Hi there, I'm Zed! I'm almost 4 years old, & weigh 60+ lbs. I'm smart, eager to please, friendly to all the people I meet, & extremely loyal to my family.BUT - I'm not the dog for everyone. I'm a little nervous & insecure, & I need a leader who I know I can trust, as I look to my people to show me how to act. I'm unpredictable around certain other dogs, I have lived with many & been great friends with most, but I can get overwhelmed & try to drive away others. I do best with dogs that let me run things, & I've been amazing with puppies - I am incredibly patient with them. But if I don't know someone's in charge, I can also be leash reactive to strange dogs. I'm fine with cats, & even chickens! Young children who aren't dog savvy can push my boundaries, & that's not good for me. I probably do best with kids over 10. I'm not a first-time dog owner, nor am I an apartment dog.Now here's all the good stuff. I'm 100% house trained, crate trained & leash trained. I share toys & treats and all my favorite things easily. I don't chew anything I'm not supposed to. With a leader I trust (men are my favorite), I learn quickly, & listen to what you say. I love car rides too! Fetch is one of my favorite games, although I'm good at entertaining myself too. And this past summer I learned that I like the water, at least I like dipping in the puppy pool. I'm incredibly observant, & notice everything, so my foster mom always feels safe when she's out walking me by herself. But I also adore my foster dad & would make a great ride-or-die buddy for an empty-nest couple or person.My perfect home would be a place where I can be the center of attention, get plenty of walks & fun, & be understood for who I am. Amira is a goofy girl who absolutely loves her people! She’s happiest when she’s right by your side—whether you’re doing chores around the house or settling in for a movie night, she’ll be there keeping you company. Amira does great with other dogs and kids, and she loves playing tug-of-war with her dog friends or proudly carrying a stuffy around like it’s her prized possession. Food is definitely one of her favorite things! When it’s time to eat, she gets so excited she’ll bounce all the way to her kennel like a little bucking bronco. She knows how to sit, and when you ask her to “down,” she’ll happily flop right onto her back. Amira walks on a leash and does well, though she can occasionally get nervous and put on the brakes—but a few treats and some encouragement get her moving again. She’s ready for her forever home and would do great as an only dog or with canine siblings. Amira is just looking for a family to love—and to stick close to forever. Local adoption fee is $200(in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $450 (includes transport your area)

🐾 Meet Atlas – Our Longest-Waiting Adventurer 🐾 Atlas is a 4-year-old Catahoula mix who has been in the rescue program for almost 4 years, and we truly don’t understand how this incredible dog is still waiting for his forever home. Atlas is great with other dogs and enjoys having canine friends. He is cat-friendly, but he can be a bit much for them since he always wants to play—so he’d do best in a cat-free home or one with a very tolerant, confident cat. This guy is active, athletic, and always ready for an adventure. Walks, outings, and staying busy are his jam, so he’ll need an active family who can keep up with his enthusiasm for life. Atlas does have some separation anxiety, but it is very manageable and continues to improve with routine and structure. And here’s the really cool part—Atlas has competed in THREE OneWorld Canine Biathlons and absolutely crushed it, even placing 2nd in one of his races! 🏅 This dog has both brains and brawn. 📍 Fostered in Huntsville, AL 🐶 Good with dogs 🐱 Cats with conditions 🏃 Adventure-ready & athletic Atlas has waited long enough.
