Story
Scout is a 4 year old, 80 pound German Shorthaired Pointer who is looking for a family to call his own. He came to us after spending his entire life on a farm, where he enjoyed the best of both worlds as both a house dog and a garage dog. He was originally purchased from a breeder at just 8 weeks old and has grown into a friendly, active companion.
When Scout was young, he attended hunting training, but it quickly became clear that hunting wasn't his passion. Instead, he happily settled into life as a beloved family dog.
Scout has lived successfully with other dogs, cats, kittens, and even goats. The one exception is chickens. He has killed multiple chickens, so he absolutely cannot live in a home with poultry or other free ranging birds.
This handsome boy is e-collar trained and has excellent recall. He was taught the boundaries of his family's farm and respected the property's perimeter well. He enjoys being outdoors, but he also appreciates spending time inside with his people.
Scout loves to play fetch and is happiest when chasing bumpers, retrieving fake ducks, or splashing around in the water. If you're looking for a dog to join you on outdoor adventures, Scout is always ready to go. At the end of the day, one of his favorite things is simply having his ears scratched.
He rides well in the car and is accustomed to traveling in a crate. At night, he sleeps comfortably in his kennel and settles in nicely.
Scout has been fed Next Level Adult Chicken & Rice Formula and has maintained his healthy 80 pound frame on approximately 3 cups of food per meal, according to his previous owner.
Like many dogs adjusting to new routines, Scout has occasional accidents in the house, averaging about two to three per month in his previous home. His new family should be prepared to provide patience, consistency, and a regular potty schedule as he settles into a new environment.
Scout has lived with children since he was young and has always been friendly. However, at 80 pounds, he is a large, enthusiastic dog who doesn't always realize his own size and may accidentally knock over small children or someone who is unsteady on their feet during moments of excitement.
If you're searching for a loyal companion who loves to retrieve, enjoys the outdoors, and has plenty of affection to give, Scout may be the perfect addition to your family.
