Story
Albie is a chill 11-12 year old senior looking for his new home. He spends most of his day napping and when the sun is out, looks for spots to sunbathe. He came to us from a shelter when he was estimated to be 1 year old with most of his habits already developed. He is food motivated and protects his food. He does not play with toys and not interested in a toy unless food is involved. He is not very active and loves to be petted every now and then. Unfortunately, with our life changes we are unable to give him the attention he needs and deserves. He is fine at the vet but hates the groomers so you will need to be able to groom him yourself or find a groomer that will work with anxious dogs. He is potty trained, but because he is getting older, he does have occasional accidents, especially when he is excited. He knows basic commands such as sit, down, and paw. He prefers to lounge indoors and does not pay much attention to other pets or kids unless they take his food.

Story
Meet Sassy, a Lhasa Apso with a lamb-sized personality packed into a pint-sized pooch! She's a spunky gal who loves the great outdoors and is almost as potty trained as she is playful. However, she had a slight detour on the road to perfect potty etiquette when her foster sister, Shirley, came along-but they're working it out, one paw at a time! Sassy is a leash-in-training star who dreams of exploring the world one sniff at a time. Toys? Oh, she's a connoisseur, with a particular fondness for her beloved Lambchop. This little lady is all about the cuddles and has a special spot reserved right next to her favorite human. She's a social butterfly, loving everyone she meets, turning walks into meet-and-greets. If you're looking for a companion who's all sass and all class-with a heart as fuzzy as her coat-let Sassy strut into your life and heart. Just be prepared for the toy tornado! Come meet her at Little Dog Rescue, where big personalities come in small packages. * Thank you for your interest in adopting a dog from Little Dog Rescue. Our dogs come from a variety of sources and backgrounds. They are all in need of adopters that have patience, an understanding of where these dogs have come from, and that there will be an adjustment time when they transition into their forever home. This can include learning basic commands, walking on leash and potty training. Some dogs will pick up on your routine and expectations faster than others. Potty accidents will happen. We find that positive reinforcement, consistency, and routine from the adopter achieves the best results. We are a small, all volunteers team and give 100% of our efforts towards doing right by these pups. We are often juggling many responsibilities at the same time and do our very best to process inquiries and applications in a timely manner. We do prioritize inquiries that have a submitted application on file through the Little Dog Rescue website. We do our best to accurately assign breed designations, however we are unable to guarantee 100% accuracy. Sometimes we only have the dogs appearance to go on. Our adoption fees are thoughtfully considered. The adoption fee is not a purchase price for the dog. It is a fee that is designed to support the overall work of our rescue. Highly desirable dogs and puppies are intentionally listed with a higher adoption fee. This is done to help offset the enormous medical expenses we incur when taking in older pups and special needs medical dogs whose adoption fees do not come close to covering their expenses. In addition, the vast majority of our dogs are brought in from out of state and incur transport fees along with their medical and acquisition costs. We ask that you take all of these things into consideration, and we look forward to finding a great match for your family.

Story
Introducing Opal, affectionately known as Smiley by those who've just met her! Opal arrived with a grin that could light up a room and tail wags that could start a breeze. At first, she might seem a bit shy, but don't let her timid nature fool you; she's just a gem polishing her trust in humans. Opal is a yard-explorer extraordinaire, bounding with joy and an eagerness for adventure. She's not just looking for a home, she's seeking a heart connection. With every step, she leaves a sparkle of happiness, though she prefers to set the pace for getting to know her human friends. Her skills include stair-climbing, though couch-jumping is still in the negotiation phase (perhaps to your relief!). She's mastered the art of the nap, rotating between dog beds as if reviewing them for a five-star rating. House training is on her list, and she's proving to be a quick learner, with the patience of a saint when nature calls-just no audiences, please! Opal gets along splendidly with other dogs, making friends and fitting in without a fuss. While her feelings about cats remain a mystery, she's an open book when it comes to loving her human. At the end of the day, Opal loves nothing more than a gentle petting session in her bed-her comfort zone where every touch reassures her that she's safe and loved. Are you the forever home that Opal is dreaming of? Come meet her and let her smile steal your heart away! Remember, diamonds are formed under pressure, but Opal just needs love to truly shine. * Thank you for your interest in adopting a dog from Little Dog Rescue.
