Story
Canela is a lovely 9 year old lady being rehomed because her family is moving to an apartment where Dobermans are on the restricted breed list. Canela has good house manners, enjoys car rides and digging (a girl is never too old for a little gardening). She is very calm and obedient. She is a little leery of men, not aggressive, but will warm up. NO cats or small dogs, please. Canela is not fond of small kiddos but will do well with older, respectful children. She will run and hide if voices are raised. Please, do you have a place in your family for this deserving Doberman to spend her golden years? A $200 adoption fee applies. Please go to http://www.dobermanrescuenm.org and complete an application.

Needs experienced adopter, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Seven year old Nadia is a special girl, rescued from Roswell five and a half years ago, and obviously having been abused. Nadia was in a family with three female dogs but once the senior girl passed away, Nadia and the other resident female started to fight. Nadia needs to be the only female in the household but she does get along with other dogs when away from home. She does well with older children and cats. She enjoys riding in the car and playing in water. She is housebroken but freaks out when crated. Nadia has been through basic obedience training and does well on a leash. She is fine on the trail with other dogs and people. She is well behaved when out in public. She sleeps on a dog bed on the floor next to her owners' bed. She is an inside dog and is fine in the house for 8 hours a day. Storms and fireworks upset her - she will pace around the bed all night or sleep in-between her owners. Nadia is a good, healthy girl. She is fine in the house with her people but is protective of her home, her people and her yard. We are looking for a Doberman savvy family for Nadia. She will do best as an only dog or with a carefully selected male friend. She is a petite Doberman weighing in at 50 lbs. A $200 adoption fee applies. Please complete an application @ www.dobermanrescuenm.org.

Story
Sweet Lady is a gentle and kind eight-year-old girl that is a New Mexico native. She moved up to Colorado to get some much-needed love, and is being rehomed because the small dogs in the household do not get along with Lady. She needs to be the only dog in the household. She enjoys laying on the couch with you while you watch a movie or laying at your feet when you are reading a book. Lady is always ready for pets and cuddles. She sleeps on a dog bed on the floor next to her owners’ bed. She also loves to sunbathe outside, and enjoys voicing her presence every once in a while. Other dogs scare her so she’d rather take a long nap than go for a walk where she might run into any. She is used to using a dog door or being let out and she has free roam of the house during the day. Lady has some bumps and lumps but who doesn’t with age? She is exceptionally well-behaved, knowing commands such as sit, stay, watch, and down. She is very much attached to her humans and is happiest and at peace when she gets to spend time with you. A $200 adoption fee applies. Please complete application at www.dobermanrescuenm.org

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Beau was found as a stray in October with two broken hind legs. The shelter vet performed surgery and after a short recuperation period, Beau came to DRNM early this year. Our ortho specialist did not recommend another surgery but suggested Beau undergo Physical Therapy. We were fortunate to have him scheduled to start March 6th. This can be a lengthy and expensive but this playful, happy boy deserves everything we can do to make the rest of his life pain-free. He is a handsome, all natural blue Doberman. We guess his age is a little over a year old. Beau is smart and so loving, housebroken and crate trained. This is one big puppy, so sweet and playful. Beau is available for adoption or a foster-to-adopt, while he goes through his PT, which will include exercises at home after his appointments. You may apply at http://www.dobermanrescuenm.org. A $300 adoption fee applies.

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Zoe is an all natural, three year old. She is sweet, playful and a loving girl. She enjoys toys, playing in the water and car rides. She gets along with respectful, older children. Zoe is a people dog - she likes to sit on the couch with her person and watch TV. She is housebroken, knows how to use the doggy door and crate trained. Zoe is trained in basic verbal commands. She loves to go for walks but the use of a prong or tension collar is suggested, as she will pull without it. Zoe does resource guard and will take ALL the toys from the other resident dogs and hide them in her crate. She is also protective of her food / eating space. Zoe is sensitive to doorbells. She will react to hearing one on television, will bark very loud and rush the door if she’s loose in the house. This behavior can change with training and consistency. Zoe has been re-homed several times in her short life and has struggled to get along with other dogs in previous placements as she has a strong alpha personality. She does not like a lot of chaos going on around her. She prefers order and organization. Zoe will be an excellent only dog. If a new dog is introduced into her home, the owners will need to be on hand for constant supervision for the first few months. And, she needs a crate / space to be able to retreat / get away from the other dog. A $300 adoption fee applies. Please go to http://www.dobermanrescuenm.org and complete an application!

Story
My brother and I were found abandoned out on the mesa in Valencia county taking shelter from the heat under a old couch.  We were very fearful and have slowly been gaining confidence and starting to trust people again.  We will need a patient, loving family to help us come out of our shell and become happy, loving puppies again.  Our adoption fee is $225 and covers our Parvo/Distemper Combo series, Rabies vaccination, Neuter, microchip and Flex 4 test.   UPDATE:  Rusty is a wonderful, well behaved dog that loves to travel and go places.  He is crate trained, is working on his basic commands and is very smart and loving. 07 16 22 - 1 Combo vaccination & deworm 08 10 22 - 2nd Combo vaccination, microchip & deworm 09 13 22 - 3rd Combo vaccination & deworm 09 15 22 - Rabies vaccination, neuter and Flex 4 test, (Heartworm, Lyme, Ehrlichia, Anaplasmosis) (Negative/Negative/Negative, Negative) ##1530799##

Mazi is on the reserved side and needs time to adjust in a new situation.  She will need to bulid trust and will bond with her one person.  She loves to play with other dogs her own size and gets along with toys breeds.  She has a high prey drive therefore not good with outdoor cats.  She would be okay with an indoor cat that is dog savvy. She would make an excellent walking buddy and she does not pull on the leash.  Her new owner should have experience with the Doberman breed, understand their temperment and needs. Mazi would be okay with older children who allow her to approach them by giving her the space she needs to build trust. 05/14/23  Spayed, 1 yr. Rabies, Flex 4 Test (Heartworm, Lyme, Ehrlichia, Anaplasmosis ) (Negative/Negative/Negative/Negative) & DAPP 1 yr.  ##1722718##

Story
Jasper here... I'm a good guy looking for a place to land... my name means "keeper of the treasure" and you could hit the jackpot with me! They listed me as a special needs because I am missing an eye and I have an under bite but neither slows me down. I'm a big guy and will do well with a large yard / property. I would love to attend a training course with my family too so we can learn from each other. I am being fostered with other canines and so far all is good as long as we take it slow with introductions and supervision. Best with kids 15 years and older. https://highdesertdobermanrescue.org/adoption-application Belen NM 87002
