Story
We picked up Franklin (Pickle) from the local animal shelter at 8 weeks old. He is currently about 16 weeks old and growing. He would flourish at a home with a yard or a family that is active. He is very energetic and excited about everything. He is very playful around other dogs but tends to get a little too excited. He loves to jump around and will follow you at every opportunity. He is a loving dog that deserves the best.

Story
Meet Atlas! This guy ended up with Helping Paws after not adjusting well to life with the addition of a baby to the family. He is a very sweet and sensitive boy and can get easily spooked by kiddos that move too quickly. But he is currently in a foster home with older children and is doing great! He also came to us very nervous of men, but has gotten MUCH better since first arriving and gaining more confidence. He has the best tail wag where all of his butt wiggles and it will melt anyone's heart! Atlas knows a lot of commands and is pretty good listener since all he wants to do his please his people :) He is housetrained and crate trained as well. He does ok in car, but it isn't his favorite thing. He also is doing well working on his leash training. Atlas needs a little bit to warm up to new dogs (again, it's just a lack of confidence with him), but once he does, he loves to run and play! He has become the resident puppy babysitter in his foster home and loves to run around with a toy so the puppies chase him! He can sometimes guard his toys with other animals, but we are working on correcting that as well and he's doing great. He did live with cats previously and currently has cats in his foster home, although he sometimes gets a little too interested in them so a dog savvy cat or no cats would probably best. Atlas' adoption fee is $250 and he comes vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped. He is also heartworm negative and is current on heartworm and flea/tick prevention. Story
My name is Ricky and I'm a 9 month old male Dalmatian that is housebroken. I'm working on crate training as I don't like my crate However, as cute as I am I do have some things that I need work on. I've only been with my foster for about a month now. Yes I do have a ton of energy and a fenced in yard would be best for me. Ricky does get along with other dogs but needs to time to get to know the dog. He doesn't make friends with other dogs right away. No cats as I want to eat them.  After having Ricky I have also learned that he is leary of new people. We are working on that as well. Basically, he is not a dog that anyone can just come up and pet right away. He has never bitten that I know of though. When he meets new people he barks and growls at first. If you give him a few minutes he warms up though. He has been good with older kids but needs major work on not jumping. Again another thing we are working on with him. I need a lot of training starting with just the basics like leash walking and stuff. I have no leash skills and pull hard. We have not been able to work with him on leash training yet but it's on the list. I know he sounds like a handful but I just know he could become and great companion for someone willing to teach him. If you are viewing this pet's profile on Petfinder or Adopt-a-Pet,.please use the application link at the bottom of the profile to apply. Clicking the "Ask About" button does not submit an application. It only submits a question which will delay an application submission.    All dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations as age appropriate, heartworm tested negative ( puppies age 7 months and older) and microchipped. A puppy's adoption fee is $250.  There is a $5 fee for credit/debit cards. **WE STRONGLY ENCOURAGE YOU TO SUBMIT YOUR APPLICATION WHEN YOU SEE THE PUPPY YOU ARE INTERESTED IN.  DO NOT DELAY YOUR APPLICATION SUBMISSION BY SENDING QUESTIONS REGARDING A PUPPY TO OUR GENERAL EMAIL. IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS WE WILL BE HAPPY TO ANSWER THEM IF WE SHOULD CONTACT YOU ABOUT YOUR APPLICATION. WE RECEIVE SEVERAL APPLICATIONS ON OUR PUPPIES AND WE PROCESS THEM AS QUICKLY AS WE CAN.** If you are interested in adopting one of our dogs, please fill out an online application here: www.heartlandsmallanimalrescue.org/canine-application.html. ##1998754##
