Story
Meet Luke – Our Senior Sweetheart! 🐾 Luke may have a salt-and-pepper face, but his heart is pure gold. This gentle 10-year-old Catahoula Leopard Dog has made the long trip from out of state in hopes of finally finding a soft spot to land — a calm, loving home where he can kick back, soak up the sunshine, and enjoy his golden years in peace. Luke is all about the simple things: quiet strolls, cozy naps, and the occasional belly rub (okay, frequent belly rubs). He’s got that wise old soul energy that makes you instantly feel at ease in his presence. Whether he's lounging by your feet or giving you those big, soulful eyes, Luke has a way of making every moment feel special. After spending far too long in the shelter system, Luke is more than ready to leave kennel life behind and trade it for the comforts of home — maybe yours? If you're looking for a loyal companion who’s low-key, loving, and full of heart, Luke might just be your perfect match. Let’s give this senior the golden retirement he deserves. 💛

Story
Here is what the foster has to say! “ We have fostered Santa Flash since he was returned to BTR through no fault of his own. He is ridiculously affectionate to family and to people he knows. He plays hard, and he sleeps harder. He learns quickly and adjusts to new routines (like being on vaction) easily. He is house trained crate trained (see below for details) sleeps through the night dog friendly (see below for details) walks nicely on a leash rides nicely in the car treat motivated We put him in the crate for a few hours during the day, even when we’re home. He was crated while his original adopter worked, and we have continued that routine so he is used to being crated. He also sleeps in his crate at night. He would be fine sleeping in our room, but since we often have the 4 family dogs in our room, he’s in his crate. He definitely sees his crate as a safe space, and often goes there on his own. We have traveled with him, and having his crate with us made it easy for him to adjust to new environments. When we’re not in the home, he is always crated—he will pick up pencils and socks. He likes other dogs, but not all other dogs like him. Of our family dogs, 2 like him a lot, and the other 2 really don’t. When we were on vacation, he was boarded with a trainer, and he got along fine with her dogs. He is shy of strangers, so slow introductions are important. We have a routine when new people come over, which works really well. Sometimes, if a visit is going to be quick or it’s a worker, we just have him go in his crate, and he’s always content there. If you’re looking for a dog to go to brewpubs with and you have lots of company frequently, he’s not the right dog for you. But if you are willing to take things at his pace, he will be very loving with friends. Although he likes children, he startles easily, so he is not a good fit for a home with small kids. He is not a barker most of the time, but he does like to look out the window, and occasionally will bark when people walk by. He will usually bark when people walk up to the house. He’s easy to please—he likes all toys, all dog friendly fruits and vegetables, nylabones, and ice cubes. Flash has so much love to give, and some lucky family is going to be lucky enough to receive it all.”
