Story
Angela is a 56-pound Doberman with a gentle heart, soulful eyes, and a sweet personality that shines brighter every day. While she can be a little timid when meeting new people or experiencing new situations, it doesn't take long to see what a special dog she truly is.This lovely girl is still learning that she's safe and loved, and every day her confidence continues to grow. Angela has a strong desire to please her people and absolutely adores affection. In fact, being petted might be her favorite thing in the world. Once she trusts you, she'll happily soak up all the love and attention you're willing to give.Angela gets along wonderfully with other dogs and has done well with cats. She is also kid-friendly, making her a great candidate for many different types of families. Her foster describes her as an easygoing, sweet companion who is perfectly content spending time with her people but also has an independent side. One of her endearing quirks is that she often chooses to sleep by herself in the living room, even though she has access to the entire house. She is crate trained, potty trained, and settles nicely when left alone. Angela knows "sit" when treats are involved and responds well to "no" when she gets a little vocal. Like many dogs, she's still working on a few things, including resisting the temptation to beg when people are eating, but she's eager to learn and responds well to gentle guidance.Angela has a moderate activity level and would thrive in a home that can continue building her confidence through patience, structure, and positive reinforcement. While she has made tremendous progress, she will benefit from a family that understands that trust takes time and that the strongest bonds are often the ones worth waiting for.During her spay surgery, a very mild heart murmur (Grade 2/6) was noted. She is not showing any symptoms and currently requires no treatment. Adopters should simply continue monitoring it through routine veterinary care. Our adoption process includes an application review, interview, home check, and a meet-and-greet. All dogs in the household must be present at the meet-and-greet. Renters are required to provide proof that dogs are permitted under their lease. All adopters agree to complete a training course with a certified positive reinforcement trainer. Before adoption, all Boxers and Buddies dogs are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations, and microchipped. Each dog is fostered in a home environment where they are treated like family while building socialization skills. We require professional obedience training from a certified trainer for ALL adoptions.
