Story
Meet GunnarGunnar is a 5-year-old black and white bulldog mix who has been available for adoption since January 3, 2025. He has patiently waited a year and a half to find his special person. No dog should have to spend that long in a shelter, with less than an hour a day outside of their kennel. Gunnar sadly marked his one-year shelter anniversary this past January, and he’s more than ready to finally have a home of his own.Gunnar LOVES going for walks and has excellent leash manners. The moment he hears the word “walk,” he runs straight to the door with excitement! He also did fantastic on his Doggy Day Out and scored all A’s.This handsome guy is:• House trained• Crate trained• Knows how to sit for treats• Loyal and eager to be your sidekickGunnar is dog selective, so a proper introduction with other dogs would be important. What he really wants most is a best friend to love and adventure with.Could that be you?

Koda’s Compatibility:Dogs - Has done well in group play and enjoys playing outside the homeCats - I prefer a feline free home!Kids - Yes, 14+Koda’s world changed in an instant. He had been a happy, playful dog, but after losing his family’s beloved mom, he seemed to lose a piece of himself, too. Now, as his family faces another transition, Koda is looking for a home where he can find his spark again.Koda is an independent, intelligent dog who enjoys toys, exploring, and spending time with the people he loves. He’s done well in doggy daycare and group play, and he prefers slow introductions to new dogs. He’s fully house-trained, not destructive, and prefers a quiet, predictable home where he can simply relax. He’s still grieving, but with the right person, we know he’ll find happiness again.Koda is a deeply loyal dog, and because of that, he’s cautious with new people. He just needs a little time and some gentle encouragement. His family has described him as a dog who loves in his own way - he’ll happily keep himself entertained but will also check in for playtime or affection, just to remind you he’s there.Koda lost someone he loved, but he still has so much love left to give. If you have room in your heart for a dog who needs time to heal, he’s ready to meet you.

Story
Otis`s Compatibility:Dogs - Has enjoyed playing with other dogs!Cats - TBDKids - Best with kids around 8 and upOtis is an 11-year-old coonhound mix with a whole lot of good years ahead of him. He`s been loved his whole life, and it shows. He`s the kind of dog who knows how to just be. Housebroken and well-behaved when spending the day home alone, he doesn`t need constant entertainment to be happy. Give him a noisy toy, a treat, and a bed with the sun hitting it just right and he is one content guy.He walks well on leash and has a history of playing nicely with other dogs. Otis has lived with kids and done well, though we think he`d thrive most with children around 8 and up. A dog this easygoing and well loved doesn`t need much to be happy. He`s settled, he`s sweet, and he already knows how to be part of a family. He just needs a new one.As part of Dr. Roth`s Frosted Faces Program, Otis`s adoption fee is waived and he goes home with a senior blood panel, dental work if needed, a two month supply of Senior Cosequin, and a brand new orthopedic bed. We think he`s earned it.He`s been a good boy his whole life, and his next chapter is waiting. Meet Otis at HSHC today!
