Dancer is a lovely Dobie mix about 2 years old. This beautiful girl is loving, playful with some good household manners. Not perfect manners because she is still puppyish and will counter surf if not supervised. Dancer has been good with the other dogs in her foster home including the 17 year old miniature Poodle in the home. She is crate trained and needs leash work but is very motivated to please. This lovely girl has an auto immune condition called Masticatory Myositis and takes a pill for it every other day. Read about this condition at this link: https://www.petmd.com/dog/conditions/immune/masticatory-myositis-dogs. A $250 adoption fee applies. Story
Beowulf is a 7 year old blue male with a docked tail and natural ears. He was adopted as a puppy by an experienced and loving owner, who through family circumstances must find a safer place for Beowulf. A new baby has joined his family and although he loves the baby, the combination of changes to his routine and the unpredictable nature of small children has caused problems. Both Beowulf and that baby are safe and in no hurry to part from one another, but it is clear that restrictions that have to be in place are affecting Beowulf's quality of life. Beowulf is on hypothyroid medication as well as anti-anxiety medication, which has proven to be helpful given his level of reactive anxiety. His medication costs are about 60$ per month with 3-4 medications given routinely and should be followed by a veterinarian experienced with these meds. With that in mind, Beowulf loves people and shows typical Doberman affection of following you everywhere and wanting to snuggle at any opportunity. He currently lives with 2 cats, a German Shepherd and a young Great Dane. Although he plays with the Dane, he can get overstimulated and a little sharp when that happens. Things that set Beowulf off are unexpected noises or disturbances, including people showing up unexpectedly or anything he doesn't expect that surprises him. Walks in places like a city or town can be disturbing due to other dogs coming around a corner in close proximity or something like a trash truck driving nearby. It takes time for Beowulf to process new stimuli and he will need a patient forward-looking person to help guide him in the future. He depends heavily on his people for reassurance and guidance so a patient understanding of his needs is a must. He does best with predictable routines. Beowulf is looking for a special needs experienced home with no other animals or mature, calm animals that will give him space to settle. Due to his anxiety, his owner has had him extensively trained and he is crate-trained and very well-mannered. He loves to learn and knows several advanced tricks like high-five, and roll over. He is a wonderful companion with a lot to give and a very sweet nature that requires love and understanding. Anyone who meets Beowulf will see that the love will come back their way 100 times over. A $250 adoption fee applies. Please go to http://www.dobermanrescuenm.org and complete an application for this sweet boy.

Story
** FOSTER (or adopter!) NEEDED ** Emily is a two-year-old girl, found as a stray south of Albuquerque. She was shut down and traumatized at first but is coming out of her shell and proving to be a sweet girl. She gets along with older children, does fine with other dogs and appears to be cat friendly. Emily will need a 6′ fence as she is capable of climbing anything lower. We suspect she was kept as an 'outside' dog so would seek to escape the yard.. A loving family would change all that! Please consider opening your home to this deserving girl and fill out an application @ www.dobermanrescuenm.org. A $300 adoption fee applies.

Penny is an all natural, 5 year old Doberman mix. She loves to cuddle, chase birds, go on walks, and play in lakes and rivers. She has a few dog friends, but needs some time to get to know them. She's nervous around cars, and likes to listen to gangster rap to calm down. She has not been around cats but she has a prey drive with small animals. Penny sees lots of kids at NMAF's foster clinic and loves them. No aggression toward people at all, except the mailman! A $195 adoption fee applies. Story
Lizzie is all natural, about 8 months old and is a typical, rambunctious, silly pup. She gets along well with other dogs, and is still a bit timid around strangers. Lizzie was found dumped in a parking lot, along with her sweet brother. A caring family took them in and found a home for her brother but are looking for a loving family for Lizzie. They cannot keep her as they are over the city limit. It is unknown if she gets along with cats but she does fine with older children. Lizzie goes into her crate willingly at bedtime and is housebroken. She spends most of her time in the yard, but does scratch to go out outside. Lizzie is just a baby and deserves to find a loving, forever family. Please complete an application @ http://www.dobermanrescuenm.org! A $300 adoption fee applies.
