their three sisters, and after being separated from them, the boys formed a strong bond. Now, they are affectionate and starting to enjoy life in the Pacific Northwest. They are gradually building trust with their foster family and getting used to their new home. Both are safe, well-fed, and comfortable. They are up to date on vaccinations and have no known health issues, so they are ready for adoption. Their foster home does not have a fenced yard, and because Cody and Charlie are still settling in, they have not yet started using harnesses or going for walks on a leash.  We hope the boys can be adopted together into a home with a fenced yard, so they have a safe place for potty breaks and can learn to walk on a harness and leash. Cody and Charlie might be shy at first, but they are curious and want to connect with people. They are motivated by food and will gladly take treats from your hand. They like being spoken to and respond well to a gentle voice. With time, patience, and love, they will become devoted companions. We prefer adopters who have experience with shy or untrained dogs, or who are open to guidance, to help the boys adjust smoothly to their new home. We do not know if they have been around children, so we recommend a home without kids or with children over 12. The Corgi-Dachshund mix, also known as a “Dorgi,” was first bred by Queen Elizabeth of the UK. Because they have a prey drive, they should not live with small animals or cats . **Adopting Cody and  Charlie **  To  adopt Cody and Charlie, please use the link below. One of our volunteers will review your application, follow up with you to ask questions, address any concerns, and see if you are a good match for these pups. If you are a match, the next step will be a meet-and-greet. Please use a computer to fill out the application, as tablets and cell phones may cause issues. The boys now eat a human-grade diet that avoids kibble and focuses on healthy, dog-specific food. We will teach their adopters about proper diet and nutrition. The adoption fee for adopting the boys together is $595 and includes neuter, all vaccines, and a microchip. www.smallpupsrescue.org  August 18, 2026, 8:27 am

**Libby** Libby is a 15-pound, 3-year-old female Dachshund-Corgi mix. She was found with her daughter and two sons running with stray dogs that had been dumped in Fresno, California.  Libby is a sweet girl who would be perfect for a retired woman. She loves women and is more cautious toward men tho she will gravitate toward dog-friendly men with time and trust.                              Libby's ideal adopter(s) are a woman and someone experienced with abused rescue dogs. Libby is a bit of a couch potato, but with encouragement, she will walk on a harness and lead and explore with you.  Libby LOVES to cuddle with her person. She is extremely affectionate and, once bonded, she becomes yours forever!!  She will be fine as an only dog as long as she has her person close by and is not left alone for long periods. She gets along well with other friendly small breed dogs. Libby is spayed and up to date on her vaccines, and she is ready for her forever people **Adopting Libby** To adopt Libby, please use the link below. One of our volunteers will review your application and follow up with you to ask questions, address any concerns, and determine whether you are a good match for this pup. If a match is made, the next step will be a meet-and-greet. Please use a computer to complete the application, as tablets and cell phones may disrupt the process. Tucker has transitioned to a human-grade diet that avoids kibble and focuses on a healthy, canine-specific feeding regimen. We will educate her adopters on proper diet and nutrition.   The adoption fee for Libby is $450 and includes spay, vaccines, rabies, and microchip   www.smallpupsrescue.org         August 18, 2026, 8:27 am

Louis is an incredibly lovable little puppy with the sweetest heart and the funniest personality. Around four months old, he is already full of charm and has this happy, goofy energy that makes people fall in love with him instantly. He’s playful and curious and always seems ready for the next little adventure. Louis loves toys, loves other dogs, and loves having fun. He gets so excited during playtime and has the cutest bouncy little movements that make him look like a tiny cartoon character. He can turn absolutely anything into entertainment and somehow makes even simple puppy antics feel hilarious. Watch his YouTube video now https://youtu.be/YXPibXE5m0Y?si=Ybl5pGECRV5qDk_K He also has such a gentle and affectionate side. Louis loves being pet and cuddled and has this soft, loving personality that shines through the moment he settles down beside you. After he’s done playing, he’s more than happy to curl up close and soak up attention. He really enjoys being around people and clearly loves companionship. Louis has such a wonderful balance of playful and calm. He’s fun and silly without being overwhelming, and he brings this happy energy everywhere he goes. He is going to make such a loving companion and best friend for a very lucky family. https://adopt.animalsfirst.com/animal/62cc8e128b02916730334440/69f8d03bf76e70a675087a12 Questions? Story
Noelle is pure puppy happiness wrapped up into one tiny, goofy little girl. She is around five months old and already has such a lovable personality that people fall for her immediately. She has this bright, cheerful energy that fills the room without ever being too much. She’s playful and silly in the sweetest way and somehow turns every single moment into something entertaining. She absolutely loves toys and can spend forever happily bouncing around with one, tossing it in the air, chasing it, and proudly carrying it around afterward like she accomplished something incredible. Watching her play is impossible not to laugh at because she is so animated and dramatic in the cutest puppy way. She especially loves playing with other dogs and gets so excited anytime she has a friend to wrestle and hop around with. Watch her YouTube video now https://youtu.be/YXPibXE5m0Y?si=Ybl5pGECRV5qDk_K Noelle is also incredibly affectionate. She loves being pet and cuddled and has such a soft, loving personality underneath all her goofy puppy antics. She is the kind of puppy who wants to curl up close after playtime and soak up every bit of affection she can get. She loves attention and gives so much sweetness back in return. One of the best things about Noelle is how naturally happy she is. She wakes up excited for life every single day. Whether she’s exploring a room, playing with a toy, following people around, or snuggling up for naps, she does everything with this joyful little spirit that makes her impossible not to love. She is going to make such a fun, loving companion for a very lucky family. Her foster says "She hasn’t had an accident in the house. She also understands boundaries with my cats and my elder dog- I can definitely say she will be great even for folks in an apartment since she hardly barks." https://adopt.animalsfirst.com/animal/62cc8e128b02916730334440/69f8d0800712da17190a5877 Questions?
