Story
Meet Summer, a two-and-a-half-month-old Doxie/Pit mix weighing 7 pounds.Summer is a sweet little puppy with short legs, a big heart, and an even bigger love for people. She was found on the side of a highway in an overheated tote alongside another dog tied to it. A kind person initially brought them in, and while we were full at the time, we provided resources to help get them safe with other rescues. Sadly, they were later discovered dumped at a park—but Summer hasn’t let her rough start dim her loving spirit.Despite everything she’s been through, Summer is incredibly friendly and affectionate. She absolutely adores people, gives the most amazing kisses, and believes snuggle time is a full-time job. She’s happiest when she’s close to someone, soaking up attention and returning it with endless sweetness.Summer is looking for a safe, loving home where she will never have to worry again. In return, she promises to be your constant cuddle buddy, your little shadow, and your daily reminder that love can heal.If you’re searching for a gentle, affectionate puppy who lives for snuggles, Summer is ready to bring warmth and joy into your life. This pet is available for adoption on 6/25/2026 3:34 PM at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center. Story
Meet sweet boy Elio! He was born 4/4/23 and is a Chiweenie (Chihuahua Dachshund mix).He is crate trained and sleeps beside his foster parents' bed at night. He is potty trained but will use a potty pad as a back up. Elio is very timid and can pee a bit when scared - he's seeking a home where he can build is confidence. Elio is a vocal boy who can be expressive when he gets excited. Elio rides in a carrier in a car and does just fine. He gets along great with other dogs and has not been around cats. His best fit home would be one with a securely fenced yard and a family that doesn’t leave him alone for long periods of time. Elio can be nippy if a person puts their face right up into there’s so if there are kids in the home, older ones are preferred who are respectful and gentle with a small dog like Elio (he weighs about 10-12 pounds). Elio would do great with a canine sibling of similar size and energy level however, he'd also thrive as an only dog being his person or family's #1. Applications: www.mikeyschance.com
