Story
Meet Cygnet 🖤🐾 | 4-Month-Old Mixed Breed Puppy | 25 lbs Just a few weeks ago, Cygnet and her sisters were dumped and left for dead in a rural community. Thankfully, Melissa’s Second Chances stepped in to give these girls the future they always deserved. Now, Cygnet is discovering what it means to be safe, loved, and part of a family—and watching her confidence grow has been nothing short of incredible. At around 4 months old and 25 pounds, Cygnet is expected to be a large-breed dog, though we don’t know anything about her parents. What we do know is that she has the sweetest, gentlest heart. Cygnet can be a little shy when meeting new people or experiencing new places, but she warms up quickly once she realizes she’s safe. Every day in foster care she’s becoming more confident, more curious, and a little more independent. She absolutely loves having another dog around and has formed a sweet bond with her foster sister. Their play style is gentle and calm, usually wrestling around on the dog bed instead of racing through the house. She would likely enjoy a confident canine companion to help continue building her confidence, though it’s not required. For such a young puppy, Cygnet is already impressing everyone. She sleeps through the entire night in her crate, is doing fantastic with potty training, and hasn’t had any accidents in her foster home outside of a possible nervous tinkle in brand-new situations 🤭. She’s also been trustworthy when left to free roam a few puppy-proofed rooms with her foster siblings and hasn’t been destructive. Like many puppies who haven’t experienced much of the world, new experiences come from time in a loving foster. After just a few days, she's learned that car rides aren't scary, and that they lead to fun places like the pet store! She now jumps happily into the car and sits politely during the ride! When left alone, she may get a little nervous, but she’s making wonderful progress and is learning that her people always come back. Cygnet is the kind of puppy who will blossom with patience, encouragement, and love. Watching her personality unfold has been so rewarding, and her future family will get to experience that same joy as she continues growing into a confident, loyal companion. Cygnet is looking for: * 🖤 A loving adopter willing to help her continue building confidence * 🐶 A friendly dog companion would be a wonderful bonus, but not required * 🏡 A home committed to raising a large-breed puppy * 💕 A family ready to give this sweet girl the second chance she’s always deserved After everything she’s been through, Cygnet is finally learning that the world can be a safe and happy place. Now all she needs is a forever family to help her keep believing it. 🐾 ----------------------------------------- If you’re interested in adopting, please apply online at mscrescue.org/adopt. Story
Lucy is a three year old Doberman mix (One parent was pure bred). I adopted her three years ago, but now need to find her a new home. Lucy's Doberman background makes her fiercely loyal, protective and very high energy. She is a very loving dog with her people, but takes time to adjust to strangers especially in her own home. We have a busy household, and this behavior has become an issue for us. Lucy would be great with an owner with experience managing this Doberman-like behavior. She is also a very busy and vigilant dog that is at her best when she has a job to do. If you need a working dog that you can provide structure and support for her to learn, she would be a great fit for you. Lucy is also very food motivated and as such can be easily trained and learns quickly. Her favorite place in the world is the off leash dog park where she can run, play and socialize with other dogs and people. She also loves to snuggle with her people after a long exercise session. Story
Freya is a Doberman/Great Pyrenees mix with a sweet and silly personality. She is incredibly smart, easy to train, and very loyal to the people she loves. She loves long walks, camping, and basking in the sun during the summertime. She would do very well with an active owner as she is a big girl with a lot of energy. She is very loving, and despite her size, she is a great snuggler. Freya will thrive in a home where she is the only pet and gets lots of exercise.Freya struggles with resource guarding around other dogs in her home. We have an older dog that we had before Freya and we are at a point where she is instigating fights with him when he gets too close to her toys or her space. She is stronger than him and has injured him a few times, and this is why we are choosing to rehome her. She does great at doggy daycare, boarding, and even with other dogs out at the lake. This issue seems to be strictly within her own space, and we think she would do best as the only dog in the home.

Freya is a 4 year old, 100 pound, Great Pyrenees/Doberman mix with a sweet and silly personality. She is incredibly smart, easy to train, and very loyal to the people she loves. She loves long walks, camping, and basking in the sun during the summertime. She would do very well with an active owner as she is a big girl with a lot of energy. She is very loving, and despite her size, she is a great snuggler. Freya will thrive in a home where she is the only pet and gets lots of exercise. She currently has a fenced in yard, so that would be preferred, but as long as she is getting sufficient exercise she will be just fine without. Freya is house trained, kennel trained, spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and up to date on flea and tick prevention. Freya cannot live with another dog due to her resource guarding, but she does well socially with other dogs. She has less patience for puppies or dogs who jump around close to her face, but she plays well with dogs who match her energy. She does very well at doggy daycare and boarding. Freya will not be suitable for a home with cats or small animals that roam. She has never lived with children, but any time she has interacted with kids, she has been sweet and gentle. Freya has a recessed vulva which results in incontinence and makes her more susceptible to UTIs. She has been on Proin daily since she was a puppy and has not had a single accident since being on this medication.
