This lovely girl has an auto immune condition called Masticatory Myositis and takes a pill for it every other day. Story
Beowulf is a 7 year old blue male with a docked tail and natural ears. He was adopted as a puppy by an experienced and loving owner, who through family circumstances must find a safer place for Beowulf. A new baby has joined his family and although he loves the baby, the combination of changes to his routine and the unpredictable nature of small children has caused problems. Both Beowulf and that baby are safe and in no hurry to part from one another, but it is clear that restrictions that have to be in place are affecting Beowulf's quality of life. Beowulf is on hypothyroid medication as well as anti-anxiety medication, which has proven to be helpful given his level of reactive anxiety. His medication costs are about 60$ per month with 3-4 medications given routinely and should be followed by a veterinarian experienced with these meds. With that in mind, Beowulf loves people and shows typical Doberman affection of following you everywhere and wanting to snuggle at any opportunity. He currently lives with 2 cats, a German Shepherd and a young Great Dane. Although he plays with the Dane, he can get overstimulated and a little sharp when that happens. Things that set Beowulf off are unexpected noises or disturbances, including people showing up unexpectedly or anything he doesn't expect that surprises him. Walks in places like a city or town can be disturbing due to other dogs coming around a corner in close proximity or something like a trash truck driving nearby. It takes time for Beowulf to process new stimuli and he will need a patient forward-looking person to help guide him in the future. He depends heavily on his people for reassurance and guidance so a patient understanding of his needs is a must. He does best with predictable routines. Beowulf is looking for a special needs experienced home with no other animals or mature, calm animals that will give him space to settle. Due to his anxiety, his owner has had him extensively trained and he is crate-trained and very well-mannered. He loves to learn and knows several advanced tricks like high-five, and roll over. He is a wonderful companion with a lot to give and a very sweet nature that requires love and understanding. Anyone who meets Beowulf will see that the love will come back their way 100 times over. A $250 adoption fee applies. Please go to http://www.dobermanrescuenm.org and complete an application for this sweet boy.

Story
Dexter was left behind when his owner moved away last year. The new resident took him in but can no longer care for him as they just had a new baby. They guess he is about one year old. Dexter gets along with other dogs and cats, likes older children and people. He is a playful boy and likes to show you his toys but will not give them to you! He is an affectionate boy and enjoys receiving attention. He is a sweetheart and a wonderful dog with a goofy personality. He is crate trained and housebroken. He was distrustful and depressed after his first owners left him alone and he may have some separation anxiety. A doggy companion and loving family will make all the difference for this boy. A $300 adoption fee applies.

FOSTER OR ADOPTER NEEDED! Two-year old Baby's original owners couldn’t keep her anymore so she was left outside all day and only let in if it was cold. A kind family took her in, temporarily, to give her a better life and are hoping we can help Baby find a forever family! Baby likes playing with other (large) dogs but they have discovered she is not fond of small dogs (she lived with a nasty small dog with her previous owner). She is protective of her bed, as aforementioned nasty little dog would steal hers. Baby is housebroken and crate trained. She tolerates older, respectful children. She has not been exposed to cats. Please go to http://www.dobermanrescuenm.org and complete an application!

*** FOSTER NEEDED***  Dobie is in dire need of a foster home - If you can step up to help this wonderful dog, please fill out a foster application and I will be in touch with you.   https://www.hartnm.com/volunteer  Thank you!!  Be prepared to fall in love! Dobie is a very sweet boy who is looking for his forever family.  He loves the great outdoors and would do well having space to run and play.  He is somewhat of an escape artist but usually doesn't stray far.  He does have separation anxiety and has learned kennel up.  He enjoys being rewarded with a walk.   He would do best with a family who is home most of the time, that can show him the love and security he needs through positive reinforcement training.  He walks nicely on a leash and enjoys his daily walks.  He’s not a barker, he gets along with other cats and dogs, is house trained and knows how to use a doggy door.  He loves everyone he meets, does not jump up and waits patiently to be petted.  He’s a real love bug!! 02/23/24 - Neuter, Rabies 1yr., DAPP 1yr., Flex 4 Test (Negative) ##1975326##

Jasper here... I'm a good guy looking for a place to land... my name means "keeper of the treasure" and you could hit the jackpot with me! They listed me as a special needs because I am missing an eye and I have an under bite but neither slows me down. I'm a big guy and will do well with a large yard / property. I would love to attend a training course with my family too so we can learn from each other. I am being fostered with other canines and so far all is good as long as we take it slow with introductions and supervision. Best with kids 15 years and older. https://highdesertdobermanrescue.org/adoption-application Belen NM 87002

Since I am so big and strong... kids>12 years of age Fully vetted soon and ready for a home, family and love.
