Story
Maggie!? How come a gorgeous girl like you haven't gotten adopted yet? Well - the fact that Maggie is a gorgeous (non-pitbull) dog is part of the problem! Adopters applying for Maggie wants a pretty, fun and easy big dog. But Maggie is infact a full-sized Chihuahua. There is nothing wrong with this sweetheart - she LOVES other dogs, is completely potty trained, healthy, active and fun. Maggie just doesn't want to be touched until you've known each other for QUITE a while. And even then, a snarl might come out of nowhere. She is happy and content at the shelter, but will easily adapt to your household of active dogs and hands-off owners. Been around a grumpy cat before? Chihuahuas? Pekingese? Why do we as a society understand that small dogs can be delicate to handle, yet we require big dogs to allow all handling all the time? Maggie is special, but not overwhelming. She is extremely rewarding to interact with, although touch is not her love language! Included in the adoption fee of $275 is up to date vet care, microchip, vaccines, dewormer. She is spayed and ready for meet and greets! Apply to foster-to-adopt Maggie, we will be there for you the whole way: rebeldogsdetroit.com/applytoadopt

Unfortunately, at this time we are not currently adopting outside of the state of MI. We process applications ONLY - there is no guarantee that you will get a response to an inquiry. MEET NYX: Hello there, my name is Nyx! I am a 3 year old Dalmatian who has had a bit of a rocky journey. Sadly, my first owner surrendered me to an overcrowded shelter, and then I was adopted and later returned a year and a half later because my adopter did not want me anymore. I really enjoy the company of other animals and get along well with other dogs and even dog-savvy kids! I have lived with cats but I sometimes like to play chase, so perhaps a cat-free home would be best. I have a submissive personality and dogs really bring out my happiness. I absolutely love playing with them and having a furry companion to keep me company. As a Dalmatian, I have a calm yet energetic temperament that I'm sure you'll find endearing. Long walks are one of my favorite pastimes, but I also enjoy having the freedom to roam in a secured, fenced yard. Safety is important, so I must mention that using a tether is not permitted for me. This is to ensure my well-being. I prefer not to be alone but I understand my owners will probably have to work in order to spoil me. I am crate trained for my safety during the day when no one is home, when I become bored I have a tendency to chew. That being said, I may bark occasionally if left by myself, so apartments, condos, and mobile homes might not be the best fit for me. When I feel safe and comfortable, I am all about cuddling with my humans. It's my way of showing affection and trust. Car rides are no problem for me, and I am always up for an adventure! However, I am looking for a breed-experienced family who understands the needs and characteristics of a Dalmatian like me. I am eagerly waiting to find my forever family, the one that will provide me with love, care, and a sense of belonging. Are you ready to give me the forever home I deserve? Let's embark on this beautiful journey together!
