Story
One and a half-year old Gretel’s journey hasn’t been easy. She and another Doberman were found dumped in Otero County and picked up as strays. It was obvious she had little to no human contact, but learned how to trust in the warmth of her loving foster home. After six months in foster care, Gretel is feeling more comfortable and gaining self-confidence. She likes older kids, is house broken and crate trained. She walks well on the leash and knows basic obedience. She responds to no, go potty and go poop. She learns very quickly and is good at learning from repeated behaviors. She is highly motivated by treats and frozen Kongs! Gretel is a very wiggly dog and uses her whole body to communicate and play. She is wary of cats and barks at them but is showing improvement. She loves sunbathing and a cozy spot of her own and likes to go to bed early! She is suspicious of strangers but warms up after a few minutes. Gretel needs patience and understanding in her new home and the ability to adjust at her own pace. She prefers a calm household with structure and routine. Lastly, someone who will celebrate her small victories—every step forward is a big deal for this girl! A $300 adoption fee applies. We do not know how she does with children but older kiddos might be okay. Luna is a loving, good girl who needs more attention than her current owner can provide. She is in the Alamogordo area. A $300.00 adoption fee applies. Please complete an application @ http://www.dobermanrescuenm.org.

Story
Ten month old Loki was adopted from a city shelter five months ago and is now being rehomed because the family's work situation changed and frequent travel is required. At the time of adoption, the vet noticed Loki walking awkwardly and upon examination, discovered he had a fractured and dislocated hip. Aside from a slight limp, surgery was successful and he has made a great recovery! Loki loves to play outdoors, playing fetch and loves ice cubes. He is a chow hound and being a puppy, loves to chew. He is housebroken and crate trained. He enjoys car rides and playing in water. He goes on two walks every day but barks when he sees other walkers. Happy go lucky is the best way to describe Loki - he loves roughhousing with the other family dogs and even the cat. He wants to say hi to everyone that comes to the house, but he will bark if alarmed. He attends daycare 1-2 days every week and receives nothing but compliments from the staff. His family was curious about Loki's DNA, so a test was done. This young boy is part Doberman, Great Pyrenees & Lab. Please go to http://www.dobermanrescuenm.org to complete an application for this wonderful dog. An adoption fee of $250 applies.

Story
Nala is a beautiful 2.5 year old, all natural fawn Dobie. The fur on her head feels like satin! This young girl was isolated and did not receive the socialization that Dobermans need, so much so that she freaked out when she first arrived to DRNM. But, after three days her loving, enthusiastic personality came through. The older dogs in her foster home find her puppy-ish energy annoying but she is best buddies with the younger foster boy, Krieger. They play 24/7! This loving girl smiles, crate trained, house trained and is tall enough to counter surf. She is young and very eager to please. She would do great with a male canine friend. She gets along with older, respectful children but has never been exposed to cats. Nala would love an active family who are willing to teach her how to "Doberman". Please go to http://www.dobermanrescuenm.org and complete an application. A $300.00 adoption fee applies.
