Story
Glinda is a beautiful 8-year-old Doberman girl was rescued from euthanasia after arriving at a shelter heartworm positive, when the shelter did not have the resources to provide the treatment she desperately needed. Thanks to Doberman Underground Rescue and the dedicated care she received, Glinda has successfully completed her heartworm treatment and is now ready to begin the next chapter of her life — finding a safe, loving forever home where she can truly relax and thrive. When Glinda first arrived in foster care, her shyness and uncertainty were evident. It took her several days to come out of her shell, but even then, you could see in her eyes that she wanted to trust — she just needed time. Once she feels safe, Glinda’s affectionate and loyal personality shines. She happily comes when called, often with her little nub wagging with excitement. She loves being close to her people and will lay next to you on the couch with her head resting gently on your hand or her nose touching you. If you are standing, she is just as content lying or sitting at your feet to stay connected. Ear scratches, neck rubs, and tummy rubs are some of her absolute favorite things. Glinda enjoys spending time outdoors and is always ready to go outside, no matter the weather — snow and cold included!   Glinda loves playing fetch with the ball in the yard and then is happy to come in the house and will play with a bone quietly by your side.   At night she will lay by yourside on the couch and watch TV with you.  Glinda would thrive in a home that offers a nice balance between relaxed companionship and outdoor activity. A homebody who also enjoys daily leash walks and safe backyard time would be ideal. She will require a securely fenced yard where she can safely explore and play. She shows great interest in neighboring dogs and enjoys fence-line interaction, though she can get excited and eager to chase during play. She is also extremely interested in the scent of a neighbor’s cat shelter, so a cat-free home will be required. Glinda has done well living with the large, male resident Doberman in her foster home. They have settled comfortably together. They stand next to each other, touch noses calmly, and coexist peacefully. Small dogs are not a match.  The resident dog has offered play invitations, which Glinda has shown interest in, but play has been limited due to her heartworm recovery. Glinda can be shy when meeting new people, but she warms up nicely with patience, treats, and gentle affection. Once she feels comfortable, her loving and devoted nature becomes clear. Glinda has overcome so much and is ready to share her heart with a family willing to give her the patience, love, and security she deserves. If you are looking for a loyal companion who will quietly steal your heart and stay by your side, Glinda may be your perfect match. Glinda is available to adopters of all ages.  She is eligible for our Seniors Owning Seniors (SOS) for adopters 70+ with prior Doberman ownership experience.  Visit our website for more information. Story
Meet Chance — and get ready to fall in love! When Chance first came to Doberman Underground Rescue , he weighed just 31 pounds… painfully underweight, with every protruding rib, bone, and sore telling the story of the life he had endured. He looked more like a skeleton than the strong, handsome Doberman he was always meant to be. Once we sprung him from the shelter, Chance got right to work on healing. He started eating like a champ—gaining not only much-needed weight, but also strength, energy, and a little sparkle back in his eyes. Today he has transformed into a beautiful red boy and his personality is shining through. Chance is a sweet, affectionate boy who truly wants to connect with his people. He’s well behaved, knows “sit,” and has been doing great with potty training while thriving on a regular schedule for outdoor breaks. He loves attention and will happily soak up all the love you’re willing to give. He’s also still learning how to simply be a dog. Chance doesn’t fully understand canine social cues yet, so he would do best starting out as an only dog where he can build confidence and continue his training. That said, we do believe he could eventually do well with the right canine companion in the future. He has already shown great progress, especially when around other dogs with a fence between them, and he’s noticeably calmer as he learns. Chance will need a physically fenced yard where he can safely run, play, and continue building his confidence. Because of his need for structure and continued guidance, he’ll need an experienced Doberman owner who has the time and commitment to invest in training, leadership, and consistency. Teenagers should be just fine, though we don’t know how he does with small children. The best part? Beneath it all, Chance has the heart and potential to be the perfect dog.  He just needs someone willing to take a chance on him.  Could that be you? Story
Myra’s story is one of incredible resilience — but what truly defines her is the joyful, loving dog she has become. When Myra first came to us, she had clearly been through more than any dog should experience. Despite that rough start, her spirit never broke. Instead, she showed us just how strong, forgiving, and full of life she truly is. Today, Myra is thriving and embracing everything that comes with finally being able to live like a dog should. Myra is a Doberman / Shepherd mix — the perfect blend of two amazing breeds - with a sprinkle of Golden Retriever for extra sweetness. She has the intelligence, loyalty, and elegance of a Doberman paired with the confidence and versatility of a Shepherd. The result? A smart, affectionate, and engaging young dog who is always ready to be part of whatever her people are doing. This young, active, fun-loving girl is almost a year old now, gaining strength, confidence, and showing more of her personality every day. She’s incredibly friendly, very smart, and eager to learn, which means she’ll do wonderfully with continued training. She’s already just about potty trained and continues to make great progress. One of Myra’s most adorable quirks is her love for stuffies. She absolutely adores her toys — but unlike many dogs, she doesn’t destroy them. Instead, she carefully carries them around like prized possessions. They’re her “babies,” and if you adopt Myra, it’s truly a package deal — she will absolutely be bringing her beloved collection with her. Myra can be sweet and classy one minute, and the life of the party the next. She loves being part of the action and enjoys both playtime and affection with her people. Her joyful energy is contagious, and she has a way of making everyone around her smile. Because she’s still young and full of energy, Myra will do best with a family who is ready to continue her training, provide structure, and give her the exercise and engagement she needs to thrive. In return, she’ll give her family endless loyalty, love, and entertainment.  She needs a yard with a physical fence to provide a safe space for her to run and play.  She's good with larger dogs, but hasn't been around small dogs or cats.  She likely has too much puppy energy for very young children, but older kids would be fine. What Myra wants most is simple: a home where she can keep learning, keep playing, and finally be her family's beloved companion. Myra’s best chapter is just beginning. If you’re looking for a smart, affectionate, playful young dog who will keep you smiling every day — Myra might just be your girl.  Apply today at www.DUdobes.org   Doberman Underground adopts to Ohio and some close in areas of surrounding states.  A full list of the states and specific counties we adopt to is available at the top of our online application.   * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *  Sponsor Me by purchasing: Toys / Treats $10.00 USDLeash & Collar $15.00 USDMonth of Food $35.00 USDMonthly Heartworm/Flea/Tick $40.00 USDTransportation Costs $60.00 USDVaccinations $100.00 USDSpay / Neuter $150.00 USDThyroid Panel $150.00 USDIncoming vetting $300.00 USDHeartworm Treatment $1,500.00 USD  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 13, 2026, 1:42 pm

Story
Monkey is a 3-year-old female Doberman who has officially wrapped up her heartworm treatment and is ready to start the fun chapter of her life — finding her forever family! This joyful, playful girl has a huge personality and absolutely loves making friends with everyone she meets. Monkey is the perfect blend of sweet, gentle, and delightfully silly. She’s a classic Velcro Doberman who wants to be close to her people at all times and would happily volunteer to share your bed if you let her. She loves giving nose kisses and enjoys lounging on the couch just as much as she enjoys playtime.  Monkey thrives on being part of her family’s daily activities. This smart girl learns quickly and is already making progress on her manners.  Monkey has learned so much in her time in foster care she has learned how to walk well on a leash, she did great at Bark Bingo with over 200+ petting and mingling with her.   She is at that perfect age to thrive on training.   Monkey is young and full of energy, so she will need daily exercise, including walks and yard time to run and play. Squeaky toys beware — Monkey considers them her personal mission and will happily dismantle them if given the chance!  . She enjoys children and has been friendly and interested in them, though due to her enthusiasm and energy level, kids ages 5 and up would be the best fit. Monkey currently lives with a small dog. She would do best with a confident, middle-aged canine companion who can help guide her, build her confidence, and keep her in check during playtime. She is not cat safe. Monkey is still learning and has lots of youthful energy, so she would do best in a home where someone has the time and dedication to continue her training and help her succeed. A very busy household may not be the ideal fit for what she needs at this stage. Monkey is also a great little watchdog who will alert you when something or someone is outside but responds well to correction. If you are looking for a happy, energetic, affectionate Doberman with a big personality, Monkey may be your perfect match. With structure, training, and lots of love, this sweet girl is going to blossom into an amazing lifelong companion. Monkey is ready to swing into her forever home — could it be yours?
